0ld_Chicken got a reaction from Septimus in Darn Good Deal, Am I Missing Something?
If it is ebay, then the current auction price means nothing at all. Most people will just wait until the end to make a bid so the price will shoot up in the last minutes

SSD's definitely, they're light and don't damage as easily as HDD. HDD are heavier too so I'd only tape them if they're already sitting flat on a surface.

0ld_Chicken got a reaction from Vigilante505 in Worth putting liquid metal TIM on GPU
I've never had issues with it "clogging" anything but the particles do settle anywhere they can, mostly dead spots in the loop and between surfaces like threads of fittings. I've had it last anywhere from a week to 4 months depending on the loop. Its a pain but SO beautiful!

0ld_Chicken reacted to For Science! in i cant get my watercooled pc pump to start up
I literally thought you died for a moment.
To summarize the situation, the pump had a incomplete circuit due to OP connecting a PCI power cable into the PERIF PSU output, meaning that the molex output had completely different wiring than than standard molex. We fixed it by briding the correct connections.
Long live MS paint
Long story short: OP needs to go find the proper PERIF cable from EVGA

0ld_Chicken reacted to vanished in [US] Mionix Naos 7000 ($25)
This is a bit of an odd post since this is actually not a sale, but the regular price. I just felt a need to bring it up since it seems much lower than it should be.
Mionix NAOS 7000 for $25 US at the Microsoft Store
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/d/Mionix-Naos-7000-Ergonomic-Gaming-Mouse/8SVWVVMQCK0D
So why am I posting this if it's not even a sale? Because of this:
$59 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/MIONIX-Multi-Color-Ergonomic-Optical-Gaming/dp/B00HGKQ6VY/
Straight from Mionix themselves? €69 (ie, $80+ USD)
I checked Micro Center, they didn't seem to stock them. Not sure where else you guys get parts but I expect it to be a similar story
Basically it's just a great deal from somewhere I wouldn't have even expected to have it so I thought I'd spread the word in case anyone else is looking for this mouse
Oh yea, did I mention that $25 includes free shipping?

Good, get mayhems tubing, or the EK ZMT stuff is also great.

0ld_Chicken reacted to Damascus in Best small tube res or res/pump combo (have a d5)
Its not a bad price but it would be about $75 here so the extra 25 is pretty easy to make over it. Personal opinion ofc but man, the heatkiller...

0ld_Chicken reacted to mayhems in Nano Graphene Water Cooling Coolant In Development
Hello All.
Yes we have been working with CPI for a very long time so the message starter on OCN is a little deceiving and ill correct that. We have worked with CPI in the past to make several coolants more stable and the knowledge we have gained from that is allowing us to produce a new coolant from the ground up. The new coolant is a Graphene based type product (cannot go into much detail about it).
What are its advantages so far and why make it?
1) Its is Chemically inert to PH imbalances.
2) Uses a very limited amount of chemicals.
3) Possibly up to 20 to 30% better cooling than water alone (tested in lab environment not real world as of yet).
4) 1 nm thick (pastel is 40nm and aurora 40 to 100nm)
5) Completely new tech never been done before.
6) Uses tech that lubricates pumps and o-rings on the fly with out wetting them.
7) Will prolong the life of your equipment.
8) Should out last the life of your PC. (TBC)
9) Initially will cost a little more to start with but should come down in price as and if we do go into full production,
Why do it ... why not :).
Initially it will not be coloured as this effects its raw performance.

The res is fine, a cursory look at the page says the only aluminum is on the external brackets.

0ld_Chicken reacted to Mick Naughty in Horizontal Mounted Reservoir?
I moved mine in preparation for hardline. Fill port faces the back where I remove a pci cover to fill it. I put the case on its face an a fill it and leave it there for a bit to bleed as the pump is still below the res.

0ld_Chicken reacted to TheRandomness in How powerful of an AIO do you need to cool a GPU?
Considering a thick 120mm radiator can cool 2 R9 290s, a single 120mm AiO should do fine.

The fan will only take as much as the motherboard gives it, so 12V

0ld_Chicken got a reaction from LogicalDrm in Fan Header in EVGA Board
only way you really need to worry about exceeding the 1a limit is by hooking up too many fans. Check the amperage (a) listing for the particular fans you're using to see how many you can safely plug into a single header. The bios won't allow you to go above 12v.
Example: .25a max draw fans= 4 or less fans on a single header
