er, why do you have a purple?

well they're a bit sluggish (even by HDD standards). but i'd assume they'd still work.

higher frequency memory is only really beneficial for content creation, or if the CPU is the bottleneck in the system when gaming (which being a 6700K, is not going to be a common occurrence).

JebKerman got a reaction from Joel Silva in Skylake & Haswell-E PCIe lane misconception
I dunno about that, they found in the video that, for a similar system (same RAM, ASUS -A series board for appropriate socket), X99 is more expensive than Z170 by about $100 USD. They trade places in games (game dependent, oddly enough Cities: Skylines performed considerably better on the 6700K). the 5820K only truly won in some synthetic benchmarks.

I'd say Z170 wins for the majority of consumers (ok, maybe prosumers)

JebKerman got a reaction from STRMfrmXMN in Corsair AX860i enough?
easily, a 550W would do fine. but 860W is good (if still a bit overkill) for a setup with 2 980s.

JebKerman got a reaction from WeeMan85 in CPU Overclock problem maybe?
    I loled (autocorrect I'm guessing)

I wouldn't be too surprised if it's degrading from a bit too high a voltage, try reducing the voltage to 1.35 or something (at whatever clockspeed nessesary). but there's also a chance you're applying too little voltage for that core clock so it's not completely stable.

according to that site it's a B and/or M keyed one. so yes that SSD should fit (provided it is short enough to fit in the Brix).

JebKerman got a reaction from 31ririklade in Something kills GPUs in computer!
Well there's only one thing i can think of that's capable of killing components (other than the component itself). and that's the PSU. admittedly this is a good unit. but from what i gather voltage regulation get's less stable as the PSU's 80+ rating increases beyond Gold, as the PSU is struggling to keep within it's efficiency, while also keeping up with the power demand.

speaking of the unit...someone will probably correct me if i'm wrong but iirc the OEM of the AX series is Seasonic. and we had someone here a couple of months back whose Seasonic 1200W 80+ Platinum unit managed to melt one of the plastic connectors. maybe the 1200W version had worse than usual QC.

JebKerman reacted to Silyy097 in Safe temps for HDD's
Just to let you guys know, the temps in the 60-70Deg range is actually the "Temperature from 100DegC", not the actual hard disk temp itself. The hard disks temps itself are around 30-40.

JebKerman got a reaction from givingtnt in 256gb ssd. m.2 or sata3 ?
not in this instance, no (unless you happen to be in the rather rare circumstance where you are running out of SATA slots)

this M.2 SSD is basically a SATA SDD in the M.2 form factor so there are no speed gains.

tbh, well done. the PSU is quite crap, but since the 750Ti gets all the power it needs from the motherboard i'd say it's excusable, i just wouldn't recommend going to crazy on any OCs on the 6300.
