  1. Perfectly fine highest it got to was 75C before throttling clocks. Personally, on the same setup with an 8600K, I had that thing over 90C, and it never throttled down. I find it weird that this one does.
  2. I'm coming here because I cannot find the answer literally anywhere online. I've been trying to overclock my 8700k to 4.8GHz. As I'm running Prime95, the processor starts out at the 4.8GHz clock, but for some reason clocks go down as low as 3.8GHz and often hold ~4.1-4.2GHz. I'm on manual voltage control set at 1.31V currently and am unsure where to go.
  3. Oh, that explains a lot. I was wondering why I couldn't find specifications for my TV, Ill assume its HDMI 2.0. Thanks for your time.
  4. So they don't have anything that will support over 60Hz 4k? Darn. I guess Ill just stick to HDMI then.
  5. Hi all, I recently purchased a used Zotac GTX 1070 (ZT-P10700I-10P) and it seems like a great card. I'll be using it in an HTPC system and, as such, will be hooking it up to a TV. The only issue I have is that the card doesn't have an HDMI 2.1 port, only 2.0b, and the only thing my TV (LG OLED55C7P) has is HDMI ports, and I'd really like to shoot for 4K above 60 FPS. I know the card cannot handle that in most modern titles, but it should in older source games and such. I was wondering if I could simply use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, as Displayport 1.4 works wonders for 4K video. I was wondering what type I would need, active or passive, as I am unable to find any information as to if the card even supports DP++, and what I could do if it did or didn't. What may help is it seems the card is just a different cooler on the Founder's Edition card. Again, my target is 4K over 60FPS. Thank you very much for your time.
  6. Hi, I recently got a Dell G7 15, and have been tinkering with undervolting to improve performance. I seem to be able to get ICCMax all the way up to 255.75 and so far no problems. Should I turn it down? Could this hurt the cpu or board? Does it degrade performance? Basically, what am I doing and why could it be wrong? Thank you for your time.
  7. My apologies, I did not see it wasn't just liquid metal. Otherwise, yeah its identical to what I did
  8. Yeah, no. Liquid metal has shown to destroy a processor over a few years time. Id rather keep my laptop for more than two years. And the issue again isn't that the thermals suck, its that the fans dont kick on at the correct time because Dell wants the computer to be quiet as long as possible. I would like a solution to controlling the fans, not a repaste tutorial thank you very much.
  9. Hi, I recently purchased a Dell G7 15 laptop with a GTX 1060 Max Q and I7-8750H. I knew it was going to have throttling issues, but I assumed they would be easily remedied. I did the standard undervolting procedure as stated in another thread, but am still not achieving the results I am looking for. I am not using a cooling pad, though if this issues doesn't or cannot be resolve I may resort to getting one. Below is a picture of my settings in Intel XTU. I've gotten a max cinebench score of 1175 with an average a little under 950. While gaming, I average 3-3.1GHz at 60-65C. I wouldn't mind a slightly higher clocks if I have to sacrifice temp and noise. The main issue I am having with Cinebench is Ill get halfway or a third of the way through a bench and then the temperature finally hits 88C, making the CPU throttle and fans FINALLY kick on to max. I would like to find a way to make them start at max instead of only doing it when throttling down. Thanks for your time.
  10. Alright I just got a new board. MSI Z370I and it is SO MUCH BETTER than that gigabyte garbage
  11. Hi, I recently got a mini ITX board for my i5-8600k, a Gigabyte Z370N. Upon finding out my VRM cooler is a massive piece of garbage, I got two Noctua NF-a4x10 fans to attempt to remedy the issue. While it lowered idle temps by as much as 10C, it still throttles like mad after about a half an hour of gaming. Temperatures idle at about 86C and after a half an hour are up to 114C. I would like to know if either getting a better VRM cooler would be better, or if I should just return my board and get a different one? I intend to get a stable 4.9GHz overclock but am unable to do so with the state of these VRMs. I have attached a photo of the board's factory cooler, and a photo of the Enzotech MOS-C10 copper cooler pieces that I would probably get if I do upgrade. Im not sure if they're any better, as they're typically an upgrade from literally nothing, but I'd rather get feedback from somewhere before I go and void my warranty by swapping out coolers. Thank you for your time.
  12. I will be getting a fan, but I can only fit 2 maximum 40x10mm fans. The spacing is very tight in this case considering I have two 80MM fans just above the spot where the heatsink is. Hopefully just those two on their own will be enough. If not, back to amazon!
  13. Do you overclock your CPU? If so it could be your VRM cooling is insufficient. Im having an issue similar but it takes while for the dips to take effect.
  14. Hi, I recently purchased the Gigabyte Z370n Wifi. I recently found out the VRM heatsink is a piece of garbage, limiting my overclocks and sticking the VRMs at about 95C at idle. I have devised three options on how to remedy this. I could either A. Buy a couple of Noctua NF-A4x10 fans and stick them over the current VRM B. get a set of Enzotech MOS-C10 heatsinks and attempt to use those in conjunction with two noctua NF-A4x10 fans C. Return my motherboard and get a better one. I really don't want to spring for option C, but if I have no other choice, I will. I'm running a tower heatsink so these are really my only two options. My parents are kind of sick of me getting all these computer components and don't want me spending much more. I have attached photos of both my current VRM heatsink and the Enzotech units. I'm not sure which one would be better. Thanks in advance!
  15. Im a dumbass. I should've checked that first. Thanks
