  1. If you're already spending a couple hundred dollars on hard drives, personally I'd get one of these https://www.synology.com/en-global/products/DS416play The "play" version has more RAM, a faster CPU and a media transcoder (which the "j" version doesn't have). The transcoder is incredibly handy if you'd want to stream media on your NAS to your devices some time in the future using Plex for instance.
  2. Definitely wait what AMD will have in store for 2017.
  3. Ahh sorry, didn't read that correctly. As for fans, the Phanteks PH-F120MP is a solid choice, often referred to as the cheap NF-F12.
  4. I had the same problem of my fans not getting recognized. Turned out that my BIOS set the fan headers to DC instead of PWM. Try if you can find a setting in your BIOS that'll allow you to change the type of power delivery to the fan headers.
  5. I suggest getting an RX 480 or a GTX 1060... they're not much slower than a 780ti is, way more efficient and they will only get faster.
  6. As to which version of the K70 RGB I don't really know. As far as which switches, I have used red (K70), Blue (Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2013), and now the K70 RGB with Browns. I found the reds to be incredibly annoying to type with, often accidentally pressing a button. Shorter key actions do give you a slight advantage when having to react quickly in games. The Blues were amazing, if you like clickiness of switches then look no further. Only problem with it was that it's loud... VERY loud. I have litterally woken up people from typing on it. Surprisingly, gaming wasn't half bad either. Now I've been using the Browners for a few months now, and it's basically a quieter version of Blues, which is a good thing AFAIK.
  7. Get a few sticks of incense, light them and hold them in front of the holes. The smoke will give a pretty good indication
  8. Oh yeah I definitely agree. I'm just talking about the CPU's alone here.
  9. If you want as little of a bottleneck you should obviously go with a 6950X.... see where I'm getting at? You can go on with this forever. At what point does it become too much of a price premium for the amount of frames gained? the 6600K still hits that sweetspot for the current games.
  10. Okay so you probably don't need an i7. Ask yourself this question: Do you want to spend less on a PC that won't last as long (performance wise) or spend more on a PC that lasts longer? a 6600 might be enough for you now, but if your CPU starts falling behind after say 3 years, you will need to upgrade. If a 6600K starts falling behind after 3 years, you can slap an all-in-one liquid cooler on it and it will give you more performance and last you longer.
  11. Scan for Malware, coin miners, etc. Try to look for shady processes that use up a lot of processing power.
  12. Of course it will. EVERY CPU will bottleneck, it's just that a 6600K does not bottleneck a 1070 using current monitor refresh rates. BF1 does not get bottlenecked by a 6600K even at 200fps. Unless you want to play Rocket League at more than 400fps, a 6600K will NOT bottleneck. In a sense Morgan is right, but you can go on with this forever...
  13. If you can afford the price premium for the 1060 go for it.
