    Wi-Fi issues

Hello there! One of my frined has bought an Acer laptop which worked fine for 3 months, until after a windows update he couldn't connect to the wifi anymore. The icon on the bottomleft says its connected, no weird issues there, in the control panel, network settings, states it is connected and the wireless connection has been established, everything looks fine. However if he tries to open firefox or skype, steam, etc. It displays the tipical "no internet connection" error. He hasn't fiddled with any of the network settings, he only reseted the router and plugged in a simple usb wifi adapter that he had laying around. Even with the adapter installed and fully working, he still has this issue. (everything seems fine but applications not getting any internet) He went ahead and disabled windows firewall just in case. He tried different networks. He even came over to my house to make sure. I got internet, he didn't. I can't imgaine what could possibly be the problem. I though you guys might be able to help.
  2. Thanks for addition effort <3 I will carry these suggestions in my heart to make sure I get the most out of my money!
  3. Looks great! Thank you for the suggestion I will definitely consider it! Although I still wondering, would there be an even smaller case? as I mention in the original post something like the coolermaster?
  4. Oh, Ireland, but I wrote it in the original post as well
  5. I wrote 800-900 euros It will rest on my main desk? if that is what you're asking, not sure. (I plan to take it around to lan parties occasionally and I live in a very small 1 room apartment which is really tight already.) I have a 1080p "monitor" I got a cheap win8 key of g2a and I have all of my peripherals from previous pc-s, so I am set in this department. Will mainly want to use it for gaming and entertainment machine that I will be able to carry with me room to room or house to house.
  6. Hello all! I would like to build my very own gaming PC for the first time in my life! BACKGROUND: I had about 4 PCs which I bought off of someone and upgraded it myself. This includes, a couple of video cards, processors, ram, HD and so on.(But never touched the power supply nor the motherboard.) I also repair laptops as a hobby, I had 2 in my life which I had to do a motherboard swap in one and a display swap in the other. OVER ALL I NEVER BUILD A PC FROM SCRATCH BUT I FIND MYSELF FIT FOR THE JOB AND I WANT TO ENTER THE GLORIOUS PC GAMING MASTER RACE WITH FLYING COLORS! The one problem I have is that I lack the knowledge to find a suitable motherboard for my future pc. WHAT I PLANNED TO ACQUIRE SO FAR: i5 6400 8gb HyperX fury ddr4 and a COOLER MASTER ELITE 130 case good?bad? give me your opinion! I am struggling on the power supply department as well. I was thinking about the Corsair 750W CS SERIES because it is modular and has an 80plus gold rating which will be more than enough for me (and maybe an overkill as well?). I have no idea what motherboard I should use because I feel that my knowledge is equal to tiny sand grain in a dessert in this area. (or insert any other horrible metaphor here) Only thing I do know is that its have to be mini itx because otherwise it won't fit. I have a couple of video cards laying around but I am open for any reasonable suggestions below 200 euros. tldr; I plan to get PC components in a couple of months so I'm in no rush. The build must be under a 800-900 euros altogether. Must be compact and the main focus will be the psu, cpu, and if it's worth getting ddr4 over ddr3. I know jack shit about motherboards so feel free to lecture me about some. I will use this pc for work, entertainment, entry level gaming.(although I do wish to play battlefront on it at some point.) I live in Ireland so might have to get the parts from eBay or other online stores.(I don't know if it will affect anything I'm just making sure) IF I'M COMPLETELY OFF IN THE WRONG DIRECTION AND ALL I DID IS WASTED 10 MINUTES OF YOUR LIFE BY READING THIS NONSENSE, PLEASE GIVE ME FEED BACK AS I AM CLEARLY LOST, TAKE MEHAND AND GUIDE ME THROUGH THE DARKNESS OF THE FILTHY CONSOLE GAMING PEASANTS AND INTO THE LIGHT OF THE PC GAMING MASTER RACE WHERE I WILL FIND PEACE AT LAST! Thank You!
  7. So basically I take out my laptop battery, which means taking the bottom of my laptop off and disconnecting it from the motherboard. I mean Ill do it no problem but it's a pain to do it each Friday and reconnect the battery each Sunday night. Will I suffer major battery life loss If I leave it plugged in all weekend? I have a Sony Vaio Fit 13a. So I will have to remove the rubber pads as well for the bottom and re apply it each time. Or may I just use my laptop till it's fully charged than take it off for a couple of hours and plug it back when it is around 70-60%?
  8. Hello all! I just got a laptop with a battery sealed inside the housing, since I am using it mostly all day during weekends, I more then likely will use the laptop plugged in. My question is this. If my laptop is plugged in all day, does it affect its batterys overall life? (I know to some extend it should, but windows 10 says when I reach a 100% with the battery that it is 'plugged in, not charging') I had an old laptop before this with removeable battery, when I was at it for a couple of hours I removed the battery and put it back in when I went to college on Mondays. I am asking this since I just want to take care of my battery as much as I can so it can last me years on end. Thank you for the answers/suggestions!
  9. I am looking for a laptop that is a 2in1 AND has a dedicated graphics card. Other than the new Surface book, I know no convertible laptop that has an nVidia or AMD gpu inside. My question is this. Is there any other laptop beside the one mention above that has the portability and 2in1 function for (example the xps12 or a sony vaio multiflip.) AND houses a dedicated gpu?
  10. Thank you for all the answers! I just recently cleaned my laptop inside out. Put a new dot of thermal paste on the cpu and removed the old one of course. Changed the fan ( by the way it's a 13 inch laptop with an i3 m380, Mobility Radeon 5000 series AND 1 TINY FAN TO COOL THEM. ) I have underclocked the cpu because that is the main heat source under it, but it has no effect on the idle temperature. However by the answers I got I better off buying a mat of some sort or a laptop cooler: Thanks for the help guys really appreciated it!
  11. Hello! I recently noticed that my HP Probook 4320s underside is really warm when I'm using it on my lap. However it isn't overheating, not even when gaming. (70-82 Celsius when under load and 40-45 when idle) The question that I have is how can I get rid of the heat under my laptop. Is there some kind of a tape or something where I can wrap it inside my laptop? Because it just ridiculous that I can't put a LAPtop on my LAP because after 30 seconds my tighs are cooked medium rare...

  13. Hello there! I am really looking into this machine since it got my atention that it has a desktop processor in a mobile platform. Now, I don't know anything about the laptop other then what was indicated on their site. ( http://www.originpc.com/gaming/laptops/eon15-x/ ) I'm thinking of buying one of these in the future but first I wanted to ask the community before I do something that I will/will not regret. Cheers :DD
