  1. My favorite is the Dimora Mousepad because IT'S FRAMED? WHAT? And it just looks so damn elegant and beautiful and ahahhghggghhhhaAAAAhhhh
  2. Ok well I guess it's working fine now... there must be something weird going on as sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's not, but I'm just not gonna worry about it, for now at least.
  3. Well apparently MSI Afterburner just has a bug or something, as I now used the GPU-Z monitor to check my gpu clock speed and its around 1200MHz... Should've realized it was something like that considering how my performance wasn't horrible. EDIT: Annnddd of course right after I posted this I started up a game again and the problem came back even with GPU-Z. Now I'm seriously confused
  4. Yes, all the "data" I provided was from when my laptop was plugged in. Thanks for asking though, added to post
  5. First of all, I wanna start this out by saying that I am not very good with computers, nor do I have exstensive knowledge about them. The problem that I am encountering is that my 960m is running at only 540mhz in every game I have tried, including GTA V, Borderlands 2, Trine 2, Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: Battlefront: Beta, and many, many more. Here are my laptop's specs: ^I tried to include as much as possible, but if I'm missing something important, I'm happy to provide more. Anyways, I am using MSI Afterburner to see the framerate, GPU temperature, GPU clock speed, GPU usage, VRAM clock speed and VRAM usage, and am using the built in Resource Monitor to see CPU and RAM usage. Playing games, my CPU rarely maxes out, usually sitting around 50%, and my RAM also usually sits around 50% or less (without a game running my RAM sits around 20% because of background apps, Chrome which is always open with, etc.) My CPU for some reason likes to sit around 3.4 GHz clock speed when idle which is a bit odd considering it's base clock speed is 2.6 GHz, but that doesn't seem to cause any problems (other than I suppose unnecessary power consumption and possible extra heat, but I'm not too worried about those right now). As for my GPU, while playing Star Wars: Battlefront Beta (but other games yield similar results), the GPU usage sits at around 90% usage on the menu and in loading screens (most likely because I turned on maximum performance mode in the NVIDIA Control Panel attempting to fix this problem), and 99% while actually playing the game. The core temperature sits at around 60-70 degrees Celsius on menus and loading screens, and 70-80 (usually ~74) degrees while in game. The clock speed sits at 540MHz even though the base clock speed is 1097MHz. As for the VRAM, I didn't record any data as I don't see how that could be a factor, but one thing I did note is that the usage usually sits around 1 GB, and never reaches the maximum 2GB. Things I have tried to fix the problem: Updating my GPU driver Setting power management mode to maximum performance in the NVIDIA control panel Updating my BIOS with the newest version on the official Asus support downloads page Unplugging my mouse to see if maybe my GPU wasn't being provided with enough power Restarting my computer multiple times Made sure the laptop was plugged in and properly being provided with power One last thing to note is that I looked at multiple discussions on other forums and apparently there was a known problem with an older BIOS version of this laptop that caused thermal throttling at 74 degrees which lowered the GPU clock speed to a similar 540MHz, but I don't see how this could be my issue as the other people experiencing this problem said that they fixed it by updating to a newer BIOS version which has raised the thermal throttling threshold to 82 degrees, but I also have updated my BIOS and nothing has changed. And also the GPU sticks to 540MHz even under 74 degrees (~68-72). Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to make sure I included as much details as possible so hopefully this could be resolved fairly quickly, as I would like to be able to have slightly (or possibly greatly) better performance in my games. I would greatly appreciate any possible solutions that you may have! Thank you so much for taking your time to read my problem
  6. Selective focus has gotta be my favorite. I don't know why, I just find it so cool!
  7. Well the version I got is probably different than the one you're used to, so I'll figure it out.
  8. So ThrottleStop did seem to unpark the cores. Thank you! And by the way, which profile for ThrottleStop do you think I should use (Performance, Game, Internet, Batterry) when I'm on AC? I'm guessing either performance or game.
  9. No, the BIOS is very simple, all I can really change is the boot order, enable and disable networking, etc.
  10. I have tried unparking my CPU cores using different utilities, even manually editing the registry, but it just doesn't seem to do anything. When I open up resource monitor, 3 cores still are parked. Yes, I have restarted my computer multiple times. I have an Intel Core i7-4700MQ 2.40GHZ, and yes I am on a laptop, and I understand that it might not be a great idea to unpark my CPU. Does anyone know why it's not working?
  11. You know how I said I'm on a laptop? Well when it's not connected to power, it doesn't perform very well. So, I guess my power brick just simply didn't have a good enough connection to the wall, so I just plugged it in further, and my problem was solved. I feel so stupid, as I considered reinstalling Windows before just making sure I had a secure connection to power. Sorry for wasting anyone's time Is there anyway to just completely close this thread? Because I seriously doubt anybody else is going to make this silly mistake.
  12. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, other than reformatting and reinstalling Windows, but I really don't want to do that, and I know there must be another way to fix it. Can nobody even figure out what's causing the problem?
  13. I performed a clean install of an older driver that everything was running fine on, but now the GPU memory clock speed is just stuck at 405 mhz! I can't even change the clock speed using MSI Afterburner anymore! I'll restart my computer 1-3 times, and see if that solves anything.
