JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Trouble Finding a Z97 Motherboard
your actual location would help greatly, I'm going to hazard a guess you're in Australia?

maybe your OC is to high for the voltage you're giving it, I've actually never heard of a crash due to a motherboard, it's usually the CPU, more specifically the CPU's overclock.
For example, I initially dialed my CPU's overclock in as 47, 47, 46, 46 @ 1.276V (all at 47 was getting a bit too hot for my liking), and it seemed stable, but i still got crashes. so I made a rule that every time it crashes i increase the voltage by 0.001, 4 crashes later and i was at my current 1.280V and it's been like that for over half a year.

I see you've got your 4690K to 4.7GHz, I doubt you'll get anything more out of it, that's most likely the limit of your chip, not your motherboard.

any reason why ROG in particular? there's tonnes of other great boards, even ASUS's not quite ROG, but still has the red aesthetic, Pro Gamer board: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97progamer
or the far more widely available Z97-A, my current motherboard. It OCes with the best of them, but has a somewhat unusual colour choice.

JebKerman reacted to kameshss in Asus, gigabyte or msi Motherboard
Go for anything b/w Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, AsRock.
All are good.
Get whichever is cheapest that suits your needs.

USB ones work too (and are improving all the time)

Assuming this is a steam installation:
1. Right-Click game
2. Properties
3. Local files tab
4. "Verify integrity of game cache..."

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in What would you do if hackers turned on pc gamers?
I wouldn't be surprised if too many of them use the service.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in Additional Drive Bays and Grommets (no accessories from manufacturer for case)
well, since there are no moving parts in an SSD you can kinda slap it anywhere with something like double-sided tape. which is a very simple solution to the drive count problem.
Don't know about the grommets though.
but looking at it they have identical internals. so using the 300R grommets and HDD upgrade look like they should work.
that said the Fractal Design Define R5 (without window) would fix both problems. which retailers btw?

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in EVGA GTX 970 or 960 and CX600M: How to power the card...
This is the modular connection at the back of the PSU, not the on the storage drives. SATA power tends to use a 6-pin connection on the PSU.
to answer the OP you use the 8 pin slots with 6+2 pin cables.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in "K" Series Obsolete?
BCLK is (probably) not as stable as ratio overclocking (not to haswell levels of course) and is more complex.
and there's always a chance that intel will do what they did with the G3258 or, more specifically the mojority of H81, B85, and H97 motherboards, essentially forced a bois update that disabled OCing.

JebKerman got a reaction from V-e-l-o-c-i-t-y in So is the i3-6100 the new price to performance king?
if you can be bothered, and if get a good chip, and if intel doesn't prevent OCing of Locked processors...
see where i'm going with this

JebKerman got a reaction from PlayStation 2 in The most evil computer.
surely he would have an FX-9590 and a pair of 2 R9 295X2s. I mean that could keep hell hot on it's own.
