Yes, this is the way to go. I can't tell you, I only know how it works, not what you need to do to use it, since I only have two separate drives in my current system, my only system.

It won't work, they're different controllers

You have two SSDs for the two ports, plug the HDD in one of the others, it doesn't matter what it is, you'll be able to access it, just as long as it's through the same controller.

Just put the HDD on a different port (I'm guessing SATA III 3gb/s) and put the SSD's on the SATA III 6gb/s ports? If you want to do a RAID configuration, they'll need to be running through the same controller.
