  1. Oh what the fuck, it is a Pitcairn GPU, 28nm. It is significantly OC'ed out of the box though, 1120mhz Base clock and 1400mhz Memory clock.
  2. Thank you! Same reason I bought a CPU cooler for my locked CPU, quiet cooling. Although, there are no full cover waterblocks for the damned R9 270X.... ..... Can't run crossfire on an mITX board haha. Also the 270X chip I believe is a Tahiti LE, meaning basically a 7930.
  3. But then if I overclocked the R9, it'd still be better. Oh the Sapphire's cooler on my old 7870 is much better than the cooler on the Asus. I fucking hate this DCUII Design, it's awful and loud. It says 20% quieter on the box, I only imagine they mean 20% quieter than a Boeing 747.
  4. Nice! I could, but why? It was like a $10 price difference for a 10%-15% slower card.
  5. Many thanks! Shine II indeed! Its so lovely to use, Cherry MX Browns
  6. F/2.0 lens. Not availabe in NZ until late Novemeber, plus I love the look of the Prodigy!
  7. Oh its ridiculous how little space there is for cables. <3 Its a lovely card. Why thank you! Its my testing mouse, the DeathAdder 2012 I have sometimes doesn't like to play nice with UEFI.
  8. Well, I just sold this build..... Haha. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/65066-mitx-prodigy-i5-4570-and-an-r9-270x-first-r7r9-build-on-ltt/ Check out my new one!
  9. So I built a computer back in December 2012, and my goal with that PC was silence. I wanted it as quiet as possible, and spent a lot of money doing so over a long period of time. Heres the Build Log and photos in an Imgur Album One of my friends actually offered to buy my build 2 days ago, and for not much less than I payed for it, so I decided to take him up on the offer and build a new system, one which suited me better and in my favourite case, the Prodigy. I kept my 2 SSD's and sold him the rest of my build. I still need to fix up the cable management, but I can't be bothered at the moment. Prices don't reflect what I payed for, I spent around $1300NZD on new parts. I also got the NH-U12s on a locked processor because I do not like the stock coolers one bit, and the U12s is a fantastic cooler. Here are some photos, the rest of the album is here RAM Choice: Single channel because of price at time of buying, am aiming to get another 8GB DIMM in the near future, a dual RAM kit was around $30 more. CPU Choice: I went with what suited me. My old rig had a 3570k that I didn't even overclock, because I wanted to future proof at the time. I went with a more suitable 4570 and an H87 mobo. Case Choice: My reasoning behind mITX is because I fell into BAPC trap of "Get ATX its future proof", and bought beyond what I needed. Don't need a 2nd GPU because I'm fine with basically a 7870. Don't need a soundcard as I have a Fiio E10. Disclaimer this case, while looking nice, is a fucking awful building experience. Beyond ridiculous. Cooler choice: I went with Noctua for CPU Cooling because I had a good experience with them on my last build, its a nice quality heatsink that doesn't break the budget and is really quiet. I'm well aware its on a locked processor, but the stock heatsink is a joke, it barely keeps the chip cool and it's loud as all buggery. GPU Choice: Just as I was about to buy a 7870, my local retailer listed the R9 270x on their website, put in a pre-order and shipped 2 days before official release. Not bad. Also the same price as the 7870, so no loss there. Future plans include, Adding a Window Adding an NZXT Hue Possibly more SSD's Watercooling in March next year, Full loop.
  10. I never really cared about temps when I was building this. Silence was the objective. CPU was around 30-35c idle and 50c-ish while gaming. GPU 20-25c while idle, 60c while gaming. They are really nice! I do love the colouring. Cheers Noctua's are great. 7870 and 3570k is pretty midrange! Like a high low-end build. As do I, they're great. Cheers The noise foam, really makes a difference, it's really good. Noctua stuff is also insanely quiet. Haha it was a risk! But it payed off, cheers Where'd y'all come from anyway? Was I featured in Build Logs or something?
  11. Neither? It isn't "PC" either. Oh so as long as he's having fun, its ok to insult people?
  12. Oh so because people agree with you, its ok? I care because everyone here is jumping to defend Linus, when in fact, he was in the wrong.
  13. Just because Linus isn't homophobic, doesn't mean it wasnt insulting.
  14. Oh so it's ok then? As long as I don't go to the south? Ridiculous. I lucky live in New Zealand, where homophobia is frowned upon. Soft? Are you kidding? You're a disgrace.
  15. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. I'm gay, and I was extremely offended by, a) Linus sprouting "Homo" like it it was not offensive to gay people at all. B) All the immature people justifying him doing so, and saying "I've got a gay friend, its cool". "Homo" is a highly offensive word to someone who is actually gay. Because it is used in a malicious way to bully gay people. Even if it is not used in a malicious way, it still hurts.
  16. Well if you read the build-log, I've already bought a new PSU, its a Corsair AX750w that I scored for $100NZD. Absolute bargain, and the fan doesn't even ramp up until 30-40% load. Gelid, Cougar and Enermax I've tried and didnt like, they were too loud. Corsair fans are a complete joke, they push fuck-all air and are very loud. Noctua are expensive for a reason, they're the best.
  17. Thanks! Yeah, I built it in December last year, now it's nigh impossible to get my hands on a Z77 Board in New Zealand -.- Thanks See above! I'm thinking of downsizing to mATX or mITX, but it'll likely be in March next year, so I might do a complete rebuild!
  18. Thanks! I see your an R4 and Noctua enthusiast as well. Good taste! Cheers ;D I plan on taking some more tonight in my studio, these were just update pics. Fun fact, the camera used was a Fuji X100
  19. So I've added a Corsair 750W PSU, Overkill I know, but I got it for $100NZD, so it was an absolute steal! I'm finally finished! This computer is incredibly quiet, I can literally have it on overnight in my bedroom. It is so quiet, you only know its on by the LED's. During gaming it's practically inaudible, the loudest component when gaming is the GPU. Honestly I'm so pleased with how this came out.
  20. Silly review honestly, the R4 stock fans are beyond awful. At 12v they are unbearably loud. At 3v and 5v they are indeed audible and push so little air, they may as well not be on. EDIT: You claim to be a silence freak, and claim the Fractal R2 fans are silent? You must be quiet deaf. Here is what a properly optimised silent gaming rig looks like, short of going passive, this is as quiet as it gets. I only rarely get electrical noise from the PSU. Link for my build.
  21. If they didn't Laptops, Desktops and Mobile Phones would be light-years behind. Heck, "Smart-Phones" today would basically be BlackBerry's. Apple exist for a reason, and are the 2nd most valuable technology company for a reason. Don't be another Apple-Hating nerd because its "cool".
  22. I bought an HTC One after going by Linus's recommendation, and I used to own a 4S. Its about 4 weeks old and I'm shit scared of dropping it. I treated my 4S liked shit and it lasted for over 18 months.
  23. Razer Nostromo. I used it 3-4 times and never used it again, sold it for half the cost to some other chump. Stupid purchase that added nothing to my gaming. I love Razer products, but this was just such a let down. Enjoy my $100 Razer.
  24. Then why do websites measure the decibel level of each cooler? The H100i is loud. Stupidly so. I went through 3 of them before I gave up and bought a Noctua NH-U12s for half the cost and same performance. At work we get more than 10-20 RMA's of the H100i each week. It's insane.
  25. Problems with the H100i are very common. RMA it and hope you get one of the "good" units.
