slasher0161 got a reaction from LegacyStijncat in If you could Mod a PC, what theme / game would it be?
A doctor who themed build and make a tardis. I can't think of a case that would be good to do it in though due to the sheer amount of modding required a scratch build would probably be better. Main reason being is an old friend is an absolute doctor who nut and would geek out over it something shocking which would be nice to see (since they have been at uni they have just been several different shades of stressed).

For myself though i've always wanted to do a build using an old car as the shell, decking the inside out, replacing the windscreen with a bunch of lcd (or even OLED if viable money wise) panels. Have a small auxillary display in the dash with touch screen interfacing, have the steering wheel rigged up as a controller with the peddles and gear stick. Fit an AC in the boot, replace the engine bay with the actual system hardware, nice comfortable seats, sound system inside...
The main reason this build hasn't come into play yet is two fold, firstly cost and secondly the only place I have to store such a rig is a mates place 70km away (and we would inevitably get carried away with the accessories of the build bringing the cost up to something I don't think I could sneak past the girlfriend).

All these nice cars meanwhile my daily driver is a Holden barina spark, 1198cm^3 of angry 4 banger. Having said that I have had it at just north of 210km/h, I also own a Peugeot 306 cabriolet that is in need of some serious love considering it chews more fuel than the Ford xf Ute i have and the xg blows it out of the water.
then there is the mazda bravo and the Suzuki grand vitara. Then 2 motorbikes, I may have too many vehicles.

I wish some people had a little bit more insight and experience before posting,  this mindset of entitlement that is coming through is very dangerous and will only land you on your arse in the street, Mark my words.

All the older people around you today who own their homes, manage companies or are on the board of directors etc etc, are there because they worked their arse off and sometimes without pay to see that the company survived and to ensure they had a job the next day,  that kind of work ethic takes you places. the only place demanding your right to pay without concern for the bigger picture takes you is unemployed and with no company to employ others.

It is not black and white, companies can't just keep selling stuff to survive, They can sell some stuff and trim down, but if they sell too much they will become insolvent.

Much the same as you can drive a high performance car like a little old lady and casually cruise, you don't have to overclock. However the way I see it, why have unused potential sitting there if you aren't going to use it.

slasher0161 got a reaction from Vitalius in Only those that have paid a certain ammount in tax should be allowed to vote. Thoughts?
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena.
On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of,
every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.
Thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines,
every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every hero and coward,
every creator and destroyer of civilization,
every saint and sinner in the history of our species,
think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that,
in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.
    Our posturings, our imagined self-importance,
the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe,
are challenged by this point of pale light,
and underscores our responsibility and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot.
These might be song lyrics but it is certainly a very interesting thought.
The problem with educating everyone is the physical impossibility of it. Much as earlier it was argued for the voice of the less fortunate, the ability for each and every human to utilise their brain to an equal extent is not a possible reality. Then there is the argument
In doing so you are trying to create a utopia which is also unsustainable, the solution is the same as the square root of -1, we can give it a symbolic meaning, we can manipulate it and even use it for other complex ideas it doesn't change the fact it is an imaginary unit.

A 10 page mission later I am finally up to date on this. I first want to start by saying that my opinions here may be highly unpopular so you have been warned.
Now I just want to clear the air on the whole point of discrimination, it is already happening in society and Australia has actually legislated it to an extent with their "Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander only jobs" (No word of a lie that is actually a thing). We currently have a primier in Queensland who has passed legislation that if you ride a motor bike (especially a harley davidson) you are guilty until your innocence is proven. Since Primier Newman went on his bikie rampage you no longer have the right to remain silent and can be charged with obstruction of justice by doing so. Dont even get me started on the health system and what is currently going on with that.
I honestly believe if you think that this proposal would descriminate anything more then some of the bullshit that already passes through governments to fill private agendas you are ignorant.
The whole democratic system is broken at a fundamental level on the scale the world has grown to now, it is easily susceptable to corruption and private agenda's not to mention the people you vote for (here in Australia at least) are mere figure heads however that is a topic for a different discussion.
The idea of right to vote being determined by wether you are or were an actively contributing member of society has been deemed wrong so we will scratch that.
Allowing the uneducated masses to vote clearly doesn't work (QLD, Australia) so we can scratch that.
Basing it as a scaling amount isn't fair because 10% of a low income earners wage is more detrimental to their life than 10% of a high income earners wage... (I personally say this is bullshit, from a pure mathematical stand point based on minimum cost of living ect. I whole heartedly agree, however you will find that most high income earners are up to their eyeballs in debt and it is only when we start talking about your beyond comprehensible amounts of wealth people that stands true, however then again they pay people a "high income" to find every last white tax loop hole they can, before moving onto the grey and let me assure you some of those shades of grey are pretty damn close to black you could be forgiven for making the mistake)
So that leaves us a few options still on the table, find a new system that is 'fair' and makes everyone happy whereby everyone is equal and happy days and sunshine...
Watch the world burn for a while longer and when a global scale war errupts again watch how well people can get along once there is a billion or two less people on this planet and the global economy is reset.
The third option is to accept that any system is going to be broken in some regard and someone will get boned out of it, just look after your own interests through whatever means necessary, if you choose to do this by getting a mass of people with similar ideas to give your vested interests a fighting chance in the broken system or completely reject society and go hermit or any balance there of doesn't matter.

If your aren't going to touch overclocking then top of the line is duel xeon e5-2697 v2 (http://ark.intel.com/products/75283/) psu you will want a 1500w unit though i am still not sure 4way sli is a good idea, it is extremely unsupported with drivers and the amount of gpu heat at full noise would be crazy. For a professional setting my advice on board is the z9pe-d8 ws by asus (http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z9PED8_WS/).What are rig are you currently using though, waiting for haswell-e and ddr4 might be worth it for a professional setting.

I do love that people around here destroy cars left right and centre never a shortage of parts for projects (most usually either get dumped or dropped off for recycling fetching around about 8c/kg because people lack the vision to repurpose them.

If you are already fucked might as well give it a shot and at the end of the day it wouldn't be your call to make at least for these trials as you have to be fairly well foot in the grave before they can administer it.Consider though the interesting possibilities that can come from this, certainly a lot less blood wasted (seen one patient chew over 11L of blood before dying anyway).
