  1. Check your CPU and GPU usages during gameplay. and also your temps with something like HWINFO64 or HWMonitor could just be thermal throttling causing dips in performance
  2. Generally no - because its the same platform - your first few boots into windows may take slightly longer. and it may take a few restarts for everything to run smooth again. Worst case scenario, you may have to just reinstall (or to play it safe) and just back up your important data before the upgrade.
  3. it really depends on the game what games do you plan on playing?
  4. for starters, i would recommend to power cycle your router and modem. seems like something caused it to prevent connections to specific servers/services its the easiest thing to try before you start changing any software settings
  5. 4th gen i5 will only go to a max of 4c/8t you want an i7 with 6c/12t for cpu intensive tasks like that the difference in performance between those two GPU's is negligible in those workloads I say for sure go for the i7
  6. And all asrock X299 mobo seem to be affected as well
  7. Site is going though something horrible right now. but im still trying to checkout....site keeps crashing after entering CC info

  9. Asrock X299 mobo are also in my shopping cart for $39
  10. at one point. the price was refreshing on its own anywhere from $6 to $2800

    4. Evolution.

      Evolution.

      Looks like they fixed it

  13. its been perfectly fine on my MSI B360i itx mobo for gaming/streaming and massive uploads to google drive/dropbox
  14. i personally own and use an i7-8700 and in a big atx case i was able to use the stock intel cooler without any throttling issues (with a full 6 core load, almost 80-100w tdp) . It would be mind blowing if this mac mini doesnt throttle under a rendering workload. But yes the single/dual core turbo speeds paired with nvme in the imac mini will be blazing fast
  15. I have the same RAM kit in my PC my MSI B360i motherboard has presets for RAM speeds so im able to run this kit at 2666mhz @ CL14 without any issues. i didnt notice any actual benefits though - working in Premiere Pro and Lightroom

i7-8700 in the new mac mini? looking forward to the temps testing. Would be impressive if the tiny heatsink can keep up with even a stock intel cooler.

Dell and Lenovo have only dared to put 35W TDP CPU in their current micro desktops.

Apple however have used a 65W TDP processor (presumably). According to Intel's website the only two 8th Gen I7's with a base clock of 3.20Ghz are the i7-8700 and i7-8700B, both with a TDP of 65W.

Just like the newest iMac Pro they have (presumably) cheaped out on the cooling solution, causing the CPU to throttle when putting it under heavy load for more than 15 seconds.

Although the PC will be incredibly fast when performing small and quick tasks.image.png.7f130eacf2cd4d3d0510dc0bc763fd7c.png

  17. Are you sure its not just a single core turbo speed of 4.3ghz? have you managed to somehow get 4.3ghz on all 6 cores? you can not overclock on the B360 chipset. my own I7-8700 + B360 will only result in a max 6-core turbo of 4,3ghz. - but like i said...thats just intel's regular turboboost 2.0 working as intended
  18. Wow thats really unfortunate. What laptop are you using? Specs? I know with nvidia GPU's you can specify whether or not you want a particular application to run using dedicated GPU or with the CPU's iGPU.
  19. get a new/used 1060 6gb, im maxing out all the new games at 1080p 60fps+ Edit: this is paired with an i7-8700 (non k)
  20. i just bought it, currently downloading, ill let you know in the next few days
  21. nah today, as well as in the near future, 3GB of vram will not be enough for most games at 1080p
  22. CPU RAM and HDD is fine GTX 1050ti or equivilant would be a good sweet spot ive been playing games @ 1080p with an Phenom X6 1090t for 7 years up until recently. the i7 2600 is better and should be fine for medium-high settings the GPU will most probably be the biggest bottleneck - wit ha 250W PSU i cant imagine it being a very powerful GPU, may need upgrade
  23. PC building? check wood working and DIY stuff? check i think you should do it.
