  1. That's why I'm trying to switch
  2. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knew a way that I could set up email forwarding form my shitty AOL account from way too long ago to my work (outlook.com) address. I have been told that AOL has removed the forwarding feature, so I was wondering if there were any other (probably 3rd-party) solutions to this. Thanks!
  3. Hey guys I'm Jeteroll on HoTS as well feel free to add me or something. Race: Protoss. League: Silver (bow down). Server: North America. Mouse: I used to use a Logitech G9X, then I got a Steelseries Sensei so I could have an extra for my laptop and I have since switched to the Sensei for no other reason but that it is newer. I honestly don't feel any difference between the two mice, they are both nice smaller sizes for my fingertip grip style. The Logitech software was a bit more fluid and reliable, however the Steelseries software is more customizable. Keyboard: DasKeyboard Professional with Cherry MX blues. This was my first mechanical keyboard and I am loving it so far even though it's not a gaming keyboard. However, I haven't used any other mechanical keyboards so I couldn't tell you what features I am missing out on.
  4. Hey guys, as most of you know Windows 8.1 was released today and you can download it for free (provided you already have Windows 8) from the app store. What are your thoughts on this? Is it better than Windows 8? Do you like it at all? Is Windows 8.1 in just as bad as Windows 8? Who's still sticking with ol' faithful Windows 7? I've found that Windows 8.1 is surprisingly buggy. I also think that the whole metro app environment is not well integrated with the regular desktop environment, and that the metro user interface is hard to navigate. I am still left with a desire for a more consistent experience so that I don't feel like there are two different user interfaces.

    Case Fans

Just as a side question, what are the best 120's or 140's that are not too expensive?

    Case Fans

Unfortunately, I don't have enough fan headers on my motherboard to do so, and trust me I would love to use 140's or 120's all around.

    Case Fans

Hey guys! I have a Cooler Master HAF-X and I am looking to upgrade some of the stock fans that come with it. I will need the following: - A 230 mm fan for the front - A 200 mm fan for the top - A 140 mm fan for the back Now, I don't know much about case fans but I do not have any radiators or anything, so I will not be needing pressure optimized fans or anything like that, unless of course those would be ideal for me. I am mostly looking for high quality fans that will be quiet, but will also have good airflow. Price is really not of a concern to me, and neither are LED's. I would like to know your recommendations on which fans would be the best for my needs.
  9. This needs to happen! Such an interesting game dynamic, I can imagine this would be a hell of a lot of fun! I've never seen game like this and I'm certainly not buying an Xstalks One for this one game. I can see myself playing this like an a Fallout MMO, so amazing!
  10. <p>Personally, I use ESET Smart Security 6, although it is a huge resource hog and consistently takes up 100 MB of RAM. This isn't too much of a problem for me, and I love ESET's level of control and detection rates. There are more settings than you could ever need, even for an advanced user like me. Another downside of ESET is that it is very expensive compared to other security suites. See the comparative chart in my signature for an easy but detailed comparison.</p>
  11. It most certainly was not discontinued, although it was buggy as hell.
  12. EA you now have one job in my mind, don't screw this up or I will take it personally.
  13. Well, I really suck at taking selfies and I had a late night last night, so I look like crap but here's my best shot.
  14. I would go with Bitdefender, F-Secure, or Bullguard if your not a knowledgeable user when it comes to viruses, all are decently fast and have great protection. Webroot is by far the fastest and uses the least system resources, but doesn't have top-notch protection. Avast is great but half of the entire program is ads, even in the paid versions. AVG and Norton geared towards average users, so they have features I don't really care about like backup and parental controls (although many other products have parental controls also). If you are knowledgeable and know your way around viruses and Windows, go for MSE or no anti-virus at all. My personal favorite is ESET, although it eats RAM. Check the chart in my signature for more info, it compares almost every anti-virus product in many different ways, and includes tons of statistics.
  15. This makes no sense at all, and I cannot guarantee you won't get any spyware form these sources but here you go. http://www.malwaredomainlist.com/mdl.php http://malc0de.com/database/ Use at your own risk.
  16. NCIX is great if you know what your looking for and want another great place to shop that has pretty good prices and great customer support. However, their site is a horror if your trying to compare different products, or just shop around to find what your looking for. For that reason and the reviews I'll stick to Newegg until NCIX gets an overhaul.
  17. The Avast alert is saying that somewhere on that page, a JavaScript is attempting to drop a trojan on your computer. Most likely Avast parsed an ad or a link or something that linked to such therefor the web filter blocked it.
  18. IE used to suck, bad. It used to be clunky, ugly, and slow. Nowadays, with IE 10, these problems have been solved and I can honestly say I have almost no complaints. However, IE renders some fonts incorrectly, their flash is not built in and can be buggy, and their bookmarks system is not as good as Chrome's. Other than that IE has vastly improved since the horrendous days of IE 6 and 7.
  19. Personally, I would recommend Bitdefender or G Data. The Bitdefender engine is one of, if not the best engine available. Their interface is sleek and surprisingly functional, and their autopilot mode is excellent for someone who is not too familiar with malware. G Data uses its own engine, plus the Bitdefender engine so it offers great protection as well as having superior prices and a great interface. Either would be great for a normal user, both run efficiently and don't hog system resources. I will say, however, that I would recommend no antivirus at all to anyone that is experienced with computer security enough too know what they are doing on their computer.
  20. Hello Everyone! I am quite the computer security enthusiast and I have compiled a comparative chart of different anti-virus products for my own uses, but I would like to share it with you guys to help you decide on the best solution for you. My chart has way more data than anyone would ever need, but feel free to play around with it as you please. This chart is not guaranteed to be accurate and I could have made many mistakes, it is meant as a reference point for comparison only. I have included the Excel spreadsheet so you can play around with the sorting features and such should you have Excel. Unfortunately, I cannot get this spreadsheet to work with Google Docs. I have included statistics such as; protection, performance, and cost efficiency, using data from two independent malware testing institutes, and three separate tests in order to provide the most accurate information possible. Anyway, happy hunting! Link to spreadsheet: https://mega.co.nz/#!sVhl0aZI!NgspnXW9ToMrA0AmN-oCWnI_-5wGjCa7UH6msHZhkp8 Edit: Added visual graphic bar indicators, updated information, and included Comodo.
  21. I would have considered that card, but once again I've heard bad things about the VRM cooling on Vapor-X cards, also it has been discontinued along with the MSI Lighting and the ASUS Matrix, which would have been my first choices.
  22. I have not, only because I like this community and I believe I can get sufficient advice here,
  23. Basically nothing matters except for the stream processors and the core clock of your graphics card. Overclocking or adding RAM dies not affect mining performance, and other computer components have zero effect on your hash rate. Thus the better the AMD graphics card you buy, the higher your hash rate will be. Most mining rig builders will try to spend as little as possible on components other than graphics cards, in order to receive the greatest return on their investment. Many even use open air solutions like milk crates as cases. And yes, you can also make your mining rig a server for whatever you want, depending on what you install on it. For instance I run a Minecraft server, and an FTP server off my mining rig, as mining uses almost no CPU or RAM.
  24. Hey guys! I'm considering purchasing another 7970 for my Bitcoin mining rig (see my signature) and I am stuck at the infamous which card/brand should I get, although I am not considering a reference card. Sourcing from Newegg: the Gigabyte card (GV-R797OC-3GD) apparently runs hot and loud, and it looks unappealing with it's blue PCB. The Sapphire offering (100351SR) seems like a solid choice but some say the coil whine is bad and I have heard bad things about Sapphire's VRM cooling, in addition to its poorly colored green PCB. I've heard great things about ASUS and their DirectCU II coolers, although one third of the reviews on this particular card (HD7970-DC2-3GD5) are horror stories, and the three slot cooler is a bit of a turn-off, although I have not seen if those three slots are warranted by cooling performance. I must admit though, that ASUS has given their card quite the sexy back plate. I was mostly impressed by MSI's offering (R7970 TF 3GD5/OC BE) from the previous one I purchased, although its overclocking was limited to 1200 MHz with locked voltage, and the card ran both loud and a bit hot under load, although not the loudest, and temperatures were at a not too outrageous 80 degrees at load. The HIS offering (IceQ X² H797QM3G2M) looks overall pretty good except for the green PCB, and their cooler seems to work well. However, I am not very confident in HIS's build quality and I have previously owned their 7950 IceQ X² which promptly failed and smoked after five minutes at load. Finally, XFX's card (Double D FX-797A-TDBC Black Edition) has me scared away by the sheer number of DOA's, horror stories, and poor quality I have read about not only applicable to this card, but XFX in general these days. Anyway, sorry for the big rant but I can never seem to find the right card, and I was hoping you guys could help me out.
  25. I have not used anti-virus in years. Yes that's probably a bad idea, but I haven't had a problem with it in over a year, even with all my *cough* legal *cough* software downloads. However, if I had to run something I would either run Malwarebytes and Windows Defender (the Windows 8 version of Microsoft Security Essentials), or ESET/Kaspersky. Security software that includes fluff and extras like a firewall and anti-spam and such is just a waste in my opinion. The Windows Firewall is more than enough for me and all I would ever need on my computer is pure antivirus. Additionally, this is my favorite websites with up to date anti-virus comparisons: http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/home-user/windows-8/janfeb-2013/ .
