  1. edited my post: well does it actually hamper anything? does the core clock increase under load? does you results (not) match the results of someone with similar specs?
  2. the card won't use more voltage than it needs to, boot up a game or a benchmark and it should increase. (i should read the entire post before commenting) well does it actually hamper anything? does the core clock increase under load? does you results not match the results of someone with similar specs?
  3. I'd consider my DS200 a standard ATX case and it fit the Cryorig R1 Ultimate comfortably. if you lok up the specs of the case and the specs of the cooler it will give you proof as to what will and wont fit. Here's the height limitations: Tt Com. MS-I: 170mm Antec GX500B: 158mm
  4. I find them generally amusing, I like them. <s>but obviously CS:GO >= Universe</s>
  5. intel cannot. as there is no discrete version of their integrated GPU. AMD CAN do Xfire with it's APUs, but only VERY low level discrete cards like the R7 240. intel could only do a dGPU+iGPU solution if they still made dGPUs. and likewise Nvidia COULD do dGPU+iGPU SLI if they made CPU/APUs
  6. well if you have the: time (lots of it) woodworking skill and basic tools metalworking skill and basic tools some dimensions (for things like motherboard standoffs, PCI placement) you could build your own case fairly cheaply (material cost could be less than $30 I'd imagine, tools are a different story, but they can be used afterwards). (swapping cost for time essentially)
  7. almost certainly, that's how their other cases have done it. (even the huge L1.0 (https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18709219)
  8. I honestly doubt it, but from what i have heard regarding the smaller chassis's you need to buy feet (foam or rubber pads) for it or the sharp acrylic corners will scratch wood (in particular) badly. they are very loud (not the case itself obviously but it's very poor at containing the sounds generated by internal components, and fans practically NEED vibration dampening). aside from that, and the fact you have to build it yourself as it comes flatpack (+ or -). they're built with water-cooling in mind, and you can have custom panels made (or make your own of course).
  9. Noctua NH-C14 or NH-D9L then. you may have to remove the top fan on the C14, and make sure you don't have high ram modules for the C14.
  10. should have said, "mine is in the shop"
  11. unless you're doing something with 5+ top tier graphics cards like the Fury and Titan X. you wont need any more than 1600W (and that's probably an overestimate)
  12. most powerful is the H100i iirc.
  13. I loled (autocorrect I'm guessing) I wouldn't be too surprised if it's degrading from a bit too high a voltage, try reducing the voltage to 1.35 or something (at whatever clockspeed nessesary). but there's also a chance you're applying too little voltage for that core clock so it's not completely stable.
  14. so you have both on you? seems a bit odd. but don't really know, push/pull usually makes a small improvement. And quieter fans deals with the noise issue. if you have both you could always try both see how they compare in various configs.
  15. neither are exceptionally quiet, especially the H55 with it's stock fan. of the 2 i suspect the V6GT is better than the H55 in perfoance and noise. but you could do better from other vendors, like Cryorig and Bequiet and, of course, Noctua (if you don't mind the brown)
  16. my guess is HDD, nearly always the loudest component.
  17. well if you enjoy bethesda games I'd say go for fallout 4 as a safe bet if nothing else. But keep an eye on XCOM 2 and it's predecessor. XCOM: Enemy Unknown and it's expansion pack, Enemy Within. As they are definitely worth picking up in a sale as there is nothing quite like them.
  18. Well there's only one thing i can think of that's capable of killing components (other than the component itself). and that's the PSU. admittedly this is a good unit. but from what i gather voltage regulation get's less stable as the PSU's 80+ rating increases beyond Gold, as the PSU is struggling to keep within it's efficiency, while also keeping up with the power demand. speaking of the unit...someone will probably correct me if i'm wrong but iirc the OEM of the AX series is Seasonic. and we had someone here a couple of months back whose Seasonic 1200W 80+ Platinum unit managed to melt one of the plastic connectors. maybe the 1200W version had worse than usual QC.
  19. 1. to justify the more expensive unlocked processors. they're a company seeking a profit, so whats the point in selling cheaper processors capable of being brought up to the level of the more expensive ones 2. not really, not easily anyway, and it'd be too much hassle for the general public. and if someone does make a breakthrough (kinda like what Asrock and consequently pretty much every mobo manufacturer made with Skylake) Intel could just release another update to "fix" it.
  20. i'll reiterate 4GB 380 > 4GB 960 > 2GB 380 > 2GB 960 that said though. for slightly less than the original 960 in the OP you can get this: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/34564/sapphire-radeon-r9-380-nitro-4gb which is the best 380 available and you can use the 2 6-pin power cables the PSU has.
  21. 1. not really sure, especially with Firewatch. but the other 2 are very heavily tied to CPU (GMod only uses 1 maybe 2 CPU cores iirc, and BNG has a lot of physics calculations) It will help a lot with most modern titles, probably with firewatch. but probably wont change GMod or BNG too much. 2. most likely. wattage certainly wont be an issue no it is not, it lacks 8 (or 6+2) pin PCIe Power cables 3. no 4. https://au.pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-02gp42966kr i'm pretty sure there are 960s that will work of a single 6 pin EDIT: found one with 1 6 Pin and 4GB vram for less: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/34641/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-960-oc-4gb
  22. not worth the upgrade, if you HAVE to spend money the best thing to do would be to get another 280X (or alternatively, jump on an intel platform, say a Xeon 1231v3 and a B85 board)
  23. I don't know personally. but the newegg reviews are flawless (aside from the lack of a VESA mount) and at that kinda price nothing really seems to compare. apparently the panel itself is the same as a Samsung 4K Freesync panel which is generally found at a higher price.
  24. I believe the AOC U2879VF(http://www.aocmonitorap.com/v2015/au/product_display.php?id=5155) is around that much. only 28" though.
  25. I'd probably say M-ITX, preferably with a horizontal motherboard (380T, the smaller brother of the 780T, for example). if you want something relatively easy to carry the last thing you want is a 2nd GPU.
