    If you mean performance will suck I'd agree, but I wouldn't call it a nerf which to me is an intentional crippling of performance.

    Source:
    Vice

    Summary:
    Adobe has stated "You are no longer licensed to use the software," and “Please be aware that should you continue to use the discontinued version(s), you may be at risk of potential claims of infringement by third parties.” to anyone using old versions of it's creative cloud software..

    My Thoughts:
    I can understand restricting access to older versions, such as removing download links, etc. However, it seems completely unreasonable to take a user to court over it. To start off with, not all users are computer literate, many may install a piece of software and then never upgrade it, especially if a newer version costs additional money. I surely hope that no lawsuits against users occur.

    Source:

    Bleeping Computer

    Summary:
    Intel and a coordinated supergroup of microarchitecture security researchers announced a new, serious form of hackable vulnerability in Intel's chips. All are capable of siphoning a stream of potentially sensitive data from a computer's CPU to an attacker.

    Quotes/Excerpts:

    My Thoughts:
    It's that time again all, Architecture vulnerabilities! Batten down the hatches and apply your patches. While I haven't had time to read all of this, the fact it's an architecture flaw means that only workarounds can be applied since you can't change the silicon.

    Mr Prince reacted to S w a t s o n in Tim Sweeney to Steam: Don't want timed-exclusives? Match our revenue split
    Just came in here to point out that:
    1. EGS exclusives sold on places like Green Man Gaming are still a 30/70 split
    2. Retail stores (Gamestop/EBGames/GAMEUK) and I assume Xbox Live/PSN are a 30/70 split as well.

    Mr Prince reacted to tortilaman in Concern about PIA (VPN)
    I found this article in relation to nordvpn, but there was one line at the end that now has me concerned about PIA's practices and security:
    I wouldn't want LTT unknowingly signing up viewers with a malicious actor, regardless of if they're paying the bills or not. That being said, what I saw on PIA seems much less shady than the rest of my linked article on Nordvpn.

    Mr Prince reacted to randomhkkid in Nvidia Brings DXR Raytracing to Pascal, Turing and Volta
    Starting with a driver in April DXR capabilities will be enabled on non-RTX cards from the current and previous generation.

    Non-RTX Turing amd Volta will utilise INT32 + FP32. Pascal series cards will use FP32 only.

    Nvidia gives us an indication of the performance we can expect rendering a single frame of Metro Exodus. They compare roughly equivalent cards in the RTX 2080 and the GTX 1080Ti.

    A rough visual estimate gives:
    * INT 32 + FP32 - 2.5x slower
    * FP32 - 3.2x slower

    Converting this to frametimes and framerate assuming the bottom one is 16.66ms 60fps gives:
    * INT 32 + FP32 - 41.65ms, 24fps (cinematic af)
    * FP32 - 53.31ms, 19fps

    A second visualisation shows that DLSS provides a roughly 20% boost to the RTX card's performance. Without it the 1080ti is still around 2.8x slower at the same settings.

    Hopefully this does pave the way for more adoption of DXR in the industry. With AMD incoming with DXR support there should be a good number of users with access to the technology. Unity and Unreal have announced support for DXR in upcoming releases of their engines.

    Beyond games this is also great news for a range of 3D rendering applications.
