I own a Clevo P640RE 14 inch laptop and have had it for 3 years. It's configured with an i7 6700HQ and 970M graphics card. The gpu temps are fine and hover around 70 degrees celsius while gaming, though the cpu can go as high as 96 degrees on continuous 60-70% loads. This seems abnormally high to me considering the load and what the max temp the chip can take is. I've taken good care of it and made sure that there hasn't been any dust build in the vents/fans. I remember it being quite hot when I first received it, but was too lazy to address the problem. Would repasting the laptop reduce the temps drastically? I never really used it for gaming, but in the coming year I might find a lot of use for it as I'm moving out.

I recently got a 1080p 144 Hz monitor and honestly it feels great on games where I can actually hit that frame rate (Nvidia GTX 980 Ti). Everything is insanely smooth and there definitively is a perceivable difference between a 60 hz and 144 hz monitor. However when I play games such as The Witcher 3, when my PC is not capable of hitting 144 fps on the graphics settings I'm using, I would just like to cap the fps to 60. So in such games I'm assuming if there an option to do so, limiting the screen refresh rate for the game itself is the best option. But what if the only options are enabling/changing V-Sync or fps limit? So while limiting the fps to 60, should I turn V-sync off or on? Will limiting the fps to 60, while running a 144 hz monitor cause stuttering or tearing? Essentially I'm asking: using a 144hz monitor, what display settings are best to use in games where I cannot reach 144 fps (smoothest experience without screen tearing)? Thank you.

Hi! I have two windows machines that are using the same Microsoft account, and I would like them to use different networks. As of right now, once I connect one computer to a network, the other machine is also able to connect automatically as well, without me typing in the login details. They synchronize by being on the same account (I think). This results in both my machines automatically staying on the same wi-fi network. How can I make sure that they don't automatically switch to using the same network and that I need to type the password individually on each machine in order for them to connect to one specific network? Hello, I have just started up my PC and I have encountered a problem that I have never had before. Suddenly a message popped up after restart and stated something like "Wmpremotestandalaone.exe" does not work properly or something like that. When I clicked on more information, it redirected me to a microsoft page regarding .NET framework. However, it seems as if F-Secure is removing that file every time I start up my computer. It has marked the file as a Trojan and my PC automatically restarts due to F-Secure requiring a restart to delete the file. However, F-Secure seems to delete it every time the computer boots up, so I'm essentially stuck in a restart loop if I don't disable F-Secure. I have no idea whats going on and I'm very careful when downloading files from the internet. I haven't downloaded anything really the past days other than a CCleaner update and some steam games. The link F-secure redirects me to is this - https://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/trojan_w32_generic.shtml#collapse_fp Edit - When I click for the reason the file was removed, it states that it is ina folder called musixmatch which is a program I have installed from the microsoft store. I'm kind of confused right now. SOLVED: Wmpremotestandalone.exe is a part of the program musixmatch. As of right now, F-Secure has flagged it as malware. I solved the issue by making F-Secure ignore the file.

I'll go to my local electronics shop and look at the mice they have on display and try them for myself. I guess that's where I will find my answer in terms of ergonomics.

I actually vary between both of them. My deathadder 2013 is a bit small for my hands to wholly use a palm grip. Im kind of using some hybrid grip though leaning more towards claw.

Yes, thats the mouse acceleration I was wondering about. Is this a problem with laser mice that has to be adressed, or is it just simply caused by the way the sensor works?

Which type is better? I have a Razer deathadder 2013 right now, though I am considering to get a new one, probably the chroma version or the mamba tournament edition. However, there is one big difference between the two. One sports an optical sensor while the other one has a laser. I have read that laser mice have more dpi, in this case the mamba can go to 16 000, but I tend to use my deathadder on 800 :/. The cursor moves way to fast after around 3500. They also track better, but in some posts I read that optical mice have seen large improvements that solved tracking issues on different surfaces and based on my own experience, my deathadder works nicely on a plethora of mouse pads and tables. One thing I read about laser mice was in built acceleration. Is that still a problem to this date? Thanks.

Hi, I have looked into the task manager and I often see windows host process running and it is also in my startup tab. I did a quick google search and I read that it could be some type of malware, but the file is running from Windows-system32 or something like that, so it looks legitimate. It doesn't use any cpu power or ram so Im guessing its fine. However, I dont have this process enabled on startup on my stationary, and I dont see the process there either. Should I disable the process upon startup or just keep it as it is? Thanks.

Yes, I just read the manual and it stated if you open up the computer, it would void your warranty. Ok, I guess I'll repaste it when the warranty runs out.

Ok. Thats good to know. But one question. Is it worth to repaste the laptop? I have seen videos and repasting the laptops can lower temperatures significantly.

Yeah, I'm only familiar with desktops, and my laptop's max temp was over my desktop by a mile. But I guess it's not comparable as all the components are stuffed inside a much smaller housing.

Hi, I was wondering if my cpu temperatures for a laptop would be ok. 40-45 idle 50 during everyday use around 80 when gaming 94 when stressing the cpu at 100% Temperatures in celcius. Laptop - Clevo P640RE. 6700HQ and 970M My gpu is considerably cooler than the cpu in games, around 5-10 degrees. Thanks.

Hi, I get this problem with my laptop that I recently purchased. I have read a bit about the issue, and I have concluded that it is most likely due to the graphics drivers. I always update to the latest drivers using NVIDIA control panel. However, should I not use nvidia experience and stick with the manufacturers nvidia drivers? Maybe the newest drivers arent compatible with my machine? Clevo P640RE 970M i7 6700HQ 32 Gigs of RAM

Thanks for the reply. I reinstalled drivers and everything works perfectly now. However, the spdif port still lights up, regardless if the headphones are in or not. Is this normal?

Yes the other hack is for headphones. Its labelled on the side. I do have the correct drivers installed and they are from realtek. Will reinstalling maybe help?

I actually got audio from that port to my headphones, but plugging my headphones into the headphone port gives me no audio
