Based on oculus' dev kits, it isn't common for updates.

I personally don't see a purpose to using AA on anything but sub-1080p. It just makes things blurry rather than more sharp for me most of the time. Very high performance loss for very little visual gain.

Personally... I would wait at least till V2 of either one of them. As for choosing between the 2, Vive seem to be better since it have that full room tracking, while still able to do everything the Oculus can. However Oculus right now have the edge on games since they are the one throwing money at devs to produce games for their device. So... TLDR: wait for the next generation.

In the mean time how about going with a GearVR if you happen to have a Note 5 or S6/7? Even a Note 4 can work with the Consumer version Gear VR too if you willing to cut and modified it a bit (I can say that as a fact since that's exactly what I'm doing right no, using Note 4 with GearVR CV1). It offer quite an amount of free games and "experience" for only 99$ (assuming you already own a High end Samsung phone), and if you willing to spend some more money on the games there's a few noteworthy games as well. The performance is no where as close as a Rift or Vive, but still pretty decent, and some games/demo is really really enjoyable too

I think that waiting would be a good call, but who knows how long it'll be until they release V2. I wonder if it'll be a yearly update, or if it'll go 5 years like a console.

All the Rift exclusive games can be played on Vive. Thus meaning there is yet another reason why the Vive just simply is the superior headset right now.

Since you are using Ultra HD, you don't really need AA. I use it, because I have 1080p 23 inch monitor and it just looks awfull.

AA useless at 1440p and above
AA smoothens the round and diagonal objects

There are going to be a lot of people more experienced than me responding to this but, in my opinion, it is unlikely you caused any permanent damage to the graphics card, with the numbers you showed here. Question is: what is causing you to think or experience a drop in performance? What are the signs that you see, if the benchmarks are coming up the same?

Hello folks. Just a quick update on this. I think the ideal scenario going forward with graphics cards is to have them all watercooled. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me to use air when AIO watercoolers are so reasonable out there. And the difference is night and day.
I was struggling with this problem for a couple of days when I realizedl; instead of an air cooled card on the "inside", why not try a watercooled one? I only have 1 120 mm fan/radiator spot on this case, might as well use it. The EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid came to the rescue. What a difference! I am still working on an external 120 mm fan enclosure to spit air using a PCI Slot Cover adapter of our design though. WIll see how that changes things.

Ok folks, here are the results: I was able to switch the card that drives the display. Very easy. What I did was I went to NVidia Control Panel, into the SLI configuration option. Then I forced the card I wanted to be the secondary card to be the PhisiX processor. I then applied the setting and after it was completed, went to the back of the case and hot swapped the Display Port connector. The second card was outputting signal. I switched back to Autoselect which card does the PhisiX after that as it is recommended. But the bottom line is this: after running Heaven overclocked to the limit, the card is now running at around 71 C! the bottom card runs hot now, but it hovers stably at about 81 or 82. I am more comfortable with that, although a new case is definitely in the horizon. As the monitor and the second Ti blew my budget in a way I couln't possibly justify (and therefore I won't), it will have to wait a while. In the meantime, we can play cool (sort of) :-)

That is normal. The top one isnt getting as much airflow but that temp is still safe.

That is what I use, lovely case, tons of room, tons of airflow, lots of ways to attach coolers of all kinds.

    peasants like me who cant afford a 980 ti and g-sync lives with a 970 and v-sync on 1080p ;-;
my fps caps at 60 anyway so no stutters and tearing  i'd give up some input lag for better visuals since im not playing fps anyways

that's the "Suffocated" card yes? Just plug your monitors into the other card. the card that drives the displays will always be hotter, so make that card the same one that gets free and open air.

Top card is always hotter in an SLI configuration. Make a custom fan curve if you haven't already; this should reduce temperatures significantly; albeit at the cost of noise.

EDIT: That is a relatively small case for dual card operation on air.

dual gpu will normally suffocate the top gpu due to it having less room to breath

your case is too small for dual 980 ti to breath adequately tbh

might wanna get a case with larger space with more intakes and exhaust, the 980 ti can be pretty hot

If it's anything like other new Asus panels, it'll be... a bit before they're readily available.  They sell fast over in Asia.  Wicked, monstrously fast.  So fast that they sometimes have trouble getting a shipment sent to the US.

They'll catch up.  It'll just take a wee bit of patience.

    Hello there folks.

Does anybody know anything about this monitor's release date and availability in the US? I was going to get a X34 Predator but when I learned about this "clone", I decided to go for this one instead because of the looks and some of the features.
The X34 can be found in the US (kinda) but the Asus... I am having a hard time even finding any info about availability online. This monitor does not seem to have been released in the US yet, even though there are mentions online about early 2016 (February or March).
Anybody knows when this will actually show up? What is the best way to ensure I can get one as soon as it becomes available?

Thank you all. Yes, it looks like Asus hasn't updated the BIOS since July last year so I doubt that this would be compatible as it is. Appreciate your help!
