  1. I haven't lived in the US in the past 5 years but I remember going to Fry's and Micro Center whenever I need parts for repairs but I would buy all the new hardware online.
  2. I would say that is pretty overkill for the usage you stated but if that's what you have to spend then I would say it's a good plan to buy those parts.
  3. well now your bios works so try just the drive that runs your operating system
  4. try getting to your bios after you disconnect a couple of your drives
  5. I would suggest just cleaning up your software a bit maybe try finding a decent program that will help with that like iobit or something similar. I feel like the lags you are talking about are coming from a well needed tune up and clean of your ssds. Your hardware is still good and shouldn't be causing stutters. But also if you wanted to upgrade you would have to do gpu, cpu, and then probably motherboard and ram so I wouldn't suggest upgrading hardware.
  6. try taking the cmos battery out but it is 100% a motherboard issue. If it persists I recommend a new motherboard.
  7. 100% agreed. Anything Fractal makes is amazing. It has a good sense of what the all around type of case should be without being insanely flashy.
  8. It depends on what you define being "worth it" means. I personally think it is. Then again I haven't owned a laptop in at least 3 years now. But seems like it would be decent for gaming.
  9. well apparently it makes a difference when I compare my scores to other people's the only difference is our cpu speed
  10. damn that blows I was only like 800 points away in 3dmark speedway from being #1 just with gpu overclocks. That's the only reason I wanted to overclock.
  11. So I watched multiple videos of b660 motherboards that could overclock but it seems mine specifically can't. I have an ASUS B660i wifi ddr5 motherboard with a 12700k and I went through tweakers paradise and enable BCLK overclocking but nothing comes up in the normal menu or below it. I am a little confused. Do I have the wrong bios?
  12. lol my cpu was bought off ebay not sure how they feel about that
  13. well I do have to change the motherboard in order to upgrade the cpu but this board is not without it's faults when I first got it there was a damaged trace path to the RAM which I managed to fix with literal magic. But since then I keep getting memory errors and I can't keep my overclock for it so I run it at the cpu stock level. There is also the issue with the pch/northbridge overheating. I think it may just eliminate most of my issues and from what I have read the 12600kf consumes less power than my 10850k does so if it really is a power supply issue than I am covered.
  14. Thanks I'll try it out in a bit I had the power limit lowered already and it was crashing whenever I put it to 105 so maybe that's it but I have an undervolted and under locked I9 10850k and a 3080 to with a Corsair sf750 power supply so I thought I'd have enough power for both. I'll be upgrading to a 12600kf soon (at least I hope) so maybe that will help as well.
  15. So Everytime I've loaded 3D mark and tried running a benchmark I have been getting BSOD every other time I do it. The error is something like Service Executable Exception or something. And another time it was IRQL not less or equal to. No idea what those mean. And for my temperature issues it's two things. My EVGA 3080 ti XC3 Ultra Gaming card is running full tilt at 98C with a hotspot of 100c and memory temps of 100c no idea why. I haven't even opened the card yet. I also have some PCH temps from my Mobo saying their at 98-101C but I assume it's like that because it uses the same cooler for my nvme storage drive so I have no idea there either. I think it's one of those two things because when I ran Cinebench earlier for about 30 minutes there were no issues. Any ideas on what I can do to remedy this stuff?
  16. So when I open precision X software and I click the icx button it only shows the gpu core temperature. The reason this is an issue for me is that HWmonitor is showing that there is a hotspot that is nearly 10c hotter than the core. I just downloaded the software today and then redownloaded trying to figure this out. Maybe it's a firmware thing but I did update the Vbios as well so I have no clue what is happening. Any Ideas? Wait am I dumb do they just not support it anymore?
  17. So I just got the game and the first thing it said was that I needed to update my driver, I had the most updated driver so I used DDU and then download the latest of off of geforce experience. Well then it said my current driver was -1.1 so I used the beta drivers, still said the same thing. Well I just hit ignore and continue and it worked... to a point. After the intro races the announces the character that drive the red AMG and then the game crashes as it is loading. I tried redownloading the game, exiting nearly all my apps, no anti-virus, and I tried it offline and with administrator. So then I tried looking up and the crash report and this came up: Fault bucket 1717759798670482361, type 4 Event Name: APPCRASH Response: Not available Cab Id: 1413650373479429350 Problem signature: P1: ForzaHorizon5.exe P2: 1.405.2.0 P3: 6178b41e P4: ForzaHorizon5.exe P5: 1.405.2.0 P6: 6178b41e P7: c0000096 P8: 0000000002f40000 P9: P10: Analysis symbol: Rechecking for solution: 0 Report Id: 67d65c1b-85eb-4233-8289-230bfe294328 Report Status: 268435464 Hashed bucket: acd6aa527683efe1d7d6b56f91335bb9 Cab Guid: 4ca0dd83-c357-4922-839e-4b865bd6f4e6 I have no idea what most of this means but I looked up the error codes and it looks like some people say it could be a permission issue but I already tried that so I am very lost now.
  18. I have already tried bios reset. I think it's making good contact I mean it's kinda hard to tell. It's definitely running my hwmonitor shows the rpms of the pump and fans.
  19. Damn but I'd have to get a whole new motherboard and ram with it too
  20. So I have had this cpu (the 10850k) for a while I messed with it and got a really good overclock I just don't remember it at all. Basically I just got back from deployment and I came back with a 3080 ti and setup my pc but realized I was hitting 101c on my cpu package. There was no overclock and I have a kraken x62 cooler on it. I also tried using my noctua u9s and that was so much worse with the blowymatrons I had on it. I tried undervolting and it won't go very low. At this point I might just decide to get the 12900k but I am wondering if it is even worth it. I was just going to wait for the AMD platform change to see if that was worth it. Any ideas what the temps could be from or if I should just upgrade?
  21. does your budget count for a mouse, keyboard, gaming headset, and monitor?
  22. So I bought this motherboard about 4 months ago and declared it dead when I put it all together and the motherboard wouldn't boot past the DRAM stage, I though something was seriously wrong and I couldn't RMA it. I bought a much cheaper motherboard that wouldn't let me overclock my cpu at all and I lived with it for bit and just got over it. Then I just wanted to look at the board. I noticed it looked the there was a scratch right next to the RAM slots, so I remember fixing some old DDR3 ram by using a pencil and just coating the top of some traces and it fixed them so I did it to this board and now it's just revived. I'm not sure how long it will last, and I'm wondering if there are any effects I should worry about by doing this. Anybody know? Or does graphite on a trace permanently fix it? Oh yeah there was also a missing pin but I think it was a dummy pin.
  23. So I was having trouble with this motherboard a while back and didn't realize, till now after I had bought another one, that the current one was not reading my ram at all wouldn't even boot so now I just saw some brown over the pcb on this mobo and so I remember watching a video, it may have been Linus or Jay, but they said that graphite like from a pencil will help "fix" those traces. Not sure if this is gonna work but I'm hoping for the best. Update: it works I don't why but I was going to destroy this mobo and it also has a missing pin. I just decided since the only other one that works is garbage I wanted to take a leap of faith and try this shit again and now it works but kinda like a car with a spare tire works. I'm not sure how long this will last. And I'm wondering what I might expect from doing this temporary solution.
