Hey everyone. I was wondering, if ram speed doesn't make an impact on performance, then why do people buy premium ram such as dominator platinum sticks? What is the benefit? Is it just because they look cool? I am ok with buying things for aesthetic purposes, I just don't get why there are so many different styles if performance doesn't seem to matter.

Yeah makes sense; Ill probably wait until the cards are cheaper and there is more support for SLI. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I have a GTX 1080 and I have been considering getting a second one to put in SLI. However I was wondering if there is really a noticeable difference after adding a second 1080. The card is already so good, so I am not sure if adding a second one is worth it, or if I am just wasting money. It also concerns me that a lot of games don't have SLI support yet for the 1080 since it is still very new. Any thoughts? FYI: I have an Asus Predator x34 monitor.

I am installing windows 8.1. It seems that AHCI Mode is enabled. I am still having trouble with this. I was able to use the drive as a normal hard drive on my computer, but then I removed my other ssds in order to install windows on this. Would having this formatted as a normal drive affect the windows install? I really appreciate all of your responses. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am hoping someone will be able to help! I Just purchased a 750 series PCEi ssd and I am trying to fresh install windows on it. However, when I select the drive and click next to install I get this error message: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computers hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disks controller is enabled in the computers BIOS menu." I have an ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard, which is the same one that Linus has and he was able to run this SSD in his system; so I know that my mobo supports it. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? Thank you very much!!

Hey everyone. So I recently purchased GTA V for the PC and it will not run on my computer. I have not tried the online mode, but the story mode lags so bad that it is unplayable. My computer is good enough that it should not be experiencing any problems; I even set the game's graphics settings to low and it is still lagging terribly. This is the only game I experience this on; my computer has been able to handle every other game on ultra graphics. I even reinstalled windows to see if it would help, but it didn't. Here are my computer's specs: GPU = R9295x2 MOBO = Asus rampage V extreme Proc = Intell core i7 5930k Haswell-6 core 3.5GHz Ram = 2800MHz 16gb corsair DDR4 1000w Corsair RM power supply. At first I thought that it might be because the ram speed is faster than my proc allows for. So I made sure to set the clock speed of the ram to 2133MHz, however this also did not help. Anyone have any idea of why only this game would be lagging for me? This has been super frustrating because the game looks really good. Thank you in advanced for your advice!!!

So I changed the overclocking setting from "auto" to "manual" and that seemed to do the trick; I can now boot into windows. I am going to update the bios also, because I noticed I am far behind on the current version. Hopefully that helps future stability. Thanks for your help everyone!

So I put an ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME motherboard into my computer and it has been a pain in the ass. Every other day I get a message that "overclocking failed" and I have to reset everything This is a problem because I have not been attempting to overclock. I keep it on the default settings, and now my computer will only boot to bios and I can't get windows to boot. Has anyone else had the same trouble with this motherboard, or know what I am doing wrong? Thank you!!!

I was hoping to see this card benchmarked against a 295x2. Also, how come linus never talks about or builds with the 295x2? He only has one video briefly talking about it.

So I dont have to do anything to the hard drive right now? After I install the parts and put the disk in, I will have the option to format then? Thanks for the responses btw!

Hey so I am about to install a new processor, motherboard and ram into my computer (basically getting a new computer) I was wondering how to prepare my hard drive before I install the computer parts so I can fresh install windows once everything is put together. The hard drive currently has windows on it. I am assuming I have to wipe it out, but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Thank you!!!

Ugh actually I think I am going to cancel the order. I am just going to get a different model other than dominator platinum. Other DDR4 corsair ram is going for half the price

Thank you everyone for the advice! I ended up getting 2800mhz for $400 no tax or shipping (it was an unused open box item) It kills me to spend $400 on ram but the 2666mhz was going for $350 + tax so pretty much the same price.

So I just purchased a motherboard that takes DDR4 ram and I was looking to buy 16gb of DDR4 dominator platinum, but I am not really sure what speed to get. Does the ram speed really make much of a difference in gaming? The board supports up to 3300mhz but the price of ram that speed is insane. So I just wanted to ask if the ram speed is worth the money, or should I just go for something around 2666mhz? Thanks!!
