Athlon 860K, A10 7870K - those are very solid budget options
As for FX, the 8320 is a great server CPU on the cheap and the 8350 at 4.5GHz using it's 8 threads can easily beat skylake i5s

for gaming id still go with an 860k or A10 some games will not run without 4 cores

A88X - you can do some OCing but they are already at 3.7-4GHz out of the box

Audacity is supported on Linux, and Libre Office is excellent. I'm not sure how well it will run on low ram though.
