  1. Just make sure the RAM have a slot in between them. You had them in the correct slots. Could try swapping them around too.
  2. If it was the far right stick then it would make sense. In the picture it wasn't seated all the way so make sure you push it in completely and try both again. Poor connection will cause the CPU light to come on because the CPU is having issue communicating with the RAM.
  3. From what I can see in that picture, if it's something you just took, the far right RAM stick is not pushed in all the way. You can tell by the clip at the top being pushed out a bit. Make sure both sticks are seated completely. Other than I see no issues. Only are thing is make sure all the power cables are pushed in all the way, the CPU power in the top can be a problem sometimes in getting it in all the way. If it's a modular power supply make sure all cables are pushed into the power supply all the way. Plug a display into the motherboard and try bridging the two pins for power on the motherboard together. Ryzen can take a bit to actually boot into a BIOS I've seen it take anywhere from 2 - 15 minutes to fully boot.
  4. Full specs of your build and maybe some picture of everything plugged in would be very helpful if you could. If the PSU is clicking it sounds like something is tripping it and preventing it from turning on and its doing an auto shutoff. I wouldn't try turning it on anymore. With the Red CPU light one thing I would try it reseating the CPU. Buddy of mine had that same problem a few months ago when building his first pc. Also try with only one RAM stick, and try jumping the on switch manually instead of using the power button on the case.
  5. Remember it’s for my wife. Who is a woman, everything has to be pretty rainbows. On a more personal thing for me though, I don’t trust gigabyte mainly because of their customer service. I don’t have a lot of time to spend on troubleshooting and RMA so the easier the customer service experience the better. Would prefer gold on the PSU as just a personal preference and I have the same unit so for troubleshooting and testing would make it a lot easier. Will take notes for the other items though.
  6. Sweet will make note of the latency thing. I’m really hoping I can get some cool bundle deals when we go to micro center.
  7. Biggest concern with Intel is Longevity. They like to change their socket to much and I’d like to be able to upgrade her CPU to a Ryzen 7 like 2 gens later hoping they do the same as AM4 making the platform upgradable for so long.
  8. Unfortunately that’s over the budget and also there is no “competitive gaming” she just likes playing esports titles and shooters. But will take note of the cooler change. I forgot thermalright was a thing. The SSD is a good note too. I’m not really stuck on the SSD might even change it a 1TB as she has a 1TB gen 3 in her laptop at the moment I can just swap over.
  9. When it comes to DDR5 what’s the ideal CAS Latency at 6000? Everything I was seeing was at 36 which the higher frequency kit had a lower latency which is why I chose it.
  10. Budget (including currency): $1500 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming mainly Call of Duty, Overwatch, Halo, and other esports/shooter titles. Wanting to upgrade the wife from her laptop to a desktop pc for Christmas. Not trying to go over $1500 for the budget would really prefer to be below as I would like to just take her to Microcenter and let her shop and pick out everything herself but with my guidance. Games will only be played at 1080p but I don’t want to have to upgrade for a while which is why I’m choosing more 1440p oriented parts. thanks in advance for any help.
  11. I'm wanting to change all of my mass storage devices to SSD's from mechanical drives finally but I don't know if I should go with sata or NVMe. I currently have 2 1TB PCIE 4.0 NVME drives that I use for all of my games and programs. I currently just use my HDDs to the majority of my library on at all times and just transfer them from the HDD to the SSD if I need or want to play them but the trasnfer speed from the HDD is really slow and a little to slow with how big games have gotten. I can either get 2 4TB sata drives and not have to worry about anything but plugging them in, or I can get 2 4TB NVMe drives and also buy a PCIE adapter to hold both of them. Which would be my best option? System Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus 32GB RAM 2 x 1TB Sabrent Rocket 4's 2 x 2TB Werstern Digital HDDs EVGA 3070 EVGA G2 750W Note: I am somewhat of a data hoarder so getting bigger drives is kind of required for my mental health. I will be get getting a 10TB mechanical drive as well to keep backups of everything else as well and just to have for files I don't use as much and don't require a lot of speed for me to access.
  12. Gotta have the optimal screen for consuming Linus’ face.
  13. The only thing I do with my pc other than gaming is shopping for Pokémon cards, browsing this forum and some TCG forums, and watching YouTube/anime oh and Amazon. I’m probably gonna go to micro center and have a look at the monitor in person . Microcenter is just a bit of a drive for me so I was trying to make the decision before I went to see if I really even wanted to get it. unfortunately the only other store close to me is a Best Buy and they don’t carry anything good at the Best Buy’s around here.
  14. This is the information I was looking for the most. There is no productivity involved just gaming. Still kind of puts me on the fence but it is an upgrade so I still have to think about it. might try and find a 27” in around the same price if I can. Thank you for all the replies and information. This really does help me evaluate my options and make a decision.
  15. I'm looking at upgrading my current monitor which is a 27" 1080p LG 144hz monitor to a 32" 1440p LG 165hz mointor. My concern is will I see a difference in quality with the size jump. I know the ppi on the monitors is around 85ppi for the 1080p and 93ppi for the 1440p monitor. I understand that 27" is the "sweet spot" for 1440p gaming but at this price point it's hard to pass on. I don't really play competitive games to much if I do it's usually just Call of Duty which is more casual play with friends. I mostly play single player games ( AC: Valhalla, Elden Ring, Horizon: ZD, Spiderman) or adventure/survival games with friends. I've read a bunch of old post about this same discussion from a couple years back and that's got me scared. I'm just worried that I won't see much of an improvement because of the size. Specs for my pc are: Ryzenn 7 5800x 32GB DDR4 3200mhz RTX 3070 If those matter in this. If the link above doesn't work properly : https://www.microcenter.com/product/662617/lg-32gp750-315-2k-qhd-(2560-x-1440)-165hz-gaming-monitor\ Thanks in advanced, I may not see some replies until the morning.
  16. It is DDR4 and it would be nice to have since recently I've been seeing spikes of 90-95% ram usage when playing games, streaming, and keeping all the tabs open on Chrome that I refuse to close. Luckily that part of my sig is up to date. xD I haven't had problems with this system with RAM but I did on my older system that had DDR3 where I bought the same kit twice but it gave me so many issues I had to take one of the kits out so I'll probably just buy a new kit and go for some RGB this time as well.
  17. So it would be safer to just buy a brand new kit?
  18. You can download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft on their website and create a bootable windows flash drive from that. You do need a pc to be able to download this and create it though. Then when you boot up your new system for the first time just go into the bios and set the first boot priority to being the flash drive and it will walk you through the steps from there.
  19. I'm looking at getting more RAM for my PC and I already have a 2x16GB kit of Corsair memory. If I buy the exact same memory kit as before with same model number, speeds, and latency to give myself 64GB of memory will I have any issues since they didn't come in a kit together?
  20. I believe Fortnite has a FPS limiter in the settings? It's been a while since I've played but maybe check that? Is this a new build entirely or did you replace an old GPU?
  21. Personally I would go with Noctua fans just because of the silence. Especially for a HTPC, you wouldn't really want noise from fans being loud an obnoxious when trying to enjoy some sweet precious multimedia. They are pricey but when it comes to how quiet they are and their longevity it's totally worth it. The cooler you chose is definitely the best you can get int hat class so I wouldn't change that. As for your "stupid question" I would try and exhaust as much heat out as you can since it's an HTPC case. You don't want that heat just sitting in the case causing other components to heat up and get hotter than they should. Curious though, why a Z790 chipset? Do you plan on overclocking? Depending on what CPU you go with I don't see you having much headroom for overclocking in such a small case with a low profile cooler, especially if you were to choose an i7 or i9 as the CPU.
  22. Do you plan on just using this PC for gaming? If so both chips are going to perform just fine in gaming. Depending on the game will depend on which chip is better but the i3 is about 2% better in most games. However if you plan on doing anything that is very multicore or multithreaded intensive the Ryzen 5 will dominate the i3. Running Discord in the background won't really affect performance or use any additional power from the chip so that really wouldn't be a concern with either chip. For gaming though its really your choice. I would base the decision on which one ends up being least expensive for you in your region for the CPU, Mobo, and RAM combo.
  23. Can I use my at home NAS to hold Xbox games and download them to my Xbox whenever I want to play them? I'm currently using it to hold most of my steam library but if I buy another HDD can I use it for Xbox Game Storage to transfer, and how would I go about setting it up to allow me to transfer and get the games over to the NAS?
  24. Budget (including currency): $1000 Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: GTA V, Valorant, CS:GO, Minecraft, PUBG, New World, and Astroneer Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No existing parts as this is a new build for my wife. Keyboard and mouse are also what she wants so those can't be changed. I think this build is pretty solid personally but I wanted to see if there were any other recommendations I could do to improve it. We do plan on getting a GPU eventually if prices ever settle down or we get enough saved up to buy them at current prices. Plans are for either a 3060 or current xx60 model, or 3070 or current xx70 which I think a 650w PSU would be enough for? Went with a 5700G because it comes with the VEGA 8 so she could get better performance int he more demanding games she wants to play right now over the VEGA 7 in the 5600G, she is also aware that New World will probably not run very well if at all without a GPU.
  25. You won't really be gaining much if you upgrade your GPU and not your CPU but you won't really gain much if you upgrade everything else instead of your GPU. The 3570k just isnt capable of keeping up with todays games. I would honestly upgrade your CPU but maybe go with a Ryzen 7 5800X instead of an i7 12700k to save a little money to get a temporary GPU upgrade? You could also get a Ryzen 5 or Core i5 to save even more money to allow for an even better GPU. As someone who had to go through this same thing a few months ago I do understand but I ended going with a CPU and Mobo overhaul and just searching for a 1660ti at a somewhat decent price to hold me over.
