  1. I've been using and enjoying my ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 for about a week and the only negative I've experienced is high CPU temps. They've touched 106c but I've only experienced a drop to 0 fps a couple of times. I was considering upgrading the thermal paste. For cost saving measures, ASUS uses thermal paste on all the VRMs and GPU memory, so I want to swap them out for thermal pads and use Carbonaut on the CPU and GPU to just set it and forget it. Any recommendations for the thickness of thermal pads I should use and what brands are good? I've heard recommendations anywhere from 0.5mm to 1.5mm but I don't want to even mess with it unless I can get a solid recommendation so I don't screw anything up. Any feedback is appreciated!
  2. I am relatively new to Ubuntu, and I don't know if this is just the way it is, or if I am doing something wrong, but when I give the appimage permission to run for the installation of Repetier-Host, it just opens the program, and doesn't seem to actually install it. How do I use the appimage to install the program to the computer (download the files to the system and create an icon in the app launcher)?
  3. Every year or so I like to wipe my hard drive and reinstall windows because it regularly becomes buggy and slow no matter what I try. Windows search stops working, certain apps just fail like Microsoft Edge, loading times get longer and my fps in games gets lower. Does anyone have any tips as to why? Right when I reinstall windows and all the respective drivers for my hardware, I hit the 250 fps cap in rocket league 70% of the time, and it rarely dips below 200. Now, I rarely get above 200 and frames drop quite often, usually 5-10 times per game. Rocket league is not a very intensive, and neither is csgo, which is also experiencing the same problem.
  4. I have to write a 2 page jury bio about an imaginary character for an imaginary case. Are there any suggestions for how I can fill up the lines?
  5. I purchased the Sennheiser GSP 350 to replace my HyperX Cloud II a few months back when they were brand new (I sold the HyperXs because there were some things that I did not like about them preference wise) and I am a bit confused about how the Dolby 7.1 Virtual Surround works. In the Clouds, the 7.1 Surround Sound worked in any game no matter what, without configuration. The Sennheisers, however, seem to be different. I had to go into playback devices and set the "Sennheiser Speakers" to default device and the "Sennheiser Headset" to default communication device (as said in the directions booklet). Because of this, Windows volume does not control VOIP volume, and you have to go all the way into the "Sennheiser Headset" properties to change it "which is really annoying". While changing the volume with the analog volume control on the headset works, it is not convenient because it also changes the desktop volume. In addition, I don't quite understand why Sennheiser set the Virtual Surround to be controlled by Windows. Once again, I had to configure the "Sennheiser Speakers" for 7.1 Surround Sound because it detects them as a 7.1 speaker setup. As a result of this, the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound only works in games that have a 7.1 Surround Sound option. So here is my final question- How do I configure it in games that have odd profiles? For example, Battlefield 1 has a surround sound option, however it also gives you the option to pick which types of speakers you are using (headphones, large speakers, small speakers). If I select the Surround with Headphones, there is noticeable echoing and odd positional awareness. Next, some games such as Depth that have a 7.1 Speaker configuration still have some odd distortion. I don't think that there is a problem with the headset or inline DAC, because there is no other issues with the headset whatsoever. In stereo mode they sound fantastic for music, movies, and casual games. I just don't understand the design choice of the sound card that is included. Am I doing something wrong? EDIT: I installed the software and configured the headset exactly as described in the manual. I even tried uninstalling the software, removing and updating the drivers, and forgetting the device, but got the same result.
  6. Some of the new Sennheiser gaming headsets or headphones that have come out. There have been quite a few; some updated designs and completely new cans.
  7. Any other suggestions? I know that the RPM of fans can fluctuate, but 600 rpm seems a bit much, enough to be out of the quality parameters. Could it be a bad batch of fans or a problem with my motherboard?
  8. I should have mentioned this, but I also tried this. Still only lets me go down to 50% on my case fans. It lets me take my CPU fan down to 12.5% though.
  9. I just recently purchased two Cooler Master JetFlo Red LED fans on Amazon. They are rated at 2000 rpm max and can be PWM controlled down to 800 rpm, however when I plugged them into my motherboard, it's saying that they are running at 2600 rpm. My BIOS only lets me cut the power by 50% at most, so they are still running at 1300-1400 rpm and are quite noisy. As a final attempt, I downloaded SpeedFan and configured the headers to be controlled by my graphics card temperature (my specs are on my profile). This worked great. I was able to get them to 800 rpm at idle and they ramp up a bit while gaming, however I have to re-setup the profile each time I log on to my computer (even with remember this setting). Any suggestions?
  10. I have recently installed the Windows 10 Anniversary update (hoping all the bugs would be sorted out by now after 2 months) and found that I cannot complete matchmaking in Rocket League. I don't know if this has anything to do with the update. I have had problems when I tried to install the update when it first came out, and I had to revert because the update screwed up my antivirus and did not allow me to log into YouTube (that problem still persists). Does anybody have any idea how they could help me? I have tried almost all the solutions on the Rocket League support page as well as many other suggestions by other people. The only one that I was not able to complete was port forwarding because I am not able to access my router settings at the moment.
  11. Anything from the HyperX line is a solid choice. I also saw that the Sennheiser GSP 300 and 350 came out, however they are so new that there aren't any reviews. Hopefully they will be as good as the Game Zero.
  12. I have been experiencing this problem since I built my PC about 2 years ago and lately I've really been needing to leave my computer in sleep mode. It refuses to stay in sleep mode for longer than a minute and then just turns on again. I have tried disabling the network adapter from waking up my computer and changing the wake timers on power settings. Also, I have tried changing every setting in the power and sleep section of my BIOS with the same result. Any suggestions?
  13. Thanks for the help! I do actually breathe hard. I was considering getting a modmic for my Bose AE2s but I decided to get an entirely new headset because I didn't like the design of the Bose as much as I did the Cloud IIs. The two positions that I have found to work are 1) right in front of my mouth as you said or 2) 3-4 inches away from my face so no matter how hard I breathe it still doesn't go into the mic
  14. Thanks. I have a hard time positioning it there because the boom mic is so long.
