  1. probably an issue with the way passmark tests the gpu... What games have you tried? Did you ever go back and try on windows 10 again?
  2. what are the clock speeds on that 1080 at when you run passmark??
  3. I just want the thing to last me as long as my current one has, if not longer. I am probably going to be schooling on this thing for a while and it is going to be my daily driver/main computer when im not home. I could be in a skype call with friends while working on homework occasionally checking social media and viewing funny videos/pics they send me every now and then and malware-bytes runs a background check without my permission (all very normal occurrences) . If i do get bored enough to play games they will probably be in browser 2D games so no heavy graphics horsepower is necessary.
  4. I need to find a great value laptop for work only. a powerful GPU is absolutely unnecessary. I am upgrading my core 2 duo laptop of 8 years as it is still running trusty old windows vista and is running with 4 gb of ram. It has A LOT of problems. I really want something new. Here are some specs im looking for i5 or i7 (no i3) ssd+hdd or just ssd (no hdd only) resolution does not really matter as stated above dedicated graphics are unnecessary atleast 8gb of ram Must be brand new i will not go near anything used or refurbed cant go above 800$ not even for shipping (no 801$) if what im looking for in this price range doesnt exist than just say so. thanks in advance for your help. EDIT: No AMD point blank period please and thank you.
  5. We really need 1 more person please anybody. TheOriginalTaco Steam... please hmu if interested. if not tonight im usually looking for people to get on h1z1 so ya...
  6. manually setting my GPU fan to 0rpm without turning the fan curve on then opening up farcry 4. luckily the fans turned themselves on to 100% after hitting 94°C scaring me so bad i fell back in my chair and took my bookshelf down with me.
  7. I have a old cisco wireless g router (2007) in my living room being the piece of crap it is. I need one like today or tomorrow and was wondering what is the best deal for my money. I have 85 bucks to spend. There is 7 people in this household and we are currently taking turns using the wifi. Please help me out with suggestions, i might be able to squeeze 90 or 95$ thanks in advance. and no its not the isp. We are supposed to be getting 65 mbps it better not be them...
  8. The keyboard is my favorite of the peripherals. not a big fan of rgb lighting anyway, so I can appreciate the stealthy black approach. I love mx brown switches and if the build quality is as foretold then I wouldnt it any other way. What else can I say? This keyboard seems to offer all of what I need and none of what I dont.
  9. Is there any specific situation that one would normally run into where the i7 wouldn't benefit from hyperthreading and it would come down to clock speeds and IPC?
  10. i5 vs i7 is there any situation that a normal person in normal use of a computer would see an i5 perform better than a i7. someone told me that an i5 4690k is better than a 3770k for "core restricted tasks" and "can handle more IPC". I game on my computer, I enjoy overclocking and bench marking, I also do some light video editing. will the IPC or core restricted tasks ever affect me and my 3770k vs an i5? what are some core restricted tasks and how many more IPC can the 4690k handle over a 3770k? is it just not that simple? if so please explain. is any of this info correct? does a i5 beat an i7 at all? thankyou all in advance
  11. hey guys is this a good OC http://img.techpowerup.org/150522/nvidia_20150522_011822.png
  12. not sure i follow you. this does not matter for my gpu because it uses a entirely different instruction set?
  13. I think its kinda funny how i noticed this but i was playing minecraft (lol) and i pressed F3 on the right it said GTX 970 PCIe SSE2 and i was curious what SSE2 was (love learning new things) so i googled it. i was very unhappy with what my search turned up "SSE2, Streaming SIMD Extensions 2, is one of the Intel SIMD (Single Instruction, Multiple Data) processor supplementary instruction sets first introduced by Intel with the initial version of the Pentium 4 in 2001. It extends the earlier SSE instruction set, and is intended to fully replace MMX. Intel extended SSE2 to create SSE3 in 2004. SSE2 added 144 new instructions to SSE, which has 70 instructions. Competing chip-maker AMD added support for SSE2 with the introduction of their Opteron and Athlon 64 ranges ofAMD64 64-bit CPUs in 2003." what the hell? pentium 4 is ancient!! I am so confused what is sse3? an extension of sse2? sse3 has 13 more instructions than sse2. what does that even mean? instructions? what does this have to do with my graphics card? Somebody please explain... (i assumed it had something to do with my gpu because it sad GTX 970 PCIe SSE2)
