I'm planning to get a strip which I can control with a remote but I don't have one though. Both 5.25" bays are available for use!

I agree, for the same money I could get a higher quality z170 mobo compared to x99. So it would cost me around 100~ extra for the mobo, wondering if it would be worth it.
