  1. This.

Most programs will utilize as much RAm as possible/available. Doesn't mean that you're legitimately needing 32GB ram

    Ok .. simple question

What data do they fill that RAM with? Just random junk?

What you said is not true at all.

Software will use as much memory as it is programmed to use. It will not take up memory unless it is instructed to take up memory. Every bit that is used is used for a reason.

  2. Defragging an SSD does zero good as they don't fragment and uses LOADS of write cycles for no reason..

    Thus harming.

Also, a typical SSD will last at over 800TB written data. You would have to defrag the SSD tens of thousands of times to kill it. Get real.

  3. 1. Yes it is

    2. You were very misleading

Please explain how the act of defragging a SSD will in any way harm it.

The reason people dont recommend it is because of the waste of write cycles, not because the act/concept of defragging causes any harm itself.

  4. Is Ccleaner ok for an SSD?

    Yes I also recommend defraggler

Wtf defragging is really bad for an SDD!!!!!!

    1. No it isnt

    2. it wont defrag SSDs

It is made by piriform just like Ccleaner. He more than likely has mechanical drives as well.

  5. we need to send aditional data with the picture, userID and postID, that way we can link the pic's to their user and posts

Store the paths/urls in the database. You will find that storing the images themselves in the database is much more expensive.

If you need to send aditional information then encode that data using XML/JSON in your applicaton and send it with the image URL/path.

  6. I currently have a Sony Vaio T series "ultrabook". Battery won't last longer than 1.75 hours. It's a piece of s***, and won't do me any good at school. Gonna sell it.

I'm looking for some suggestions for a thin (ultrabook?) Windows laptop with very good battery life. I am a Goodle Docs / Dropbox user so hdd/ssd doesn't have to be large. I don't need a high performance laptop because my desktop has performance on lockdown. Basically, I need something that can run chrome, word and a mathematics or development program.

    To summarize:

    • Thin
    • Long battery life
    • 128GB or 256GB ssd
    • No smaller than 13-inch
    • Enough horsepower for a couple programs at once
    • Under $1000?

I know not all these conditions are easily met but I am having trouble finding something that will suit my needs. The closest I can come up with is the XPS 13, but if there is something with better reviews or specs/price let me know.

    Many thanks!

    p.s I am in Canada

  7. Apple just announced the Macbook. Which is probably the thinnest laptop out there. But this thing had no I/O at all. All it has is a charging port and a headphone jack. How are you supposed to use this thing without even USB ports? What if I want to use a mouse. Can someone explain how this will work? I do like that it uses a 1440p screen (sort of not a standard 1440p). And I love the fact that the made use of Intel's Brodwell. I always said the laptops couldn't get any thinner because the ports would make the laptop thicker then it needed to be. But looks like Apple decided to go ahead and ditch them. They missed out on 1 thing. This would make sense as a 12" iPad with a keyboard that was running MAC OSX. But it's not touchscreen. It would make so much more sense if it were. The one other thing is if they put just 1 thunderbolt connected, I could at least adapt to USB if needed. Someone please explain this. And no, "It's Apple what do you expect" type posts.

    Its pretty fucking simple

If it lacks features you need ... dont buy one. Get something else.

People always make these edgey posts after Apple events for some reason.

  8. Was wondering where I could get some velour replacements for the 595. I bought the PC350 recently and know I will hate the stock ear pads. Apparently they have the same clip on thing or whatever. I seen some replacements on Amazon but with mediocre reviews.

Sennheiser has a replacement parts shop. Tweet them or email them and try and get them for free first. They have sent me replacement parts for products under a year old.

I dont buy sennhesier anymore. I ahve had too many products fall apart from normal daily use.

  9. In that context, the only drawback I can see with a portable unit is the actual unit itself ( they're quite big...mine is anyway (huehue))becoming a nuisance.

I have a portable unit; the unit sits inside the house with intake and exhaust tubes routed to the window.

I have an exhaust tube already in a place that is easy to connect a portable AC unit up to. I guess the installation would be hugely cheaper

LG just made a smart watch that solves perhaps one of the bigger issues with smart watches - the battery. This time by doing the easy thing and straight up doubling the battery size while introducing a slightly redone design with some more buttons and a LTE abilities as well.

Since this doesn't use Android Wear, there is a chance (is there any chance at all LG, please say so) that this could work on all platforms with some form of companion app a la the Pebble and MS Band. I hope they do, because I like that watch design a lot. @LinusTech, get your hands on one of these?

Looks cheap and tacky. Cant imagine many people buying this.
