@CJDriver if you don't quote people using the button under their post, most often they won't know that you've replied to them.
Either you reply them by clicking that button, or tag them by name like how I did

Also btw, I noticed you picked B650 Aorus Elite Ax, there is a v2 (version 2) of it.
I don't own the motherboard so I don't know for sure, but a member here (@ImWilly) mentioned in other thread that the v2 uses a better wifi module.
So you might want to take that into consideration, or atleast research about the two motherboards.

The MSI, its just impossible to get your hands on. 16:9 doesn't need a curve.

I'm confused...why do you need to ADD a separate WiFi card, then the ASUS Prime-B760M-A AX COMES with a WiFi + BT combo??
It has the antennas included with the motherboard...

The WiFi card won't work because it is a different M.2 key type.
The motherboard supports M.2 Key M only.
The WiFi card is M.2 Key E.

The HyperX Cloud II/Alpha/III's fit most of that, but i'm not sure if they come with an alternative cloth ear cup. The Logitech G Pro X 2nd Gen's tick all the boxes.

You're going to have to define "good". Compared to something like a Vive Pro 2 or Index? No, not at all, but its considerably cheaper. I think I paid like $200for a refurbished model over two years ago and it feels about worth that. You're getting a $200 experience, not a $900 experience. Its an acceptable entry into VR but if you enjoy it, you'll want something better rather quickly.

I have to ask only because I've taken this for granted before and been burned, how are you verifying the idle state? You aren't doing anything or have you actually verified absolutely nothing is running and (at the very least) Task Manager is reporting 1-3% usage?

I wish I didn't go X670E simply because I could and thought it would be cool. The lighter weight B650 boards seem to boot faster. My completely unverified assumption is the lack of the second chipset saves a few seconds during POST.

I personally run all MSI boards but that's just because I've never had an error with one and I know the BIOS layout pretty well.
But I will point to what Linus says about top tier boards: They are never worth it. Their low production volume means you pay an even larger premium *and* they are last in line for firmware bug fixes.

The Taichi also has an overkill VRM, that's true, but the Aorus Master ended up 4C cooler in Hardware Unboxed's testing.
With that said, had the OP given the Taichi as an option, I would have mentioned it. The difference is small enough that the two are basically equivalent in terms of the VRMs.

If you have an issue you can simply lower the clockspeed to 3000 but...

Don't spend money on this, save for a real upgrade. A 5600 would be significantly more worthwhile, assuming your board has a BIOS update to support it.

You can enjoy a new system now or later, you're not really going to be missing much. CPU uplift is nice for those of us into CPU's but if your system is well balanced, you'd really should be relying on the GPU for performance. If you really feel the need, as @Hinjima said you can swap in a 9700x3D/9800x3D sometime in 2025 if you feel the need.

Frankly I don't think its going to matter, a 7600/7600x is plenty fast enough for a 4070 Super.

GuiltySpark_ reacted to Hinjima in Do I also upgrade CPU now or wait for Zen 5?
7600x is a really strong CPU and pairs really nicely with the 4070 Super.
Dont get the Ryzen 8000 series as they are powerful APU's and the Ryzen 7000 CPU are actually faster in gaming performance when paired with a descrete GPU over a 8000 series with a discrete GPU.

We have started to see almost all AM5 motherboard get a new BIOS update that supports the upcoming Ryzen 9000 series so its not too far off. We obviously don't know the release date but I would guestimate within a couple of months.

Its definitely up to you if you want to wait or not.
You can always get a 7600x now and update the BIOS and put a 9800X3D in the motherboard in a few years to bring more life into the platform 🙂 AM5 has a huge update path.
7600x will be a huge leap over your 2700x.

PBO will boost until it hits TDC, EDC, PPT or thermal limits. Usually first three are set high enough that you are almost always thermally limited.

Memory training happens on every platform. Intel or AMD. It fills up the required timings that are not defined in XMP or default profiles.

Ryzen is not optimized for gaming. X3D models work better because they have more cache.

Zen3 tends to have 3600mhz as the acceptable level for DRAM frequency.

    It depends.

GuiltySpark_ got a reaction from EzioWar in how tedious and costly is the maintenance of liquid cpu cooler?
No way to tell. You can have one that dies in two months or in 5+ years. Its the gamble you take. Or, you buy an air cooler (of which there are a number of them that perform as well or better than a 240mm AIO) and they last forever. Easier to setup for new users, too. (In my experience most new users have a limited understanding of fan curves let alone managing the fans and pump curves.
