TheDigitalRealm got a reaction from TheIcedCanadian in Coloured tubing or Dyed coolant?
So, I'm looking at building my first PC, and at first, will be using a swiftech H220. However, I'd like to move on from that as quickly as possible, so I've been looking into components for a loop.

I'm going for a Black, Red and White/chrome RoG themed build, and was wondering:

Is it easier find air bubbles in the loop with clear tubing?
Is it harder to maintain with coloured (Red) tubing?
I've been told that dye looks better in de-ionised water than it does in Mayhems Ice Dragon coolant, true?
Would Ice Dragon make any real difference to temperatures compared with de-ionised water?

I'll be using Primochill Advanced LRT for my loop.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Okay...where to start.

On the topic of monitors, I'd wait a year or two and let the market saturate first, there aren't really many out there at the moment yet. As for the keyboard and mouse, you really need to give us a budget so we can recommend you something within your price range.

Yeah, I see this being a decent product to recommend to parents and relatives who won't use the horsepower and that just want to browse the internet , send mails and enjoy social media. But if you are my friend I will definitely not recommend this for your use

I agree, a self-built system will certainly offer them more options as far as hardware goes, but for the majority who just want a solution now and don't want to bother with building it, I think it's a great solution seeing as most households don't need the performance of i5's and i7's in their desktop, and don't need the majority of Windows-specific applications. For the OP, if he's considering buying it I'd strongly recommend building a system and running a Linux distro. We're on a PC enthusiast forum are we not?

If we're just objectively commenting on the product as a whole, then yes it's a good product that suites a lot of peoples needs, but I doubt it's suitable for the majority on this forum.

TheDigitalRealm got a reaction from Speedbird in Installing a sound/SSD/capture card on a x16 pci-e slot possible?
Yes, installing it in a full x16 PCI-e slot will work just fine. It just doesn't have the pins to connect to the rest of the slot. The slot will operate just fine with only the pins on the sound card to connect to.

The evga acx 2.0 cooler looks okay but I'd opt for the twin frozr 5 cooler. I think the only observable difference on the acx cooler is the better fans & more obscure cut out for the edition/logo'ing

It's good to see the partnership with Alphacool. They make great radiators, hopefully these will gain more wide-spread availability, unike the Swiftech H320 and H220 in the UK. They've actually improved over Swiftech's design. It's literally a pre-built custom loop.

I'm interested to see what AMD has to combat it. I'll wait until they release a counter, pick the better of the two performance wise and rock that for the next year.

The Aquila is the exploration variant, isn't it? That one comes with a Rover exploration vehicle. In the commercial it came out of the cargo hold, which made me think about the available cargo space that's left...
I think the Andromeda is the best choice for general moneymaking.

Yeah, I'm afraid I'm going to have to agree. From 16X to 8X the performance hit is pretty much margin of error and barely measurable, but move down to 4X and you start really limiting the bandwidth and, from what I've seen, most GPU's become bottlenecked.

I've got the same case and two 480mm radiators in mine. Putting one in the top blocks off the first 5.25" Bay, and putting one in the bottom means removing the bottom HDD cage.
While you won't be able to fit a 240mm in the front with a bottom 480mm installed, you can still fit a 30mm thick 1
240mm on the side of the case by the HDD cages, although you'd have to remove both of them and use the rear mounted 2.5" drive mounts which would still allow for up to 4 2.5" drives.
