So it appears I may have fried my new motherboards fan headers
I've got more fans that I do fan headers so I purchased a Phanteks PWM fan hub so I could plug my front 3x 120mm fans into it and then I plugged that into a fan header. The instructions also mentioned that I needed to get a 12v connection from the PSU for it to have enough power.
The issue I was having however is that it was running at 100% RPM and I couldn't change it. I tried it in the CPU and CPU OPT headers but still the same scenario, then I noticed a 3-pin just below the 4-pin CPU OPT header. I plugged it into this, turned on the computer, the power light on the front of the PC flickered a lot, I heard a very faint pop and I immediately turned the power off. Now the board still powers up but none of the fans connected to any of the fan headers are working, except the CPU fan header that appears to be running.
I know I should have investigated further as to what that 3-pin connector was I've read somewhere that it is some 3-pin Over Voltage (OV) header or something?? What does this mean and what is it supposed to do other than fry your motherboard fan headers
I am going to seek a replacement board however I think I'm also going to go down the route of a fan controller. As I'm not 100% keen on splitting a single header
