Can we get a Tech Fan Fiction forum added?
theninja35 replied to Dedayog's topic in Forum Suggestions
Jake and Linus' father-son relationship would get out of hand very quickly if there was a true "fan-fiction" forum. -
Posting kids photos on the web and the emergence of deepfakes
theninja35 replied to smadi's topic in General Discussion
I'm actually curious to hear why anyone would be okay with posting pictures of their children anywhere except to a private family group. What I'm interested in most though is watching how kids, parents, and schools adapt to and develop alongside technology like deepfakes because of how much of an impact that has on security. -
Need a FREE audio equalizer for Windows 10
theninja35 replied to Lord Szechenyi's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
I use the Peace interface with Equalizer APO and had to enable troubleshooting/experimental options through the Equalizer APO configurator before it worked for me. There were duplicate instances of my audio device and I had to install and enable it for all instances before it worked. I don't know how it works for Equalizer APO without Peace but have you tried enabling those options already? -
I agree with that, but there are a lot of people who were looking forward to something or have spent a long time either in the career or developing their skills to be in that career and are now forced to switch to something else. Regardless, I was just explaining why artists feel the way they do and why the generators are actually a concern to artists.
-
Most artists understand that AI-art generators are useful tools not just for the non-creative but also for them. It's an excellent tool for idea generation and aesthetic problem-solving. But there are real concerns that are easy to dismiss if you're not experiencing them first-hand. General artists are worried that their positions will be diminished further because art can be generated and refined quicker and cheaper than paying a human. Most people don't need "specific" art and really do not care whether a piece came from a human not. Most people can't even tell who made it. But like you've said, professionals won't want unspecific, non-functioning designs. Designers might be worried about this tool because ideation is the backbone of design and for many designers, the best part. It's all about creativity and coming up with interesting new ideas. Designers would obviously still be necessary for choosing and refining ideas but that work becomes tedious and uninteresting if the person generating or directing ideas isn't part of the team. I agree that generators will shift the role an artist has in art. That's the biggest issue that most professional artists have with them. There are other issues that you've addressed that also concern artists, but those issues aren't exclusive to artists or AI-art generators.

What differences would make something like a Define Compact worth the extra money over the H5 in your opinion? I've never used a Fractal case and don't really have a point of reference for comparison.

I've been looking online at Fractal cases but just built a computer with someone that used the H5 Flow in white. What a fantastic case. It's very well thought out, with cable management tie-downs, velcro straps, and metal tabs to tuck cables without tying them down. There are multiple mesh coverings that are either magnetic or sliders and they are gorgeous! I'm wondering if there's anything from Fractal that has comparable cable management features and visual appeal (clean with neat materials and cool patterns). I was interested in Fractal because they seemed to be more water-cooling friendly and quieter. What I'd like is something that looks and functions like the H5 Flow but will fit larger radiators and a reservoir. The H7 Flow is nice but it's not as clean with the full perforated metal panels instead of mesh screens and the perforated power supply shroud. Thanks in advance.

I understand that this forum is open to all types of people in most age groups but please make some kind of effort to read the room here. It's fine to debate the feasibility and sustainability aspects of EVs but to make absolutely no effort whatsoever to actually understand or even acknowledge opposing viewpoints is just outright embarrassing. I'm not targeting anyone in particular but there are a handful of people here who fall into that group. If you think that's you then that's probably you, and if you don't think that's you at all then that's definitely you. Let's talk about something cool like all the sick features on the Rivians or how I saw the new Kia Niro today.

I don't think electric motorcycles are the future of last-mile mobility but I don't see a problem with charging EVs overnight. Most people won't go through a full charge in a day, so longer nightly boosts shouldn't be a problem. In general it seems to me like the consumer benefits of EV just make them a far more reasonable choice than ICE from here on out.

Maybe we've moved on past the manual/automatic discussion but I'd just like to say that honestly, I had more fun in a ZF 8-speed than the manual Tremec I've driven. Both were Hemis. The ZF had a different shift feel and sound for every gear and throttle position, like it had personality. It could be either quiet or brash depending on how you drove it. My favorite was giving it a little bit of extra throttle and manually shifting around 3k RPM, because it was raspy and snappy and you could feel the power without using it. The manual is great but I really don't get any feedback from the car. If I'd describe something as lifeless it would be this, but maybe it's the way I drive it, or maybe it's how I'd define what "connected" means. The only time I've had fun was at full throttle or highway speeds, otherwise I'm just focused on getting up to speed.
