Nothing in that article says that they'd fine a school for using a pirated/unactivated version.  Anyway, it's most likely that it's just screwed up enterprise/education licensing, not a pirated version.

I hate this thread because I hate kids like that. If found out my son was acting like a spoiled brat this much, I'd take away his electronics for a while.

The problem is the blower cooler, not a tiny metal flange. Even if you drop 10 degrees, you'll still be running way hotter (and with that much less OC potential) than if you'd just spent the extra $30 on the GAMING version.

Don't ruin a perfectly good case unless you have to. the AERO has a kina shit cooler, so i expect it to get pretty hot, but I really don't think that the case is the problem. maybe try taking your MOBO out of your case and benchmarking it then to see if it's really an airflow restriction or not.

What they mean is, Defender is good for a baked-in AV. If you have some common sense it'll get you by just fine. And it's not in your face every 3 seconds or hogging massive resources.
