  1. I've experienced this before, and so have a number of other people based on a Google search. A few comments in this Reddit thread explain how to try to prevent it from happening any more. I just tried it, so I'll see how it goes. I'm following more than 1000 accounts, and they're almost all car owners and car accounts, so it gets really difficult to keep track of accounts that I haven't followed manually. Fortunately, it's extremely rare that any of the random accounts' posts make it into my feed because of all of the other accounts I'm following lol.
  2. Usually the window is on the left side of the case. Otherwise, you can do whatever you want with it, it's your computer.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's the exact same monitor, but maybe with different cords if Canada uses different power outlets than the US. The -B shows up on the Canadian website, and the non-B on the US. https://www.lg.com/ca_en/desktop-monitors/lg-27GL850-B https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27GL850-gaming-monitor# I could be wrong, but I can't tell any differences. Someone more knowledgeable might know if there's a difference or not.
  4. It might be different in Canada, but here in the US (at least my part of the US), Christmas dinner is an excuse for another festive get-together. Family dinners are usually relaxed, people might have drinks or play games, and sometimes exchange gifts. Friendly dinners might also have drinks and games, and sometimes gift exchanges or secret Santas, and people might dress up with some Christmas attire. The food and treats will probably be more festive than usual. But it's otherwise pretty much just another party/hang-out with some sweet Christmas decorations and a comfy, cozy, festive mood. Everyone wishes each other a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, happy new year, and then continues with normal conversations. It's perfectly acceptable to let him know that you're not used to the norm, and so you should ask him a few questions. Not everyone does Christmas gatherings the same. You should ask him about what to wear, what you should bring (either food, gifts, games, etc), and generally what's going on; ask about anything you're unsure of. If he says you shouldn't worry about bringing anything, maybe bring a food/treat you really like or a nice bottle of wine. At least in the US, if someone invites you to their house for an event and tells you that you don't need to bring anything, it's just a nice gesture to bring a treat along as a sign of gratitude. And also, he's probably inviting you because he thinks you're cool. And what you see in the movies is spot on...Well except for the crazy squirrels in the Christmas trees, the crazy uncles who spend a month in your driveway, or the crazy neighbors who force you to put Frosty the Snowman on your house.
  5. I don't know anything about security, so in simple terms, could someone (other than OP who clearly just wants to trash Apple) explain what this means to me? I mean, reading through the Twitter post, it looks pretty much like all you can do is jailbreak any iOS version and it's irreversible. Someone stealing my phone in the first place is irreversible. Okay, I looked up some more information. As far as my understanding goes now, you need physical access to the device (Dan mentioned this), but then the device could then supposedly be accessed without the password? I suppose that's a loss of privacy if the police abuse their power or a thief gets his/her hands on your phone, but otherwise, all you have to do is keep your phone within your sight all the time...that's not hard. Most people do that anyway. It's obviously a security flaw, but it doesn't seem as catastrophic as some people are making it out to be. But again, I'm not a security pro.
  6. I took BC, and I had a few friends who used the Ti 83 just fine, but they were quite a bit slower when it came to putting functions into the calculator and reading graphs and tables. I used the Ti 84 Plus CE and it made things a breeze. Entering functions/integrations/derivatives was far easier than it would be on an 83. If you can, get your hands on an 84 Plus CE. You'll be fine without it, but it will make your life so much easier.
  7. Has anyone claimed that this would be an ideal year-rounder for a snowy environment? And that's a genuine question, because I looked through their page and the article and can't find anything about that. Why is that the one point that you're fixated on, what made you take a look at this and say, "winter," anyway? Especially considering the lack of storage space, the two-seat cockpit, and that it looks like a spaceship and not a car. Anyone thinking about purchasing something like this would definitely not, or at least should definitely not have winter in their mindset. I wouldn't purchase a Polaris Slingshot and then expect to drive to work in the winter, or even in the rain for that matter (but that's just because of a lack of roof). The Aptera would make either a fantastic summer car or a year-rounder in a warmer climate, but it should not be anywhere near the snow and I think the engineers and designers understand that. Similar to Tesla's origins, it's mostly just a technology showcase anyway. If it sold well and performed great then maybe they'll add another wheel in the future.
  8. If gas was any cheaper we wouldn't be able to fix our roads! Oh, wait, we're unable to anyway. We need to start smoking more weed to pay for these roads.
  9. I used to use free Spotify and then they started using broken ads that wouldn't load or play. I would have to completely restart Spotify if I wanted to keep listening to my music. So I switched to Apple Music (paid) and it's okay. I only use Spotify for Release Radar and Discover Weekly.
  10. Me. It's really disappointing that there's so much of a cult around Windows that the little kids disliking the video and making stupid comments can't even comprehend that Apple and Mac has benefits. Microsoft good Apple bad.
  11. I would enjoy a Towny server. I've always liked those, and I think it would be relatively easy to control since everyone has to have their own plot of land anyway.
  12. I don't understand how this works, but I don't know anything about biology or identification...especially through the heart...but what if I start working out and my heart starts beating differently? Or if I start eating so much fat and sugar and let myself go and it goes way up? Will that affect identification? I hope this starts a new trend of wearing winter coats absolutely everywhere and in every temperature.
  13. Well, they are. I love cars just as much as the next guy, but to deny that at least semi-autonomous cars is the future would be delusional. They'll solve traffic problems, have great accident avoidance, and will allow the *passenger* to do whatever he/she wishes while in the car. Especially to an average consumer, to have that much time freed up is nothing but a dream right now. We're in the testing phases right now, but I bet in 5 or 10 years the technology will really start to grow and will become mainstream. Then they can be integrated with roads, signals and other cars and then it'll be smooth sailing from there. The weather is certainly an issue, as is road condition. But I have no doubt that that problem can be solved. There are already stability control systems, so modifying those and turning them up to 11 could work. "These go to 11."
  14. I've heard the falling point twice now and I just don't understand it. I've had and used metal straws for 8 months now and not once have I been in the position where if I fell, it would be lodged in my mouth. I guess that happens if you walk around a lot while drinking, but how often is that? Even after using plastic straws for almost my whole life, I don't think I've once fallen and managed to keep the cup anywhere near my mouth. It tends to find its way to the floor on its own and its contents get everywhere. I think the only real alternative is to get rid of straws completely and just switch to the tops with holes to drink from, or use reusable bottles like you said. To me, it would be a smart idea to have people purchase a sturdy reusable bottle and then just offer free or cheap refills anywhere. Maybe a scannable code or card could be attached to the bottle and then could be used to enable the soda machines.
  15. Okay, well moving on... I don't know how far you can extend from just the paper straws, OP, but in the survey I provided a few ideas that might be acceptable alternatives to either plastic or paper straws.
  16. They're straws made of cardboard/harder paper as opposed to the plastic ones that they currently use. There are some benefits and some negatives. I recommend you do your own research on it so I don't influence your opinion with mine. Metal straws are superior to anything.
  17. I think it's unfair to say that. Apple charges the prices that people are willing to pay, and people pay them. They are running with the ideal business model. The phones aren't bad at all, and the iPad and Pencil are a breeze to draw with. I love Apple TV and the HomePod. If Apple wasn't around then Samsung would be charging just as much as Apple is now...somewhere around the $900-$1300 price range...
  18. Don't get me wrong, though: I still think that there's something somewhere in the universe that we would call an "alien". Even if it's not a lifeform like ours, I think it's unreasonable to think that we're the only "beings" in the universe. I just think that we've never met, and in this situation it's more than likely just a close encounter with something else that's been flying around our planet for a while.
  19. Why couldn't it be one of the thousands of other satellites and pieces of space debris flying around Earth?
  20. I can but I rarely rest my fingers on the ASDF JKL: keys. When I begin typing I seem to unconsciously move to the home row and then my hands just kind of flail around, but when I'm not typing my left hand is on WAD-Shift-Space and my other left hand is on the mouse.
  21. We would make a computer and then fist it and drop it.
  22. We'll make a sick tag team. I don't even know what that is, but it looks sweet.
