  1. As someone who's used a GT 740m (albeit the 1gb version) for two years, I think you should be fine with this laptop. Though, I do agree that maybe getting a laptop that doesn't have a DGPU will be better as it might have the same/better performance than the GT 740m. (Depending on which CPU is in your system) Around this time, there are deals everywhere and I'm sure you can get a better laptop with your current budget. But if you're hard set towards buying this laptop, it should last you for a while in the school work department. (Gaming on the other hand, is not going to be pleasant at all, just stick with less demanding games such as CSGO or LOL) Hopefully this helps.
  2. Thanks for the response, however I need some clarification. If I do manage to get the CPU and Ram out of the All in One PC, would the ALL in One PC still work in monitor mode? Or would I have to just deal with taking out the hard drives only?
  3. So about 3 months ago, my All in One desktop from Asus died. It just froze up and I was forced to force shut down the desktop to revert the desktop to it's last usable form. This, however, did not save the desktop as it didn't start up again. Due to the unique timing of this pc dying, I was unable to use the warranty on the desktop. Thankfully, seeing as how this pc is an all in one, the desktop could still be used as a monitor and has done so for the last 3 months, being used with my other desktop, (details on that if needed). NOTE: This pc's motherboard actually died on me about 1.5 years into its lifespan and I was able to use the warranty back then to save the pc without the large cost of repairs. So now, 3 months later, there still hasn't been an update on the repairs for this desktop. However, I realised that there are parts in this All in One desktop that I could possible want to keep, such as the hard drive and SSD. These parts would make a great addition to performance as currently I'm running a single SSHD 2TB Hard Drive as my OS Drive as well as a content drive. So my question is: 1. Could I actually salvage the hard drives from this All in One pc and use it in my other desktop setup? 2. Could I salvage any other parts from the All in One, such as the CPU and ram without compromising the functionality of the monitor mode of the All in One (Its the only monitor that I have)? Note: I do understand that taking apart an All in One is like taking apart a Apple Desktop, I just need to know whether there is a chance on salvaging the CPU and Ram from the All in One.
  4. I've already tried the boot device order with no prevail and as for the boot menu, when I go to the boot menu with the bootable USB plugged in, all of the USB connected devices shut down. I'm now stuck on this screen, with only the ability to force shut down to do anything.
  5. I know this makes me sound stupid, but how would I check whether it is supported?
  6. Hey everyone, So a couple months ago, I managed to score a sweet deal from ebay for a good price. The specs are down below: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 GPU: GTX 660 Motherboard: LGA 775 - GA-G31M-S2L Power Supply: Unspecific 500w Storage: SSHD 2TB After looking through the PC, I realised that the previous owner had placed Windows 10 32 Bit on this computer. As a gamer, the 32 bit operating system wasn't going to work with the new games coming out, so I strive towards acquiring Windows 10 64 bit through the guidance of How To Geek and Windows Central. The issue came when I got to the first step in Windows Central's guide at the "Install a 64 bit version of Windows 10". When trying to boot into the USB, after changing the boot settings to boot to the USB, this image appears I'm unsure on what exactly I have done incorrectly and I'm now asking the best tech community I know, for help. Thanks guys
