I have been looking around for an new case as a mod took a turn for the worse when removing the 5.25 inch bays from my silent base 800. I still maybe able to work with it but I'm not sure I have seen the define XL R2 but it seems too plane and would be my last resort. Dream case would be Corsair Obsidian 900D, I have had no luck in finding one In the UK tho If anyone has any recommendations on a case that support the SSI EEB form Factor, rack mount or Tower, available in the UK and around £150 would be a massive help Thanks P.s I know the 900d would be way more then £150 but I would be willing to pay a premium for that case lol

Best Wifi solution for house with chicken wire in the walls
TheDev replied to SquarishBongo's topic in Networking
if you can get Ethernet to a few rooms, getting some ubiquiti unifi APs would seem like a good idea.- 11 replies

also most render engines you can select which GPU you want it to use In Blender you can select which GPU(s) you want to render off, so you could have your Vega rendering wist having all your monitors plug in to your 1080it with out getting a perf hit at all on the 1080 ti

rendering engines don't use SLI or crossfire they just use whats available to them. you could have a titan Xp with a 680 with 2 RX 580 and the render engine would (try) use all of them at once

With out them installed I have no display at all with the gpu in if I use the drivers that come with Ubuntu then only on board graphics work but for the on board graphics to work I have to remove my dgpu
-
Can I install them with out the card in?
-
That's how I installed them, it was the only way cos it wouldn't show the screen if I had the gpu in so I had to take it out and use on board graphics, and yeah I have tried other distros but none have come up trumps
-
I tried that before, and it still is happening. Don't think I have ever had this much trouble with Ubuntu before
-
So I have been using Ubuntu on and off for a while now but with the recent upgrade to dual Xeons I have now decided to use Ubuntu as my main OS, but I have had problems from the start. It would install but only boot into the shell. Reformatted the drive and installed again but this time it would show 1 line of text saying something missing. (Can't remember what was missing) And a few other things but now I'm here with this: Spec Duel xeon E5 2670 Supermicro x9drl-if mobo Gtx 980 Nvidia 367 drivers (there old but was desperately trying to get this to run) 16gb ram If anyone can help get this running it would be a great help Thanks, TheDev

(Win10) start, calendar and notification not opening
TheDev replied to TheDev's topic in Troubleshooting
i don't think so, start, calendar and notification aren't apart of explorer.exe there a separate thing i think (but talking about explorer.exe, full screening chrome or youtube vids doesn't minimize the taskbar. that can get annoying sometimes) -

Thermoelectric Cooling...Done Completely Differently
TheDev replied to TheDev's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
yes, yes it is but f*** it lol no not at all 1k for cooling is far too much, but to hardline my pc has been something i have wanted to do for a while and i already have 2 hype 212 evo's cooling my cpus and there doing just fine, just that hardline look...so so good yeah basically a hot and cold loop. condensation shouldn't be a big problem, the TEC unit will be placed where the hard drive caddy would be allowing it to drip off just on the the metal of the case, and to be honest im not looking to go below 10 decrease so condensation shouldn't be a problem hopefully...probably will be tho holy sh**, this is a lot of work!!! i have tried a TEC cooler before and yes it was sh** but water in a loop doesn't get that warm so i have heard so say a '30 degree load' on the cold side of the TEC shouldn't be to much to cool down and the fact im using 4 might work and to be honest if this whole thing doesn't work out...i have made a really expensive water cooler for drinks in the summer (tho UK summer is not real a summer) -
So, i have never really liked liquid cooling my pc and it not because im worried about water going everywhere, I have always liked the look of having a big metal cooler in my pc's but 2 things that would get me to water cool is if 1. it's hardline, and or 2. it cools below room temperature And this is my idea to place 4, 60w pentile thermoelectric coolers (TEC for short) each inbetween 2 cpu water blocks, essentially creating a 4 stage TEC cooling loop. The heat of the 4 TECs goes in to a 480mm rad on a separate loop. Now the pc loop will be obviously be connected to the pc components and the 4 TECs but also to a 360mm rad, and this is to allow the PC to be cooled whilst the TEC are cooling down when powering on the system without the risk of overheating the pc components. Now just wondering if anyone can see any immediate problem with this idea, as i really want to do this but with this going to cost upwards of £1000, and don't really want to wast my money. l'll update the post with illustrations tomorrow if i didn't explain probably .

does the computer even POST (beep) after a few second after turning it on
-
haha lol, i do it all the time, have you tried different cables, monitors?
-
i mean have you plug the monitor cable into the mobo, because it need pluging in to the GPU
-
you haven't plug the cable to the mobo have you, i do it all the time on new builds lol
