TheDigitalRealm reacted to Recon-UK in [UK] Asus R9 290X DirectCU II OC with Free Asus Cerberus
I have had 3 bad AMD ASUS boards, these were AM3 though, i took a deep nose dive into AM3+ with ASUS, so far it is good.
As for the one person defending ASUS here, he obviously is either lying, or has a good sample, most users have terrible DCUII 290 cards.
There are literally tonnes of complaints about the 280x DCUII artifacting too.

Yeah, since getting my 290X lightnings, I've decided not to buy ASUS Graphics cards from now on, mostly because their Customer Service and warranty are horrible to deal with. From now on it'll just be ASUS motherboards for me. MSI are looking very solid at the moment.

ASUS are seriously shit right now, their 280x cards artifact like a bastard too.

That's not what TTL's review said. Check out the review of the 290X Matrix. It uses the same DCU2 cooler, he said it was hitting 90 degrees under 100% synthetic load.

TheDigitalRealm reacted to HeathCliff in IS THIS REALLY THE PRICE?
That is not the final price. You might want to put in your postcode and then look at the total. The 'Estimated Tax & Duty' and 'Shipping' gives me a grand total of £541.10...so you might want to reconsider. If only NewEgg made a warehouse in the UK. That way, we won't have to pay crazy amounts of money just to get it here.

RIP. *Imagines a Viking Burial, laying the GPU down on a boat, setting it alight and watching it drift off into the distance*
*Single tear rolls down face
Maybe it's a sign? A sign that you need to upgrade your system....

I personally own the Enthoo primo, i can assure you the air flow in the case is very well designed form front to back, down and up.

TheDigitalRealm reacted to Excon in best full tower
That is far from optimal airflow and it is over priced and uses its space terribly.

TheDigitalRealm reacted to MegaDave91 in 4k on ati 7850 CrossFire
General consensus is you really shouldn't even be thinking about gaming at 4k unless you're willing to spend a few thousand dollars on graphics cards.

TheDigitalRealm reacted to ForsakenLive in Do the non-reference R290 cards fix the problems it had with high temps and noise?
Yes, R9 290s like the Sapphire Vapor-X, are very cool and quiet. The bad temps and noise come from the Stock cooler.
XFX, Powercolor, Sapphire, Gigabyte, MSI, are all very good.

TheDigitalRealm reacted to winningsince1337 in Do the non-reference R290 cards fix the problems it had with high temps and noise?
Yup, just don't get a Asus 290(x), they just slapped a 780 cooler that doesn't even have half the heat pipes touching the GPU.

TheDigitalRealm got a reaction from Sonefiler in Questioning r9 290 for my build...
I'd definitely recommend this card for air cooling configuration, in many of the reviews I've seen, the core overclocked to almost the same level as the 290X Lightning does, albeit with a lower memory clock due to MSI using cherry-picked Samsung memory chips.

I really want to see a water-cooled dual system inside that Mini XL. Gaming rig and game server in one. That'd be so freaking awesome.

They actually don't take much experience. You put a res. to a pump. A tube from the pump to the block(CPU or GPU), then a tube from the block to a rad. and then from the rad to the res. I learned in about 4 hours.
You can also go in pretty much any order, I was just giving an example.
And a single CPU loop would only be about $250-$300.
