Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from Zannah in Epic Games could popularise Exclusivity deals in the PC ecosystem
I actually enjoy having all my games on Steam and not having to deal with all the new and upcoming Launchers that are way inferior anyways.
And the most hated "feature" of Consoles for me is exclusive games that only run on one of them.

Granted I am working now, so I don't mind just buying all the consoles plus a good PC, but i still dislike the practice and remember how hard it sucked to own a PS2, when the game I wanted only showed up on XBOX. And vise versa, when I bought an XBOX the next generation.

Yeah, for PC this would not suck as bad, due to just being able to install the other launcher, ... but honestly: I really gave GOG a chance. And I hate the launcher tbh.
There are about 150 games in my GOG library and i honestly just forget about them, due to only opening Steam when I want to play a game. I went as far as rebuying games, just so I could run them via Steam. Workshop being one of the main reasons, lack of proper reviews and forums being the close second.
Reinventing the wheel (and failing at it!) is something the gaming industry keeps getting away with. And i hate it.

Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from mr moose in Titan V ray tracing (almost) like a RTX 2080 TI
    People keep demanding new stuff.
And people expect wonders every 1-2 years.

Also people: Not willing to pay more for all the stuff, expecting prices to stay the same.

That would work, if we would wait 5-8 years between generations, like consoles! Do we want console like performance for 8 years? No? Well, guess we will have to pay more then.

Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from ne0tic in Titan V ray tracing (almost) like a RTX 2080 TI
The interesting part is not that it runs on a Titan V.
Since DXR is a clean DX12 thing, no one that knows how this works was expecting ANY GPU not to "run" it.

The point is that a Titan V runs it well. Very well actually.
Granted: The same User confirmed less impressive results on other maps, but we are still talking about playable framerates, which where sold as not being possible without RT cores. And honestly, since RT has been done for a good while now, we never saw any "playable" implementation up to now. I mean, it is not like people doing this for work did not try to make it go faster or something.

It seems like Tensor Cores are indeed very capable of RT work. The real question is: How capable are they really? Could RTX go without RT by having more Tensor?
More Tensor would make it vastly superior in other tasks as well,...

I swear, the console fanatics believe in magic.
Just a few days ago another of those blind fanatics wanted to get into an argument with me about his XBOX being a true 4k piece for 300 bucks. He also claimed my shit PC would never reach that quality, even if i invested 3k into it.

Seriously, i have no idea how to properly talk to the console kids these days. They really buy the marketing and don't seem to notice it when playing. Or they lie to themselves?

Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from NunoLava1998 in You thought GTX 1060 was confusing? You've seen nothing. Enter RTX 2060 and 6 variants of the same card
So, lets assume they would have done the opposite and only used one version.

RTX 2060 GDDR5X 3GB The Internet: "OMG, only 3gb is not enough in 2019! Also not even GDDR6!"
RTX 2060 GDDR5X 4GB The Internet: "OMG, not even GDDR6!"
RTX 2060 GDDR5X 6GB The Internet: "OMG, not even GDDR6 and it won't be able to actually push 6gb anyways. Could have been cheaper!"
RTX 2060 GDDR6 3GB The Internet: "OMG, only 3gb is not enough in 2019! Also, GDDR6 is hella expensive, should have used GDDR5x!"
RTX 2060 GDDR6 4GB The Internet: "OMG, GDDR6 is hella expensive! Should have used GDDR5x!"
RTX 2060 GDDR6 6GB The Internet: "OMG, GDDR6 is hella expensive! Also it won't be fast enough to push those 6gb anyways. Could have been so much cheaper!"

Also the Internet: "OMG, enough choices so all the common complaints don't fit. IT IS CONFUSING!"

    On a more serious note:
Vacuum cleaners are confusing. They have plenty of versions, but you can't look up a benchmark to know which is faster. This holds true for almost everything that is not a benchmarkable tech item. For GPUs you actually can do that. It takes all of 2 minutes, if you read some text as well. Less if you just look at the bars.
I seriously don't get how Nvidia could win here, due to the internet bashing on everything they could have done. Going with all possibilities for an easily comparable item is not exactly the worst idea, no?

Both did not have anything in common with the topic in question. Not at all.
Also: a "few" years between now and then, so maybe, just maybe.... Hitler (who was not even german to begin with) is not in charge anymore?

If we would be going by that strange logic all US reputation would be void and gone for the next hundred years due to Mr. Orange Guy.

    To be quite frank here:
When was the last time the US offered proof for anything they claim? At least Germany tries not not fuck over companies for shady reasons, without any evidence whatsoever.
Honestly the US just dislikes Huawai, because they are not native and surpassed Apple now. It is a strictly economic thing for the US and as per usual they hide that behind defamation without anything to back it up.

But they get worse, they even try to extract information to fuel the ice addiction further. When will the madness stop?!

I was at the microsoft event in which the announced the visual studio 2019 preview and a lot on where they talked about this.  They use open source github repositories for some features including a new (and incredible) feature called Intellicode for AI assisted intellisense.  Private is not open source.

They offered the capabilities to add your own private codebase so it can learn your own habits (such as business) and that learning only applies to you. It does not share that with others.

Wow.. how did you twist that one up?
All it says is that the coming up Visual Studio has a feature that allows you to to simply put a URL of a git project and import it for you to get started more quickly, and configure Visual Studio coding style with the one detected.

This has NOTHING to do with buying GitHub... It just executes Git clone command on the back to fetch the project for you, and guess the coding style it puts to configure your Visual Studio to follow. It is just a quick starting feature.

Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from COTG in Nvidia misses Revenue estimate - Huang says AMD to blame
And that is exactly why i exclude workstations. They don't use a low-midrange GPU build for gamers.
The Steam Survey has enough entries to be accurate statistically speaking. I doubt AMD customers are less likely to allow the survey. I mean, on what basis would that assumtion stand?

There is no way to make it sound less dramatic than it looks. AMD is almost irrelevant for gamers, no matter how vocal those few are. We could argue about this if the survey would be a close call. Hell, even if AMD had 20%. But they don't even show up before 5+ year old Nvidia and iGPUs and their flagship is listed as "other". The evidence is just too clear to start a debate about it really.

That being said, we (the tech nerd guys that visit forums like these) should make sure that the wider audience actually hears about competetive products like the RX 580. I mean, it IS better than a 1060 most of the time. Yet it has like 1/30th of the market share (by gamers). Without us trying, AMD is not gonna get out of this hole i am afraid. It sure does not look like it for now. Even with some products being really good and even superior.

Tech Enthusiast got a reaction from mr moose in Nvidia misses Revenue estimate - Huang says AMD to blame
So, where did he blame AMD for poor sales?
The linked sources only show an explanation on why the inventory is as full as it is. Inventory as in "whatever the vendors have in their warehouses" and not "what Nvidia has in their warehouse".

Basically it reads as if he said that the vendor inventory is full of AMD cards and not full of NVidia cards.
That is pretty much the opposite of what is being discussed here,... he does not blame AMD for poor Nvidia sales, but claims the full inventory of vendors is mostly made up of AMD cards that don't sell since AMD pushed the 580 for mining like crazy and now can't sell it because gamers don't buy it.

Just check out his explanation about the 1060 being the nr 1 selling card, while the 580 is nr 24.
Makes so much more sense that way, then if he would seriously blame AMD for NVidia stock.

    Well, exactly.
Unless you explicitly want the user to see what he does, or for queries like you suggested, it is silly.

    And, more importantly:
It has to be coded on purpose. That is the point here. This is nothing that is happening as a "glitch", by accident, like they try to make it sound.
It happened because they wanted to do it that way, for whatever reason.
