djorkaef reacted to LAwLz in Scrapyard Wars Season 3 - With Scrappy Guest Austin Evans!
I am not sure if I missed something but this is how I think it looks right now.
Not sure if there are spoilers for those of you who do not watch on Vessel, so open at your own risk:

So this SYW is about performance per dollar.
Dollar is clearly expressed in a number, but performance?
Will you just add up all the benchmark results and that will count as the 'performance'?
Is this something that is measurable/comparable to dollars?
Does it makes sence to do a summation of different benchmarks? How are they weighted?
I am not an expert on this, are these test just based on average fps in fixed settings?
If a 100 dollar system gets an average 10 fps, that would be just as good as a 500 dollar system gettings 50 fps right?

Part a (15min): buying old computers (performance not required)
Part b (15min): buying a piece of sheet metal
Part c (15min): trying to bend a cupper pipe
Part d (15min): showing a cutting tool and a cnc machine
I thought scrapyard wars was about getting closer to the subscribers and showing non-commercial stuff they can do themselves.
That is not buying worthless computers and tuning them with CNC produced parts...

I think the point is to do the exact opposite of that. Stuff you should never do.

You are building oil-submerged systems, storage arrays with 36 ssd's, you are messing with sockets and cooling of dual 18 core xeons, you are building a whole room water cooling in an office you will leave...
But when you make a video about something we can actually use or do ourselves, you put it on a paid channel because creating a scrapyard wars about 300 USD computers is too expensive??
