  1. A few dollars across thousands of TVs adds up. The guys who are tasked with researching the market and developing the TV are probably well aware of DisplayPort, but for one reason or another, it's just not justifiable or reasonable to them for them to add it. The only time I've seen a DisplayPort on a device or on a display is for a monitor and on my graphics card. All of my regular entertainment devices only have HDMI ports. If I upgraded my TV I would want to use the cords that I already have, which are all HDMI, and I don't think I'm alone in that regard.
  2. I think most people use HDMI cords or have them already, especially consumers of TVs. Ease of use impacts someone's impressions of a product a lot, even if it's not directly the product's fault. If I'm an average consumer with loads of HDMI cords and and I buy the TV and it has a DisplayPort, something which I as a typical consumer have probably never actually had to use, I'm going to be disappointed when I go to plug in my stuff and I have to buy a new cord to use it. It might even affect sales, albeit marginally. Then I'll be thinking, "well why in the world didn't the engineers put an HDMI port on this TV?"
  3. I hope that flip-phones in the future look a little bit slicker, or like something that belongs in the future. I think the flip-phone I had in middle school looked cooler than this (granted, mine was race car red.)
  4. My MSI GTX 970 lasted longer than my EVGA GTX 1080 lol. I've always heard good things about EVGA but man, that was a little bit of a disappointment. My MSI Z97 board is great too, although I've only had it for 5 years or so. I think I'll be buying at least one MSI product when I get a new computer, anyway, whether it be the motherboard or the graphics card (or that sick plush dragon if I can get one lol).
  5. Smash Brothers is a huge family party game and I had never even heard of these guys until these accusations came about. Most players and families won't hear about it at all. Unless each individual is proven to be involved in some wicked scandal, I don't think this will even affect competitive play. I think it's going to be a blip on the radar and nothing else will come of it.
  6. I'm interested in your thoughts on Mopars but I'm too afraid to ask so don't answer. Anyway, the Viper is a real killer. Even the new ones with all the fancy safety stuff is still pretty brutal to drive. I've driven a Scat Pack Charger and I can't imagine a Mustang is much harder to drive, so it just comes down to people who don't know how to drive the Mustang.
  7. Honda makes driveable lawn mowers and they also make power equipment to cut the grass.
  8. We're not as bad as Chicagoans, though. I passed on my first test too but I only passed because the warning system on my mom's 3-row Durango saved me from hitting one of the poles in the parallel parking test. I had no clue that it would stop me from hitting something in reverse until it saved me. By the way, @Chubby_Chubby, don't worry if you didn't pass the first time. It just means you'll be a much better driver the next time, and frankly, you'll be a much better driver than a lot of people who passed the first time. A lot of my friends passed the first time, too, but they're horrible drivers and they're always distracted by something.
  9. Does iOS 13.5 fix the stupid issue with Apple Carplay where Waze and Google Maps won't show up on the infotainment screen? The only reason I bought a phone mount for my car was so that I could see Google Maps on my screen. Apple is great but I would have to be paid to use Apple Maps on Carplay.
  10. Like others have mentioned, you should get diagnosed by a doctor first if you're actually worried about it. You're probably just dealing with a little bit of strain right now, unless it's something that occurs often, regularly, and has been getting gradually worse. I'm studying design and my hands and forearm can get a little bit tight after holding a pencil for 6 hours straight and it's very much like what you're describing. Usually it relaxes and the pain subsides after some forearm and hand stretches and a day or two of rest. One good stretch is to put your arm straight out in front of you with your finger tips pointed toward the ceiling, and with your other hand, softly pull the tips of your fingers back towards your arm. Rubbing the forearm and hand helps a lot too. But above all, just rest your hand for a day and a night.
  11. So what you're saying is that it's unlikely a kidnapper will be able to track individual kids and it's unlikely that individual criminals can be tracked by police?
  12. "As close as we can get to Minority Report" does not mean we're predetermining crimes. This is real life, dude, come on. We're not fortune tellers lol..."As close as we can get" means we can see it in real-time, and police can respond almost immediately. An immediate response time is the fastest time possible without using an inaccurate prediction system. I mentioned how tracking can be used for police. If a criminal can track a specific kid (out of how many hundreds?) that gets on a bus from school and heads home, what makes you think that police wouldn't be able to track a criminal? If little Jimmy was somehow taken from his home, you don't think that the police could record his abductee's every movement and turn from the second that Jimmy was abducted? If a criminal can track a little kid on the cameras, then a criminal's vehicle could be tracked even easier. Maybe response time wouldn't be immediate, but if a police department recorded their area on one of the 500 satellites, they could follow traces back and investigations would come to a conclusion far quicker. As long as someone knew where Jimmy was last spotted and when, it would not be hard to track what happened to him after that. Also, it seems like you're pushing the meaning of the FAQs. Event monitoring doesn't sound like stalking a kid to me, it sounds like watching a hurricane or a forest fire. Just in-line with what they want the service to be able to do. And if you don't want governments spying on you, then you should address the administrations that were working on that some 20 years ago or more. Anyway, there are only 500 satellites. Even if they implement more, that's only a handful per country. Maybe not even, considering it sounds like there are going to be satellites located above more remote areas and oceanic areas. Those cameras would have to be unbelievably high resolution to even be able to spot a person on a live camera, let alone track their every movement without suffering from serious detail loss. Google Maps might have a fraction of the satellites, but those satellites run all over the Earth constantly and use data that might be acquired years before it's stitched together with new data and implemented onto Google Maps. There is no way only 500 satellites can provide more detail than the Maps satellites while still being only seconds off of real-time.
  13. Well, if you want to go there, then why haven't you considered this?: Those same cameras could be used to watch a crime happen in live time. Police could be on the scene much quicker and would immediately know what's happening and who the perpetrator is. Little Jimmy might be abducted for five minutes before the police can rescue him. Missing children would no longer be missing because they could be found and tracked. The ability to see someone break into a house as soon as they enter would allow police to know exactly what they're dealing with. It would be about as close to Minority Report as we could get, as far as police response goes, anyway. Also, what makes you think that the resolution on these will be good enough to track individuals, anyway? They specifically mention "large whales" and "fishing boats," neither of which are small objects. And we don't even know how detailed that would be. As far as we know, the boat could be two pixels long. If you read the FAQ: Simultaneously, the “Spot View Imagers” can zoom in and see specific locations in more detail. For privacy protection, the resolution of the imagers will not be capable of monitoring an individual person. Look, I disagree with a mass-surveillance system, especially one that's accessible by anyone, but there is a lot of skepticism in this thread. Please tell me no one here actually thinks Bill Gates owns the coronavirus...
  14. Used? lol. The original comment said a set of nice disc brakes and new wheels. Yeah, I could buy used or yeah I could pick-and-pull. But then I might as well go to a dumpster or a computer wholesale place and buy these Apple wheels after they're two years old and used to roll a computer around in an office one time. You're comparing Apples (lol) and oranges, dude. If I want brand new wheels for my car, it will cost me $800 alone for a good set that's going to hold up. Tires are $150-210 each. A set of front/rear brakes will be $220 minimum. Anything cheaper and I might as well just stick with the brakes that I have.
  15. The Apple wheels are priced terribly, but come on. If you can get new wheels and a set of disc brakes for $700, you're not going to live long once you go for a drive with them installed.
  16. cakes This sentence is awful. "Rileyismyname is licking a big purple ice drink and exploded a nearby laundromat downward, then Dennis imploded the Dam of Hoover Jacob saw that big cop arrest minority woman with a rice cake made in 'Murica but it is actually lies and doesn't include rice cakes When can we start over?
  17. Your CPU cooler will fit, the P300 has a 160mm clearance and the EVO 212 is 159mm. It might be very close to the window but it seems like it will fit regardless. Also, those specs are according to the Phanteks and Cooler Master website, someone else said the Phanteks P300 can have up to 179mm of clearance.
  18. As long as there's not a ninja parrot yet, I'll try to learn how to make one.
  19. No, it boots up just fine when the graphics card is unplugged. The graphics card is toast for sure but everything else seems to be in good shape. I’ve got a GTX 970 spare so I’ll use that until I can get something else.
  20. RIP GPU lol. I haven’t smelled a smell this bad since the clutch burned on my mom’s car...visible white smoke came out of my graphics card.
  21. I just tested my power supply and it’s all good. Next test is the graphics card, I’ll have to see how it goes...I’m already preparing the gravestone.
  22. Hi everybody, bad news. We have a mystery on our hands. My computer just killed itself and I’m not sure in what way it did so. I was playing Planet Zoo and all of a sudden my graphics card fans shot to full speed. About half a second later, my computer shut off completely. I figured it was a power outage but it wasn’t, only my computer turned off. And now it won’t turn back on. I press the power switch and absolutely nothing moves. Here’s what I’ve tried already: turning on/off power supply switch, plugging the cable into different wall sockets, checking for burnt/disconnected cables, and waiting some time then retrying to turn on the computer. Nothing has worked. There was temporarily a slight smell that seemed to come from the graphics card, but it wasn’t very strong. I would say it smelled like burning plastic, but again it was quite a faint smell. I don’t smell anything from my PSU but I also don’t have a very good nose. Here are my specs: i5-4690k Corsair Vengeance 16GB MSI Gaming 5 Z97 EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (B-Stock rip) EVGA G2 750 Crucial SSD, Samsung SSD, WD Blue 1TB BIOS Version - unknown and obviously can’t check Windows 10 64bit I’ve had all of the components except the graphics card for about 5 years now. The graphics card will be 2 in July and I bought it B-Stock from EVGA so it’s no longer in warranty AFAIK. If you guys have any idea as to how I can fix this or figure out why my computer is misbehaving, that would be awesome. Thanks. To recap: computer silently dies, I don’t know why, graphics card had a slight smell.
  23. I won't tell you where I'm from, but I will tell you that commuting to Detroit everyday for school sucks. I am too cheap to get a closer place to stay.
