Cases that Fit EKWB Predetor 360 on TOP
shibbs replied to imkinger's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
It'll fit in the top of my Define R5, once I remove the 5.25" drive bays. (Who the heck uses those anymore?!) -
Put the fan on the outside of the case in a pull configuration. Works great. Then you can put on a super fancy fan and really show it off. Think of a LTT Limited Edition Noctua on the outside of the case! @LinusTech would be proud!

Are 6-pin to 8-pin adapters safe for GPUs?
shibbs replied to Constipated Crow's topic in Graphics Cards
Just tried a GTX 770 over the weekend with 2 8-pin connectors. Old PSU didn't have provisions for 8-pin, so just stuck the 6 pin connectors in it. Is working great and has been for the last few days.- 28 replies

[HELP!] Quieting down my Fractal Design Define R4
shibbs replied to winningsince1337's topic in Cooling
That's pretty much the same setup I have on my R5. Works great, and is dead quiet. I have Noctua fans, though, as the Fractal quiet fans don't flow for sh*t. That being said, I don't run them full throttle, but ramp them up with CPU temperature. -
Who is getting a Noctua LTT Edition?
shibbs replied to TheAmazingCookieFromSquare's topic in Cooling
Got the shipped notification. I'll have them Thursday! -
White Red Green. Go full Christmas on it.

So. Turns out my GPU is a little bit too big...
shibbs replied to ★ Coups ★'s topic in Graphics Cards
Yes, definitely. My case has plenty of room for it. -

They're acrylic panels. Relatively low heat will definitely melt it. Use the burner on your electric stove, NOT an open flame of any kind. It will be MUCH more likely to start on fire and discolor. I have lots of experience with the stuff making custom fish aquariums and whatnot. Once you heat the acrylic, ANY contact with anything (fingers, wood, metal, ANYTHING) will definitely make it look like shit. Heat it up over the smallest burner on your stove, SLOWLY, and just let the weight of itself weigh down and bulge the panel. Then allow it to cool slowly. Silly, stupid side note. I have the same card and also was very surprised at how beefy it is. -
Resellers will raise the price sky high when they run out of product so they don't have to deactivate/remove the listing. Then when the new stock arrives, they'll lower the price back to where it should be.

Problem solving has to start at the beginning: You're applying thermal paste, right? Using the pea method? Those temps do seem awfully high.

Just use Android Pay. It's really perfect because I always have my phone on me anyway, why not use it as a credit card?

The Aria is truly a thing of beauty. I would be honored to wear that headset. To score all 4 items would be........ amazeballs.

Your Mobo should have settings in the BIOS for adjusting fan speed automatically. Use splitters if you need more headers.

It's an Asetek unit just branded by Thermaltake so I don't see how it can be bad. The fans are the only variable, and OP said he has his own fans.
-
What size are your fans? If you have 140mm fans, then get the H110i or GT or GTX. If you have 120mm fans, then get this! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106241 Not gonna beat a 360mm radiator on an AIO. lol

Fan replacement ideas for Nepton 280L?
shibbs replied to overco's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
Why put a 120mm fan on a 140mm radiator? -
I had the 2 Fractal fans in the front for intake. I'd do a 120 at the back for exhaust. The Fractal fans are dead quiet, but don't flow a ton of air. Keep in mind you want to have positive pressure in your case for dust reasons.

NZXT Kraken x61 compatibility question

Control the fans from the motherboard and don't worry about their software. Fans > LEDs.- 5 replies

Are Thermaltake water cooling products any good?
shibbs replied to simpson092405's topic in Custom Loop and Exotic Cooling
Their AIO watercooling units are made by Asetek, so they SHOULD be good. I cannot recommend any of their other products, however. Their business practices are garbage, and I refuse to support them.- 2 replies

I have the iPPC 2000RPM fans. They're great. Definitely recommend. I have them speed controlled by the BIOS and set them so under normal operating they'll only get to 1500 RPM, at which they're dead silent. My platter HDDs are louder. I only have them set to ramp to full throttle if for some reason it gets super warm. Honestly, they're not that bad at 100% anyway.

Thanks! Lost this disc and many many others back in college!

I have/had the Corsair Quiet Edition SP140s with LEDs... They're "meh" at best. That being said, they do the job, and as long as they're not at 100% power, they're relatively quiet.

Why on earth did Noctua choose "Puke Tan" and "Poop Brown" for colors?
shibbs replied to iamdarkyoshi's topic in Cooling
I'll bet they'll say that it's some special blend of plastics that reduce noise or something. Alternatively, they're just a HUGE fan of a 20 year old Acer desktops.
