  1. Any damage to the cooler? What kind of damage?
  2. Thx for all the replies. I understand I cannot just "add" a third drive to make it raid 5, I have a spare 6TB HDD I can copy the files too first. The more I keep reading about fake raid, the more paranoid I'm getting that Windows will screw up my raid 0. All my media (movies and archives files) is stored on there and I don't want to lose it. Are there any cards which u consider to be good in the 300 CAD range? in case of MOBO failure and OS screw up its my assumption I can just install a new MOBO and OS and the raid will be automatically detected as long as I have the raid card installed and the drives are connected to it?
  3. Hi Everyone, Currently running two WD Red 3TB HDD in Raid 0. I'm looking to get another 3TB and run my Raid 0 (which using windows software Raid) in Raid 5. speed is important to me, on a scale of 1 - 10 I would say it would be a 7. I'm very happy with the current speed of my Raid 0 using windows software Raid 1) Should I get a Raid Card? If so which one, because I don't need something crazy and expensive. 2) Any thoughts and/or suggestions? 3) If a HDD were to fail, how long does it take to rebuild with a Raid card? How long does it take to rebuilt without one? I have a 5820k with a small OC to 4.1 GHz with an msi gaming carbon MOBO. Thanks for your time, Excal
  4. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hdd-upgrade-kit-with-3x-hard-drive-trays-and-secondary-hard-drive-cage-parts Shipping is way to expensive tho. Just double checked, the link above is for Canada and USA only. I've checked online retailers and they all seem to be "Sold Out".
  5. Hi Everyone, I currently am using 3 HDDs in my 450D case and wanted to install more HDDs. When asking corsair support if I could get another 3 sled drive cage for my case they sent me a link where the part was reasonably priced but it costs almost $60 CAD for shipping! So not worth it. Anyone in Ontario, Canada who doesn't need their HDD cage for their Corsair 450D would like to sell? It would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Excal
  6. The difference is obvious, no one got it right yet. The black edition will steal your PC and wallet at night.
  7. They might be a bit high but that's because I have my corsair sp quiet edition fans at low rpm to keep them quiet as possible. Under load I keep my quiet profile on (in corsair link) which brings my temps up to mid 80's during stress test.
  8. Hi Everyone, Do you think instead of using my H100i GTX, to cool my 5820k @ 4.4 GHz, the Dark Rock Pro 3 would be a good idea? Just want something more quiet but maintain my 5820k overclock at 4.4 Right now now my idle temps are mid 40's C Thx
  9. Cool thx, where did you read up to 30% and what tasks?
  10. Hi Everyone, i currently have two 3TB WD Red in Raid0 for my mass storage (OS is on 500GB 850Evo but I don't keep anything other than an OS and few essential files on it). Is it worth it to get a 64 GB cheap SSD as a cache drive for the Raid0 HDD? Will there be any material performance gains? If so anyone know any good and easy guides to set this up? thanks,
  11. Hi Everyone, I've spent a lot of time looking for a free backup software tool that simply moves all files and folders from one drive to another drive (schedule and also do partial backups where it only backups the new files). It sounds like a simple task but very surprised I can't find a simple program which can do this. All programs I've looked at either compress the files or save them as a proprietary file. Anyone know of any backup software which can: 1) Backup all files and folders (without compressing) from one disk to another. 2) After initial backup I just want partial backups of any files and folders which are new. Thanks so much if someone can suggest something.
  12. Everything worked like a charm. MOBO "hardware/fake" raid was horrible because my PC kept crashing for some reason, ended up choosing the software raid under Disk Management. All good now.
  13. Thanks for your input (everyone). Thx emerald I'll also consider having a program like u mentioned to automate the backups.
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm a little new to building raids since I've never done it before and would be great if I could get your help. I have a corsair 450D case which has a drive cage for 3 HDDs. Since my OS and main drive is on a Samsung 850 EVO (500GB), I wanted to have a decent size storage solution since right now all my media files are on an external USB 3.0 HDD. I was thinking about getting 2 WD Red in Raid0 (3 TB each), and then a 6 TB green which would back up the Raid0 (manually). I know Raid 5 exists but as I've read the writes are very slow and I want it to be fast (hence the raid 0) Is this a good idea? Any suggestions? Thanks for your input, Excal
  15. Hmmm It would be great if we had some inside info on how the manufacturing process/disabling cores works. If I were Intel and wanted to ensure people did not re enable the extra cores using software I would physically damage the cores, rendering them useless. Maybe that's what Intel has done.
