  1. The core 2 duo T9900 should work that is if the mother board supports it. Somebody fact check me.
  2. Socket P is an up-gradable laptop socket but make sure what ever CPU you get it's the same TDP or lower else you'll stress your battery and cooling.
  3. i have a old atom netbook with 1gb of ram and lubuntu run extremely well. Considering how my net book is weaker than what your using i think it should work fine.
  4. Thanks networking isn't my specialty so i really didn't even know there was a difference and i was basically calling both a hub.
  5. My old 4 port Ethernet switch died on me and due to the fact that i want to hook up to more devices up to it i would have to upgrade anyways because the internet connection took up one port and i already had devices hooked up to it already. I'm going to be hooking up my main setup, my ps3 (the way the wifi is set up at my school game consoles can't connect to the wifi only ethernet), my Linux/render setup and a NAS build that will back up my computers. It'll also have to have a port available to for an internet hookup. It has to be relatively cheap because I'm a poor college student and can only dump so much money on stuff like this. Thanks
  6. It looks nice despite the fact that the red black color scheme is a bit common. How is the case though? I'm thinking of building my next system in the white version of that case.
  7. Your brother is an idiot about computers don't let him convince mom to buy us 2 e machines saying they are super up-gradable when in fact the one you get has a shitty e series cpu that's not up-gradable. Get an old core 2 computer instead they are more powerful cheaper and faster.
  8. it'll be as thin as the pci slot. and perform like it's as thin as the pci slot.
  9. We kind of already started this thread here but i thought it deserved it's own thread. So what do you think would happen if apple made a dedicated desktop GPU? What would it's performance be? what would it look like? what features would it have? how would it cost? ect
  10. Lol i can just imagine apple selling gpu's. they'll be more expensive while being under powered but they'll have a crap ton of features, a great gpu control panel and some games will only run on them.
  11. I got one at Walmart a few weeks ago. Also with that title he definitely needs a new keyboard.
  12. other than the motherboard that is one sick system.
  13. The Ethernet port on my motherboard is non operational. I think it's either a faulty port or i need extra drivers. I don't think ill find Linux compatible drivers for sense i pulled the board from an old hp system and i do not have the time or patience to try to fix the port (or even look for a problem). So i decided to just take the easy route and get a Ethernet card. The available expansion ports on the board that aren't being are a PCI slot and a PCIe 1x slot. I'd prefer the card be PCIe but i'll spring for a PCI if it's cheap and good enough. My system is running Ubuntu 15.10. Make sure it's compatible with Linux i'm not paying money for something that doesn't work with my system. For those who care my system specs are CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 GPU: GTX 960 RAM: 8 Gb
  14. all monitors works if you have the right ports on your machine. the question will they line up well.
  15. if you do decide to do 1070 sli keep in mind you can only 2 way as 3 and 4 way is no longer officially supported.
  16. i should of pointed out the gpu i'm just used to 970's being the standard gpu i guess. don't get a 970 get a 1060 or a rx 480 if you can find one. 970 aren't worth it anymore.
  17. i don't know how much it cost in the uk but you should be able to afford a i5 6600k and a good Z170 mother board and some new ram. You should probably ask someone who lives in the uk though.
  18. it's okay. the cpu doesn't have a very good upgrade path though.
