  1. You remind me that I need to give Little Witch Academia (TV) a try. I wouldn't have otherwise. I forgot I had watched the movies and found it passable. It reminds me of Mahou Shoujo-tai Arasu because of the setting. (Which I've not finished yet either, it has 40 episodes sheesh).

Do people still use this place?

  3. Guys guys, Aria the Avvenire episode 2 is released. I'm happy like a little child!
  4. I don't like crybabies "MC" 's (looking at you Deadman Wonderland and Shingeki). That lame dude is mental through 11 episodes.
  5. Great, keep the suggestions coming. But please include links from either Animenewsnetwork, Anidb or MyAnimeList (last prefered). Other sites might be / are structured confusingly or lack information needed. It helps copying information into our internal suggestion collection used for the weekly votes. Also don't use line breaks in your recommendtions, that'd help too
  6. Aria might not be everyone's cup of chai, but it sure is mine.
  7. @valdyrgramr Akira was wonderful (the manga especially!!). Could you replace the links to streaming sites with corresponding ones to myanimelist, anidb or animenewsnetwork to make it easier for us please. (In your first list).
  8. Ofc I'm gonna vote for Erin Space Brothers was also interesting (a sequel is planned right?), if you dig space and all that. The brother buddy stuff was getting annoying though. Soo Planetes is still the anime of the "near future space genre" for me.
  9. Good comedy: Gintama It never gets boring, knows no taboo and plenty of action. Gintama takes a lot of stereotypical characters and puts them in absurdly funny situations. This will make you LOL for real! I've never scene an anime that can revolve 20 minutes around a hotpot but still be so amusing (ep 25). Gintama is mostly episodic with short to midlong arcs in between. It's perfect to watch on and off. Shinryaku! Ika Musume (The Invader Comes from the Sea) Ika-chan the squid girl comes from the deep sea to invade all land. Well she didn't get very far. Cute and hilarious. Uchouten Kazoku (The Eccentric Family) Uchouten Kazoku isn't purely comedy and quite ... different. Clever at times. Hard to explain what is going on which probably makes this anime so appealing. Something about a fight between Tanuki families!? Doesn't matter, it saved my summer season. Hayate no Gotoku! (Hayate the Combat Butler) Hayate is a really unlucky boy. His parents shove all depts onto him, he has to run from the Yakuza and ends up as a combat butler for the wealthy spoiled tsundere Nagi. He's constantly fending of a cunning talking tiger (only he understands), a geezer that wants to kick him out of the mansion and lots of different loving characters. Inukami! Comedy in this one revolves around perverts and fetishs. But in contrary to Amaenaide yo!! or Green Green it also has a cute romance sidestory with the dog girl(s) that actually goes somewhere towards the end and makes it worthwhile to watch. Still not enough?
  10. Sweet, I didn't know Aria The Avvenire was coming already! Happy New Year!
  11. Hmm Working'!! final "episode 14" is out.
  12. I'm talking about Nichijou and that Azumanga Daiho and School Rumble are similar genre-wise but exceute it better. Nichijou seems like a copy of those two but with lots of random Japanese insider jokes.
  13. NGNL fantranslation of volume 7 ch 1. is done: "Direct download link " Original thread: http://www.jcafe24.net/index.php?topic=35012
  14. Idk. It feels like a copy of Azumanga Daiho and School Rumble but with too many insiders and on the "randomy comedy" side with some serious toilet humour nothing beats Gintama.
  15. Crest of the Stars / Banner of the Stars My all time favorite. It's a science fiction anime playing in times of intergalactic warfare. Crest / Banner of the Stars is incredibly detailed. It includes everything you'd expect from a sci-fi saga: Space scenery and travel, space battles with many, huge ships and equally destructive weaponry, economy and politics. Even a whole language was invented by the authors. You follow two main characters: Lafiel leads the way on her war-filled path to becoming Empress of the Abh empire and Jinto openly admitting he just wants to be with Lafiel. The romance is progressing really slow between the two in return it feels genuine. It's probably best compared with SnW in that regard.
  16. I'm still waiting for the successor of this one, that lets you cut off limbs / body parts
  17. Long running slice of Life recommendations: (Copied some info from good reviews) Natsume Yuujinchou (4 seasons) Very rooted characters with a touch of comedy and sometimes a slight melancholy looming in the background. This mix is probably the best way of describing Natsume. Which also makes it very unlike other anime's that normally air. Aria The Animation (3 seasons) The story is about Akari and her goal of becoming a gondolier in Neo Venice. It's all about friendship, growing up and pursuing your dreams. Aria is probably *the* slice of life anime in existence. One of the most calming and relaxing anime's I've seen so far. It can really grow on you too. Kemono no Souja Erin (50 episodes) This anime follows the life of Erin that wants to become a "beastarian", beasts to be used in war. While its a story made for children (playing in the same fantasy land as Seirei no Moribito), Kemono no Souja Erin addresses adult topics at a mature level. The target audiences’ age is somewhat irrelevant, because the characters bloom, especially Erin. She’s a child character the viewer can admire and adore. Following her journey through childhood and into her teenage years, she comes to life as one of the most well developed characters I’ve come across. Coupled with nicely fitting music and a special artstyle this anime is a real "hidden gem". Mushishi (3 seasons) We had that already.
  18. Btw, I was able to bridge this season with a rare find: Kemono no Souja Erin. I think it is very underrated / unknown. It's meant to be a kids anime, but it's also one of those that even adults can enjoy. If you liked Seirei no Mribito (same world, author), Spice and Wolf, Aria, Mushishi, Natsume or Juuni Kokuki give it a try. It has a same feel to it but with unique elements and artstyle. Its wonderfully 50 episode long so well made for a drought or two Also the music is beautiful. I might write a full recommendion in the dedicated suggestion read one day. Nice OSTs:
  19. HL3 conformed haha Still there's a bunch I'll try the coming season. Very low expectation though. Atleast the outlook is slightly better than this "One Punch / Owarimonogatari / Utawarerumono" season: - Akagami no Shirayuki-hime 2: Season 1 was alright. It ended too abruptly and didn't clear everything up so glad they are continuing it. - Haruchika: Sounds fine and PA.Works draws well. The characters look different then the usual PA.Work ones. - Dagashi Kashi: Reading the manga. Explaining Japanese sweets with some basic story tacked on. - Gate 2: I'm invested too heavy in it for some reason to drop it at this point. However the manga just took a turn to the worst generic adventure / zombie style kind of story - Hai to Gensou no Grimgar: Just wan't to see what game style it will follow and what will differ from .Hack, SAO, Log Horizon, Danmachi and Overlord. - Ooya-san wa Shishunki: Might turn out to be a good filler / time killer - Shoujo-tachi wa Kouya wo Mezasu: Who knows. VN smells like bad harem though. Doesn't need those features to be "one of those" anime. Fanservice is already in the premise / description.
  20. Ugh another dry season with kiddy shounen or magical shoujo stuff mostly and the slice of life / josei look boring. As I speak german, I can assure you, that this is a really bad silly combination of words. Makes no sense and is even grammatically incorrect. It's like "blackeningedmarksingeds"
  21. So mechas are different in Gurren Lagann or play a negligable role? I hate mechas.
  22. Katanagari has an unique style and characters. I might watch Gurren Lagan some day, the "mecha" like part is putting me off for now.
  23. The wise man was referring to Cowboy Bebop. Code Geass is one of the few anime I dropped, that means a lot, because what I once started I normally fight through. "Code Geass sux". Discuss
