    I need to extend my gigabit network 20m away from the router to connect to my new home office. Already got the single ethernet cable ran. Is this the most efficient way it can be done? Will PC 2 receive the full gigabit network speed? Are the devices I've listed most practical for this use? (If not, bare in mind I don't want to spend hundreds on getting this running). Devices: Gigabit Switch (TP-LINK TL-SG1005D) Access Point 450mbps (TP-LINK TL-WA901ND) (Black lines is Cat5e cable) Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    2/9/2018 - Problem fixed. Came back from holiday and the problem is gone. Must have been either a Windows update or a nvidia graphics update.

    Thanks for letting me know. The cable is close to 20m, but only 4m of it is along the power cable.

    I have an already made gap along my wall and it houses the power cables running to the wall sockets. Will it hurt the Ethernet connection if I run it with the power cable and then cover it up?

    Is there any limitations to those? I know my house is separated into two meters, side 1 and side 2. If the one end is connected to side 1 where the router is will it still pick up the signal if the other end is connected to side 2?

    I need to run an Ethernet connection and improve the WiFi signal in an area of my house. It's around 30m away from the router. I have a gigabit connection. I'm going to have my PC in that area soon so I will need Ethernet so my PC can utilize the full gigabit download. Also I'll need an Ethernet WiFi extender to transfer the data reliably to other devices nearby. What is the best, cheapest and most efficient way of having this done, while only running one 30m Ethernet cable over there? Is there a product that can act as a WiFi extender as well as an Ethernet passthrough? Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Unfortunately not. Reinstalled Windows completely and issue still present.

    I've tried that. And now I have also completely wiped my drives and reinstalled Windows and everything else. The problem is still here.

    Might be as I've semi-reinstalled Windows (keeping my apps and files) and the problem is still here. Not sure if I really want to fully reinstall Windows if it might not even fix the issue. Might hold off that one for a while.

    I've unplugged my secondary monitor and the issue still appears. I've also now tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nvidia drivers, but the issue still occurs. Now I'm going to try repairing Windows via the installer. If that doesn't work then I'll do a full wipe. Thanks for the help.

    Okay, so I get this error mostly in Spotify and Discord. Someone else also has it and has posted about it on the Spotify Forums: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Fullscreen-mode-is-glitching/m-p/4450574 It looks something like this: In Discord: Spotify: If the white bar is present, the window also gets cut off by the taskbar below, looking something like this: As you can see, on the right the text is covered by the taskbar. In Discord: My profile name is covered once again. This issue only occurs while in fullscreen mode every other time I put the application in fullscreen mode. What I mean by this is I open Discord/Spotify and maximize it, there is no white bar. Then I close it and the next time I reopen it in full screen the issue is there. Then I can toggle it off fullscreen mode and back into fullscreen and the issue will be gone until I reopen the application in fullscreen. Apparently, it's a Windows bug, but my friend running the same version of Windows and same version of Discord and Spotify and he doesn't get the white bar (anymore- he used to but it fixed itself.) I am running the latest version Windows 10: My graphics drivers are updated. My system: Intel i7 8700K @5GHz Gigabyte Aorus Ultra Gaming motherboard G.SKILL TridentZ RAM 16GB (8gbx2) Asus Strix GTX 1070 Samsung 850 EVO SSD (250gb) WD Blue (1TB) Dual monitors (Asus VC239H) x2 The issue has been present for at least 2 months, if not more. I feel that if it truly was a Windows bug, that a lot of people had, it would have already been fixed. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for your replies. I have now replaced connectors on both ends and in the cable order mentioned by @Dujith Yet once again, the cable didn't work in my PC but did in my laptop. Then I tried the other ethernet cable once more and now that also started showing signs of damage. I have deduced from this that maybe my motherboard ethernet port has been damaged and cannot make proper connections - resulting in slow speeds and regular cutouts. The reason why my laptop was not getting the full 200 down is that it's integrated network driver only supports up to 100 down. I might have to RMA my motherboard or buy a PCIe network adapter.     I have a long (15m) ethernet cable going from downstairs where my router is to upstairs where my PC is via the outside of the house. The connector on the PC end of that ethernet cable broke, so I replaced it myself, making sure the colors are the same as the router end (facing upwards, clip on opposite side and left to right it goes: WO, O, WB, B, WG, G, WBr, Br). Before I replaced the connector, the speeds I got were over 200mbps down and 12 up (which is what I pay for). Now, the connection seems to cut out multiple times per minute, and I only get 1mbps down and 12mbps up. Here is the peculiar part: The same ethernet cable plugged into my laptop gets me 70mbps down and 12 up. A different ethernet cable plugged into my PC or laptop gets the good 200+ down and 12 up. Currently using a WiFi dongle with my PC. I don't know what has occurred to cause this. If the ethernet cable was broken, wouldn't the speed be the same on all PCs it's plugged into? If the router was the source, the other ethernet cable would also produce the same, slow speed. If it was my PCs fault, the other ethernet cable would also be slow, it is not. Please help me out. I'm not a networking expert. PS. (I wasn't the person who installed the outside ethernet cable in the first place).

    I've now restarted 5 times and it still tells me to restart to finish installing the same update.

    So yes. There is updates. But it's broken. The above update (v.1709) I've downloaded and tried to install multiple times. For some reason, it never gets updated. I restart my computer, but the update remains to be installed. Then it redownloads it.

    I've recently started to experience very unusual lag using my PC. It randomly starts and randomly stops. But what I've noticed is that when it is happening, and I open task manager to see what is going on it immediately stops. Like it's trying to hide. Therefore, I've ran anti-malware bytes and anti-virus, it found some things but not what is causing this. There is no pattern to when this lag occurs. My system is pretty new. Specs: i7 8700k (no oc) - Cooler Master Hyper 212 cooler Gigabyte Z370 Ultra Gaming MB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB (8x2) 2400mhz ASUS 1070 STRIX Samsung 850 SSD 250gb 1TB WD Blue Corsair CX750M (due to be upgraded) I've attached a video of the lag.     Anyone come across this kind of blue screen? It appears to be trying to show the sad face screen but encounters some kind of graphical glitch along the way. What could this be? It happens fairly often- few times a day.

    Alright, so I have an AMD FX8350, motherboard ram, psu and all that - but no spare GPU. My question is: will the computer still function without the GPU, as the AMD FX8350 doesn't have integrated graphics. So, will the following work: Build the system and set up the server with a GPU. Shutdown, take out GPU. Start up. - will windows load without GPU? (i will have no screen to see so.) log into windows. Server starts automatically and the pc runs without a display and gpu. To be honest, I don't think it will. But I would like to hear your guys' opinions.

    Title pretty self-explanatory. I've found the ZALMAN FanMate to be a pretty cheap fan controller, but I don't know if it will turn the fan all the way off like 0-100% or more like 40-100% if you catch my drift. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

    So, it worked. Before when I thought it was on, it wasn't. I needed to plug in the buttons to the board and press the Power button. But it was still too dark. So I went ahead and removed the polarizing filter following a YT video. And I made my LCD useless because I didn't realise removing the polarizing filter would make it so that nothing will show. Going to have to get a new one.

    Alright, after putting in two sets of LED strips inside my case, and putting the LCD into place, I can barely see the glare from each individual LED. No components are visible. I'm thinking there must be some kind of layer still on the LCD that I missed. Is there a chance that is the issue? EDIT: and also, will I need the monitor PSU to power the screen or can I just somehow connect wires to some Molex cables on my PC PSU?

    So you're saying the part you can see in the picture about, is going to be transparent once enough lighting it put behind it? Also, should I be looking at it from the shiny part of the matt part?

    Hi, so I had a spare monitor and I wanted to do a custom DIY Project Snowblind (Samsung SyncMaster 191T) I have taken it apart up to the LCD screen and the main board. However, the LCD is not at all transparent, and I cannot see anything displaying on it once plugged in correctly (without backlight).
