  1. So my current build is about 2 years old and has a crappy upgrade path (Looking back I should never of used an FX processor) so I've decided it's about time to put together another Gaming rig. But as I am broke college I can't afford to buy all the parts for a new PC all at once. So I've decided I'm going to build the computer of the course of a couple of months buying it a few components at a time. My Major goal with this build is to have a good upgrade path so that this system can last for a good while. I'm thinking of a budget of $1000 - $2000 but because this is a long term build my budget is very flexible. Here is my current Idea on what the build is going to look like. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9cFdRG First off that GPU is what my current system is running I'm going to carry it over to my new system to use temporary and buy a brand new GPU last. When I do get a new GPU I'm probably going to go with a 1070 or wait even longer and get an 1170 or whatever it will be called when that comes out. currently this is the 1070 I'm eyeing. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126109 The first thing I'm going to buy is the monitor as I need a new monitor ASAP as my other monitors are crap and it's even holding my current system back.
  2. Also on the hackintosh side be sure to go online and see if your components will work with an hackintosh install.
  3. and i just saw that you posted what motherboard you're using and you definitely have do get DDR4 ram if you're getting that board.
  4. Just note finding a motherboard that supports DDR3 with that CPU may be a bit difficult as most 1151 motherboards only support DDR4.
  5. Honestly you would of probably gotten more success out attaching a fan on top cup filled with water to "liquid cool" your cpu than trying to cast a heat sink in your first few tries.
  6. Also I hear ryzen preorders are mostly sold out by so getting a ryzen chip may be really hard in the next month.
  7. Depends on what gpu you have. But with that cpu and with the kinds of games you say you're playing i doubt you'll need a new cpu.
  8. anymore surveys y'all want me to do?
  9. i did your survey.
  10. If i was gay i would never tell my mom unless i was just about to be married. So i would definitely test the waters and have a back up plan like have a job and make sure you have a car in your name. Also if they are really opposed to it it may be worth it to wait quite a while longer to come out. Also you could warm your parents up to the idea like instead of coming out instantly you could just let your parents know you support LGBT groups making less of a surprise when you do come out. But no matter what you have to consider if it's worth risking losing your parents if you do come out or if you don't if it's worth hiding your true self and possibly making your mental health worse. Either option is terrifying so i would make what ever move you make carefully.
  11. you would have to modify a gamecube to usb adapter to fit. i think the one released by nintendo for wii u has a pc mode but you'll have to fact check me on that one.
  12. First time i saw Ryan Vickers name i thought it said Ryan Dickers.
  13. an hd 4000 can run portal 2 pretty well so tf2 should run off of it fine.
  14. whats your current rig?
  15. i think a better name for the thread is Linus Trump Tips.
  16. you should probably pick up a better core 2 quad if you can. otherwise i ship it.
  17. im not the biggest fan of the name but atleast the name is better than wii u
  18. At least this time they have an excuse for not being as powerful as the competitors. the xbone and ps4 ain't mobile consoles. also who else thinks the dock probably holds extra processing hardware to help with bigger resolutions?
  19. Well i can tell you with out a shadow of a doubt that that laptop doesn't have a desktop CPU. His first language could be french? LOL people are fighting over my words.
  20. yeah that has a 6th gen CPU. and sense all 6th gen mobile CPUs are BGA sockets (they're soldered on) they are nearly impossible to replace.
  21. that link is not to the Lenovo y700 that link is to the Inspiron 7559 which funnily enough is what i have. But any new laptop will only allow the ram and storage drives to be upgraded. So if you are talking about ram and storage. If you're talking about CPU and GPU no those can not be upgraded.
