  1. After some more inspection, i suspect that it is either the setting of my network card? or most likely that i am not correctly provisioned by Bell Aliant. this seems most likey as the speeds match perfectly with the tier directly below the one i subscribe to. unfortunately, i have no way to know as i cant get a straight answer from the Bell Aliant Call center.. it seems like the agents dont know thier ass from a whole in the ground. like if they were to walk by a gapping whole in the ground they would stop, stare into the abyss and then say inquizitively to themselves.. "is,.. is that my ass??? "
  2. and to be fair that is the reason i am angry.. I was getting 450 down and 350 up. but the market plan in my area changed from the 450/350 for $250 monthly to 940/100 for $150 monthly. but it is crap all i got was a downgrade in upload speed.. no increase in the download area. actually that is lower now too..
  3. its an Actiontec R3000 combo unit, so it is a Modem/Router Combo unit. this connects directly to the ONT. as for your first question, Market rate for the service is $149/Mo But I get about 45% OFF as a Bell Employee.. the discount is a perk of Bell Owning Bell Aliant.
  4. That is my first thought as well problem is I can transfer across my LAN at 700+ mbps easily.
  5. Does anyone know of any reason why the speed tests in chrome edge (winodws 10) show 2 different speed results? edge gets like 600 and chrome and everything else gets abotu 350 mbps
  6. I am having a very hard time getting anywhere near the gigabit speeds from My ISP (BELL ALIANT FIBREOP) here is the system.. I have a GIGABIT NIC 2 SSDs in RAID 0 and 4 7200 RPM HDD in RAID 0 as well.. plus 6 GB ram and a PHENOM x3 CPU the ISP claimes that they are able to get a gigabit from their end to my ONT and Modem. but I can only get up to about 300 mbps.. down,.. my UPLOAD is claimed at 100 mbps but I get about 120 mbps so that is fine, just the download is not working great.
  7. I am having a very hard time making a choice on what i want... the pc i want is one that can play games from time to time, then some video producton as well . just a little bit, only for fun. and then, something that i will enjoy watching videos on.. youtube is just better without stutters on a 1080p video. i currently have a phenom x3 8400 ..@ stock speeds as i cant overclock on the acer motherboard. there is 6 GB of DDR2 RAM and 2 500 GB hard disk drives in RAID 0 ..running windows 7 ultimate. now, i cant decide desktop or laptop.. as i have a $1000 budget for either of them. im leaning towrds the desktop as i can always buy a better gpu when i need it or whatever component i want to upgrade.. or whateven.. when some laptops support upgrading the HDD to SSD and some RAM upgrades. but, not much else.. i would like to see one that can also have a GPU upgrade. that would be cool as hell.. but ya know .. i dont know of any.. i also would like to something that will last as long as possible. any ideas? the laptop is possible because of the mobilty .. being able to use it anywhere i want.. like to the city bus going to work/schooll is awesome.
  8. Over the last 2 weeks i have been trying to find just the right pc for what i want to do.. I would like to be able to game/some video production/ just basic video consumption on youtube. now, i have a budget of $1000 and under. I would like to be able to have the option of working and playing mobile. as is a notebook/laptop but then again, i just cant get past the idea of a desktop due to the ease of upgrades and the ease of customization.. so any help with ideas here would be awesome.. i also lean towards a desktop as i want my 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son to get thier beaks wet with pc building. they love to use them to play games and watch videos on youtube.. so i want them to know how a pc inner workings are layed out so they wont take them for granted like so many kids do...
