It was a defective pump. I ordered a replacement that I just installed and right away worked. BIOS CPU temps topping out at 35C.

Thanks! I’ve placed an order for a contact frame that should be delivered Tuesday. I’ll update then!

If you are not overclocking then don't buy an x470 board and h60. Use the stock cooler and get a b350

Usually you can see the cables in product pictures. 6 feet is the standard length, although no guarantees.

i havent bought a monitor that dosent come with either a VGA or DVI cable so far. with the GTX 1080 however you wont have a VGA port so if the monitor comes with one you will need another cable that you will have to buy youself. might say somewhere on the official site of the monitor what cable it comes with, or someone might show it in their review of it

Zero. My experience is identical to what it was when I was hardwired.

I had to buy a wireless card because the house I moved into couldn't be drilled into to run ethernet through the ceilings (landlord won't allow it), so I had to get a wifi adapter. I haven't noticed any difference at all since I had to make the switch after I moved.

Peripherals, looks and feels, are all personal preference. What one person likes for these uses, another might feel the opposite. Do you have any stores nearby that you’d be able to test the switches for yourself?

Cases are like peripherals, they’re personal opinion based on uses and functions of the user. I like the looks of the Meshify C better.

Peripherals are all opinion based. I like the looks of Cooler Master and Corsair keyboards. Personally when I tested out typing on red, blue, and brown switches, I liked brown switches the best.

Vek1313 reacted to Lurick in Need a cheap motherboard for Ryzen 2600
You'll have to either go with an X470 board or see if there is any shops nearby that could do the update for you. The update itself is pretty simple but you have to have a compatible CPU to start with. At one point AMD was offering kits where they would send you a cheap CPU to boot with so you could do the upgrade, not sure if they still do that or not.

On a side note, the only difference beside the base/boost clock on the 2600 and 2600X is the 2600X doesn't come with a cooler, they both can be overclocked if you choose to

I’ve seen GPU prices on a down trend (monitoring for when I buy parts for my first build) and they’ve been getting closer to MSRP. Last I saw 1060 6GB was $339.

Personally, I’d recommend saving up to also upgrade to a newer platform for CPU architecture as well. 1100 series cards from Nvidia are expected in July last I saw, which should have more normal GPU pricing. Also not too desperate to upgrade, I would say there’s no rush, so if you’re in a good spot to save a few more months and upgrade, that’s where I’d be on my personal opinion.

Vek1313 got a reaction from Cyberspirit in What cpu is the best????
The 2700x has made gains in the gaming department over it’s predecessor 1800x. That being said, in gaming, the 8700k is still the king. In overall use, workstation wise, the extra cores of the 2700x have been putting up better numbers than the 8700k. In single threaded performance, the 8700k is on top. They are all slight margins and both are very comparable chips. If you’re main focus is gaming and FPS, then I’d go 8700k. If gaming and FPS isn’t your top priority, maybe because of your monitor’s refresh rate, then I’d go 2700x. Either way both CPUs are great.

8700k is a better overclocker so if you think that is something you want to do by getting a higher tier cooler in the future then there is that as well.

Vek1313 reacted to TyMeador in You may be cool, but are you "using the earth for a heatsync" cool?
So my buddy built this gaming rig back in like 2010

i7 930 6GB DDR3 (TRI channel) 1TB hdd GeForce GTX 480 He has since upgrade it to have 24GB of DDR3, a 512Gb SSD and a Radeon R9 380. Now, neither of us are swimming in cash so instead of upgrading his current PC we devised a fun little experiment. The liquid cooling loop to end all liquid cooling loops. GEO THERMAL.

The plan was to dig a trench underneath his house about 3 feet deep and bury some PVC pipe. We ordered an inline-pump and put it under the house and ran the power cable up through the wall and into his computer running it off of the 12V rail of his pcs power supply. We decided to liquid cool the CPU, GPU, and North Bridge.

We didn't think to take any pictures of temps before the experiment, so I have no way of proving our gains. But I have personally seen his Northbridge regularly hit 100C on air.

    So we dug the trenches...

Ran the Pumps power cable up through the wall and into his PCs power supply. Then piped up the computer.

It's an early prototype with a custom built wall mounted "desk-puter". We drove the audio system with the amp you see on the left which also runs off the 12V rail of the PSU. The fans you see are only present so that the PSU has some gentle air flow. (The two fans to the right are intake, there are two more on the left for exhaust that are not pictured)

And check out these temps!!! Sub-ambient idle temps WITHOUT active cooling! (NOTE: The package temp sensor is inaccurate at this end of the temperature spectrum. 4c is likely incorrect)

    Full-GPU load temps (FurMark)

Overnight Full system load temps with the CPU overclocked to 3.8Ghz. (The base clock on the i7 930 is 2.8Ghz and it has a locked multiplier. So we did all of our overclocking on the FSB...)

I'd say that planet earth makes one hell of a heat-sync!

    What do you guys think?
