For me, if it works, it works. Some laptops will run it, others may reject it.

If it passes memtest, I see no issues...

  2. Yes this is also what i recommend to people just to be safe, i think with metered connection enabled it wont even download any updates let alone install them. In addition to that in windows 10 pro you can specify the kind of updates you do want to receive. ex. in my screenshot below i have it configured so that i only receive crucial/security updates and i have it setup so that those big feature updates are delayed by a whole year. And you can even enable "pause updates" which disables all updates for 35days at a time
  3. if youre using windows 10 pro you can stop updates from automatically running from the settings. look into getting windows 10 pro if you havent already, that way you can ditch windows 7 altogether and no worry about using data on win10
  4. yeah unfortunately this is a very common issue with windows 7 updates - and has existed for a very long time. In my experience with the 5 computers in the house its been resolved in various ways sometimes you have to literally leave it on overnight sometimes you have to manually disable and re-enable the windows update service sometimes you have to disable the optional updates from being installed - some of the optional updates caused the glitch as well I had to manually uninstall a particular optional update before it was usable again. All in the meanwhile your cpu and ram usage will be maxed out .... I would recommend doing the free windows 10 upgrade - thats what i did on all my computers and havent had any issues, even for ,my ancient computers running Core 2 Duo
  5. if your cpu usage is that high - and your gpu usage is that low = your cpu is the bottleneck if your cpu overclocked? if not i woudl highly recommend overclocking to get some more use out of it or else i would recommend an i7 6700k if your games and apps are optimized for more threads
  6. well it doesnt sound you like you need a 1080ti ....so to answer your question if its worth it or not...id say dont bother
  7. it does not say that you need to buy it theyre just recommending it to you because they want to upsell windows 10 home will work just as well on your system
  8. the LM could possibly be making contact with something causing a short? i would recommend cleaning and reapplying if possible

  10. dont disable superfetch the best thing you can do is uninstall all the bloatware apps (best to do this through CCleaner) stop apps from running during startup never sign into a microsoft account disable everything under the privacy section in settings Hide cortana use O&O Shutup to disable some background telemetry set your internet connection to metered and if you have windows 10 professional you can delay feature updates by 365 days
  11. Windows 10 should be just fine i have windows 10 installed on much older hardware and havent had any driver issues (both amd and intel systems) And yes i also disabled everything non-essential in windows 10, no nonsense background tasks Windows 10 will run fine on a regular HDD if you disable the bloatware A 120gb-250gb SSD upgrade will further enhance your experience
  12. sure... it can save you time in disassembling if any of your components are defective and need to be RMA'd
  13. No unfortunately you will need to get a better PSU if you add another GPU also im just curious, how the heck do you crossfire a 560 and a 570, theyre not the same - would not recommend Sell your 560 and just get a 580 or a gtx 1070
  14. i also have a slimline ps2 with the same issue....but i personally never bothered trying to fix it. every forum i read - people fixed it by replacing the motor - its possible your new motor could also have been defective
  15. god forbid you actually let someone know your rationale behind a purchase - how dare they even question you. people are trying to help you - no need to be rude.
  16. thats an unfair assumption to make for the reviewers on amazon - it doesnt hurt to ask i would ask this guy by leaving a comment on his review and this guy between the three of them they have 5 of the same monitors...
  17. theres 8 reviews on amazon, if you have questions about the monitor you cal literally ask any of the reviewers on amazon - an email gets sent to all of them and someone will probably respond to you
  18. i would say the i5 option, the 8400 is also a good option if you want to save a few bucks i5 8400 and 8500 will hold its value better over time in case you need to sell it later
  19. Yes that motherboard will fit it is a regular ATX form factor motherboard which is compatible with that case
  20. just sign into a MS account to be safe and register windows to it thats what i did with my free upgrade, did a clean install on my SSD with an ISO and just signed back in to activate my free copy once more after the activation feel free to sign out of the ms account
  21. it would be much more cost effective if you bought a used i5 6500, i5 7500, i7 6700 or i7 7700 or even a K sku cpu , you dont need to overclock it, its higher stock clock will do you wonders going forward a platform upgrade seems unnecessary and expensive for your pc usage
  22. You will need to make sure if the specific revision of that motherboard supports an FX cpu, gigabyte likes to release different skys of the same model and make sure you have a good psu because these old amd chips consume too much power and kick out a fiar bit of heat, i would personally not go with that motherboard, its VRM does not look sufficient
  23. im using a gtx 1060 6gb with a phenom x6 1090t and it runs fine for most games - overwatch, fortnite, csgo, the division, Destiny 2, GTA5 and Mass Effect andromeda all run great on high settings 60fps only certain games i struggle with like bf1 and just cause 3 , have to play at low-medium to get 60fps
