  1. My parents internet is hosted by the local telephone company. Recently the modem has been having issues due to my heavy use. I am looking for a good VDSL compliant modem/router to replace it with. Wireless isn't important as i have a xclaim Xi-3 for wireless access.
  2. Recently i have been interested in purchasing a drawing tablet for a relative that is art and though the internet contains all the information i need, it is also vast. With this particular market, is relatively difficult to make a choice without external introductions. That is why i thought the good people of Linus media group might be willing to get involved. This is more or less a way generate interest in the matter and see how many others have also had this thought.
  3. I found this post that answered my question. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/300419-28-debugging-needed-motherboard
  4. I found this article that describes my issue perfectly. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/300419-28-debugging-needed-motherboard
  5. It does not boot at all anymore.
  6. Yes it was working before I installed the gpu. No there want any weird sounds happening. What did you do to fix the shorting issue?
  7. I dont think so since it is powering everything else just fine and there are two different connectors that can be used to power the cpu. After the initial wierd power issue, Witch may not have really been one, I have seen no problems with the power supply.
  8. I recently built a computer with these specs: Power Supply: Fatal1ty 750W 80Plus Bronze Semi-Modular ATX PC Power Supply Mother Board: ASRock 990FX Extreme9 Processor: AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor Ram: ADATA USA XPG V2 Series 16GB DDR3 2400 PC3 19200 (8GBx2) Kit AX3U2400W8G11-DGV I managed to get the system running and used it for 2 months without problems. Today i got a EVGA GeForce GTX 970 and attempted to hook it up to my system. After hooking everything up i found that when i pushed the power button the system would turn on and off in a split second. After closer inspection i found that disconnecting the ATX 12V Power Connector (ATX12V1) at the top of the mobo would let the system power up but not post. I made sure that all cables and ram were securely connected everywhere and even removed everything and tested with just the motherboard but the results remain the same. I tried clearing the cmos thinking it might be some internal setting that was causing it to stay off without luck. Note: i had an issue the first time i set the card up. I used some 6 pin cables that i assumed worked with my graphics card to hook it up directly to the power supply instead of using the converting cables that came with the GPU. Everything turned on but it seamed like the system wasn't getting enough power. After removing the card all attempts at starting it are as stated above. In the end i have concluded that ether my cpu is dead or the mobo has some short before it hits the cpu.
  9. I tried plugging in the both mother board power connectors, i assume that's what you mean by "plug that connector in the right way", and i moved the cmos jumper to the clear position. When i tried powering up it still flickered on and off. i even switched the cmos jumper back to the normal position but with the same result.
  10. I was running a Zontac GTX 9600. The system will only power on for a split second if the ATX 12V Power Connector at the top of the mobo is plugged in regardless of my configuration. Other wise everything will kick on but the motherboard will not post.
  11. FYI, I am completely new to building computers. After hooking everything up i found that when i pushed the power button the system would turn on and off in half a split second. After closer inspection i found that disconnecting the ATX 12V Power Connector (ATX12V1) at the top of the mobo would let the system power up but not let it post. I made sure that all cables and ram were securely connected everywhere but the results remain the same. Have i destroyed my motherboard?
