  1. So the Apex was still hitting 108c. It dropped to 93 with the fan. Der8auer's testing method is equivalent to blasting a blowtorch at the VRM heatsink and expecting everything to be ok. The answer is simple; use a fucking fan and do NOT take every safety precaution away.
  2. If it comes out this year, Vega is useless. For those looking to upgrade... ...wait for Volta™.
  3. I'm not exactly sure. That's just what I've read. Some Z170/ all Z270 and new Z370 chipset.
  4. Canard PC Hardware says Coffee Lake will be compatible with Z270 and some Z170. Good news if true. https://mobile.twitter.com/CPCHardware/status/886940741599145984
  5. Time to start thinking about dumping 67/7700K's on the Bay.
  6. i3 is rumored 4c/4t. Finally some movement from Intel! If they price these more competitively, they could steer the ship back towards them. Hopefully Intel will stop being bullheaded with their prices.
  7. I like Intel processors, but I don't think I'd take a Pentium.
  8. Intel's sabotage had little to do with it. I keep seeing people hanging on that very point of something that happened 10 years ago. AMD's problems is AMD. Stupid decisions after stupid decisions did them in. From acquiring ATi to Piledriver/Bulldozer to appointing Hector Ruiz as CEO who believed that APU's would be the future thus AMD vastly undervaluing the GPU market putting them where they are today. Not to mention stupid decisions like requiring the use of HBM that provides no benefit to G5X and Vega being delayed due to HBM shortages. If they were smart, they'd already have a product out using G5X instead. Intel has very little to do with it.
  9. It's a solid platform. Reports about it are way overblown. But if you have a Microcenter near you, they have a 6850K for $299 and X99 mobo's are pretty cheap.
  10. I can vouch for X299. My setup is stable and I'm enjoying the extra cores for rendering/converting/multitasking and gaming. All bad reports about X299 is way overblown. If you're looking for RBG, check out the Gigabyte Gaming 7 or 9. It has the best RGB out there rn. I have an MSI Carbon and love it. The RGB is a nice touch. Not as sophisticated as Gigabytes offering, but nice nonetheless.
  11. Well, I was more so mentioning the 1080 since that's where performance is relative to right now. My 1080 Ti OC'd to 2050 core/ 12,400 mem will pull 320 watts from the wall by itself. The thing is though, it has the performance to match. A 1080 will never come close to 300, let alone 400.
  12. Hey, I don't mind more power consumption as long as the performance is there. From preliminary results, we've seen a potential future gaming card using 400 fucking watts from the wall against a product that uses half that. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. Now mind you, that's a professional card. So I won't delve into stating that Vega will be the same. But if the FE edition is a sign of things to come... oh boy.
  13. The company should make a superior product. It is then THEIR job to earn your money by having a better product than their competitors. You shouldn't give money to AMD to "support" them when you know their product is inferior in hopes they'll use that money to make better products. That's a stupid mindset. If someone wants to just toss money away, why not just donate your next 10 paychecks to AMD? See how stupid that is? And who in the hell settles for an inferior product when there's a better one readily available? That's fanboy behavior. That's all there is to it.
  14. Ikr? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It's one thing if you just like AMD products better (FreeSync and such), but "support" them by buying a shittier product makes no sense. HAHAHA I mean, seriously... I'd have more joy in watching my money being ripped to shreds in the garbage disposal than give my money to a company with a crappier product. After all, I want to "support" them for giving me a lesser product compared to the competition. ? How about no. How about I give my money to a company who has a better product and is continuing to innovate and actually shows life. If AMD makes a better product, people will buy. But I would never support mediocrity for the sake of "supporting" them. AMD is a business. Their job is to convince ME to buy their product, not me giving my money for an inferior product. If nobody buys AMD products, it's probably a sign you need to restructure and improve.
  15. Thanks to both of you @done12many2 @TahoeDust. I don't use it right now but like you said, it's good knowing it's there for the future.
  16. Wanted to ask you guys; been reading on OCN that the 7800X/20X have full AVX-512 capabilities like the 7900X. Reviewers were telling us that the 7800X/20X only had half SP-DP AVX-512 enabled. Is there any new information regarding this? I'm genuinely curious.
  17. True. It will take some time as more reviews touch upon platform improvements down the line. I can say from experience that my 7820X at 4.5 with cache at 2800MHz that gaming is truly fluid. But I would wait to see what Coffee Lake will bring as I hope Intel will price the product much better and the platform isn't rushed.
  18. I just think it's such a rushed launch that performance is not up to par rn. PCGamer stated that Turbo Boost was broken at first with the 7900X only hitting 4.0 on all cores. I think it will take time for things to improve much like Ryzen is continually improving. ?
  19. All Skylake-X have the same amount of l3 cache per core at 1.375. The 7800X still has more L3 than the 7700K. So, it would seem all Sky-X processors would suffer the same fate, no?
  20. It's the same architecture. Are you telling me the 7800X results will differ at the same clock speeds? Do the Ryzen results differ clock to clock?
  21. He's not using the latest bios. PCGamer is doing ongoing/ constant BIOS updates on their 7900X. It's the same for the 7800X/ 7820X. Most Youtubers don't know jack shit what they're doing. http://www.pcgamer.com/the-ongoing-testing-of-intels-x299-and-i9-7900x/
  22. Skylake-X gaming performance is on par or better than the 7700K/7740X.
