  1. Winning would prompt me to upgrade other parts of my build as well.
  2. Seems the PSU wasn't the issue. I just went out and got a new Be-Quiet! Straight Power E9 500 watt and I'm still unable to post. Guess something else just decided to break. I have a friend who's got some kind of Phenom II that he'll hopefuly let me test in my system to pinpoint the problem.
  3. I took my motherboard out of the case and gradually removed everything except the CPU and tested if it would boot. No luck there and since my heatsink was stuck on the CPU pretty good I decided to start researching more before I removed it and found a couple of forum threads and such suggesting that the PSU is the issue. For now I won't remove the CPU as it did work before this happened and I don't think it has been physically damaged since. I will contact the retailer that sold me the PSU and see if I can get an RMA as this didn't happen until I received my new one and everything else worked just fine with the old PSU with the broken fan. 4. I had another one off the same model that broke in shipping. I sent it back and got this one I have now which worked for a couple of hours before this happened and still seems to work.
  5. It powers on and the fans start spinning but there's nothing on either one of my 2 screens. The monitors do however start up from standby as if the computer was working. Fractal design Tesla R2 500 watt. I haven't taken anything apart yet but I will rebuild everything from scratch later this evening/this weekend to see if I can locate the problem.
  6. Nope, I'm using a Noctua NH-12S and I was monitoring the temperature with CoreTemp which isn't the most accurate but it said 40°C. My dad also seems to think it overheated but I doubt it as there wasn't any big load on the CPU.
  7. Yes, the light for it just blinked at the same pace for about 20 minutes. The manual said that it would blink faster every 30 seconds but nothing happened.
  8. Useful system specs: Motherboard: Asus M5A99X Evo R2, CPU: AMD FX-8320, GPU: AMD 7950, RAM: Corsair Low Profile DDR3 1333MHz 2*4GB. 3.5 weeks ago I received my first "real" computer. The fan in the power supply was broken due to poor shipping material. I put a fan on top of the PSU and was able to use the computer for a couple of days during which I installed windows and played some games but most importantly confirmed that everything else worked as it was supposed to. Today I got my new PSU, put it in the system and everything was working fine. I booted up a game and went into an ingame menu when my suddenly monitor went black except for the cursor which still was working and looked like the game's custom cursor. Since I couldn't close the game with alt+f4 or by right clicking the icon in the taskbar on my secondary monitor I accidently put the computer in sleep mode with the windows 8 menu in the side, I was supposed to click turn off but missclicked. The computer was totally unresponsive to me pressing mouse and keyboard buttons so I turned it off by holding down the power switch. When I turned it on afterwards the CPU_LED was shining red indicating something was wrong with the CPU and the system didn't post. I tried clearing CMOS, updating the BIOS through BIOS flashback, switching the EPU and TPU functions on and off and made sure that all power connectors were connected properly but it still wouldn't post. Could I possibly have fried the CPU or broken anything else by doing this? Is there anyone who knows a possible solution or do I have to wait another 3.5 weeks for another RMA to be able to use my computer? PS, I didn't overclock anything neither did I change anything between being able and unable to boot.
  9. It's a nice build but I'd have to get a lot cheaper GPU to be able to afford and well, Never Settle all day! :) . But in all seriousness though I think I'm gonna stick to what's in the original, except upgrade the cooler to the Noctua NH-U12P SE2 as it's basically 10$ more and seems to deliver a lot more cooling performance. All my questions have been answered and I feel pretty sure that it'll be one of the best performing setups I can get with my budget. Nice to hear. Does anyone have any input on the fans? Is it really worth it to get extra ones if I have 2 intakes in the front, opened the moduvent in the side panel for the graphics card and use the CPU cooler to blow air out the back?
  10. Thanks. I'm almost looking forward to actually building the computer more than having it for gaming and stuff. Yea, they do but I think I'm sticking with this one as the Seasonic in the same price class either were 80+ bronze or modular and more expensive because of that. And I might be a little biased because Fractal Design is Swedish :) . But 500W should be enough even with overclocking if I don't add another GPU or other power sucking thing?
  11. Good to hear about the bottleneck. I didn't find any PSU that was that much cheaper to the point where it was worth it without significantly decreasing the quality of it. And the PSU is one of the thing I hope I will be able to keep for a relatively long time so I think it's worth it to spend a little more money on it.
  12. I'm not really patient enough to get something of Ebay :) . I've been waiting for this for 2 years so I'm really eager to finally get this as soon as possible. Do you think the 7950 would be bottlenecked by a 8320 that's overclocked, but not to the extreme? If so I might just get a 7870 or try to cram an intel platform in there.
  13. The problem with that is that I need a "solid board". I don't really think the http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=69230 would really count as a solid board so that would probably significantly increase the cost of the build.
  14. Getting that motherboard and a 3570k would cost about 45$ more. And a 2500k costs even more. I'm already at the limit of my budget but I might be able to cut back on some things.
