  1. One day to go, and we need to stay strong Folding@Home :-) Give it POWERRRRR!
  2. For every member of LMG: a) What are your main difficulties being an internet "celebrity" regarding your work and home life? b) How do you fell about - almost - everybody being a specialist in anything you do in the channel?
  3. Tech from A to Z, but we prefer in between.
  4. What makes you interested in the ZBOX when compared to a traditional desktop? This PC is exactly what I need. Just because it can be placed in the shelf below my TV, having a big screen to play my favourite games. It's size (pretty small) and flexibility (to place an SSD and fast memory) is very important to me. The specifications is exactly what I need to play at medium to high setting, in order to see those good sunsets.
  5. Very nice plans! Congratulations on the new move I will miss the kitchen. But hey, that is progress... And yes! I would love to see more VLOGs on this LMG evolution.
  6. Your Vessel username: hitardo Links to your two favorite videos on our Vessel page that you watched and liked: https://www.vessel.com/videos/DkWN4qqW1 https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf You can gain bonus entries by sharing the link to both this giveaway and our Vessel referral link, http://vessel.com/linustech https://twitter.com/hitardo/status/580330962833260544 I am pointing at your rig PS: I had some issues with Vessel playback, stating that there was some internet connection issues, and I am on Auto on HD... Hope to see improvements in the future. Best of luck!
  7. Thank you guys! I learned a bit, and I will dig more into some things.
  8. It is due to efficiency. The HIFIMAN HE-6 have 83.5 DB of efficiency. It is not certain of the value of the BeyerDynamic DT990, but it is common to see the value 96 dB. If you have more input and information to give me, I will certainly appreciate it
  9. BeyerDynamic DT990 250ohm are the one I choose. Just because I prefer an open pair of headphones that are flat. Audio-Technica ATH-M50 are closed, thus getting uncomfortable over long periods of time wearing them, and there are too much bass.
  10. It is recommended that you test the headphones before taking the decision on buying an amp or not. But, as a reference, you can see the headphones impedance. For example, the majority of Sennheiser's HD 5-series (558, 598, etc...) have 32ohm of impedance. This value of impedance is relatively low, and makes them drivable for almost all devices: computer, laptop or smartphone. My BeyerDynamic DT990 250ohm need an amplifier. There are many versions of this DT990: 32, 250, 300 and 600ohm. Only the 32ohm does not require an amp. I use FiiO E06 on the go and a Topping NX1 on my laptop. Still choosing an DAC. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, you can buy and Amp + DAC, like the Fiio E10. Cheers!
  11. Great article! I am tired of explaining AMOLED is the same as OLED
  12. Hello, I need some advice on my current network. My ISP installed a Thomson TG784n router at my home. Frankly, this thing is slow it hurts. Entering its own GUI is a pain, and it take ages to change the wireless channel. I wanted to have a FTP server at home, so I put together the two things and bought a Xiaomi Mi Router. It is a AC1200 router with a built-in 1TB HDD, that runs a custom version of OpenWRT, which can run applications on it and it is very customizable. The firmware gets update, at least, one time per month. The only problem is that the GUI is in Chinese only, but Google Chrome helps me on translating everything automatically. My ISP uses VLAN tagging in order to prioritize the packets - to increase quality on IPTV and VoIP - and has a system behind the ONT that catches and memorizes the MAC address. It is a DHCP server, but the IP address only change on a couple of months basis. The MAC address issue can be worked around, since there is a link to unlock the current MA address, and the system will lock the new one automatically. But what about VLAN tagging?! My question is: Can I connect the Xiaomi Mi Router directly to the ONT, and then connect the Thomson to it through LAN? Or will I have problems with the VLAN tagging or IGMP snooping? This way I would not need the Thomson to access the internet, making things more direct.
  13. My current setup at my House A is: The Thomson router is only serving the STB and the VoIP, it has its Wireless radio turned off. The TP-Link N300 is serving the Wi-fi equipments. At my House B, I have: The TP-Link Archer D5 and the Mi Router mini are AC1200 and the TL-WR841N v9 is N300. At my house B I can only have ADSL service for now. I hope my ISP implmentes Fiber soon. My STB is a MINIX Neo X8-H running Android 4.4.2. On the next post I will post my 2 proposals to improve the network on my House A. For my House A I have these two proposals: Option A: Proposal B: Proposal A is the most likely to be implemented due to not needing a switch (with VLAN tagging), saving on the cost of buying one (~26€) and on the power consumption. The proposal A can be switch (Thomson being the first, before the Mi Router), due to the VLAN tagging of the ISP network. Currently waiting on the Xiaomi Mi Router, a AC1200 router with a built-in 1TB HDD. Very small and with a custom version of OpenWRT. It has, at least, monthly updates and can run apps.
  14. In one of my houses, with Fiber Optic, through Wi-fi on my laptop: Ping is a little bit higher, because I am using a bridged router for Wi-fi connectivity. My ISP uses VLAN tagging, making it difficult to connect the Wi-fi router directly to the ONT. Working on it...
  15. LG G2 for daily use, as it is reliable, good specifications and has a huge battery. OnePlus One for playing with ROMs, kernels, etc... And as a Portable Media device.
