I would also recommend trying a different SATA port on your motherboard, different SATA cable, and I know it's gonna sound bizarre, but try a different power supply if you can. Had one die on me not too long ago and the only sign was that it wasn't powering my mech drive enough to spin at full speed, so Windows kept crashing due to the slower than expected speed.

Agree fully on this. I have a 970 and it is *not* aging super gracefully, unlike my R9 290 which still holds its own pretty damn well.

All you need to do is (unless I'm mistaken) delete the partitions and just recreate one to install the OS. The installer will create other necessary partitions for you.

I believe the official Windows 10 Netflix app supports 21:9 but the app is really awful.

Not underpowered for normal consumer (think Apple consumers here, not us prosumers, so more web-browsers and photographers/coders)

Have to disagree, Windows 7 DOES NOT RUN VERY WELL on 2GB of ram. It'll run, but not well (unless you disable literally every single animation and WinAero)

Best $180-$200 motherboards
Its_Twitchyy replied to Bubba200's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Great board, had no issues with it in the ~1.5 months that I've had it, however I haven't had time to try out overclocking quite yet. -
Best $180-$200 motherboards

I have the ASUS Z170-A and it sounds like exactly what you're looking for. Black+White Scheme with a hint of Blue. Also a bit cheaper without sacrificing quality. -
Well that's dumb.. What case?

If the Blade isn't very good, why does Linus use one daily? That's why I recommended it, that and I have a few friends that use them daily as well, and never had any issues with them. Also, why would OP even CONSIDER the new EVGA laptop? He clearly stated he had a budget of $1500...

Linus, as well as a few friends of mine own and use a Razer Blade as their daily driver laptop. I would say go with that. Could get a Razer Core if you really wanted to spend the extra $$ on it.

Isopropyl alcohol (need fast replies)
Its_Twitchyy replied to Falling1's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I would think that it would have to be clear. The whole reason that Isopropyl Alcohol is used is because it evaporates. The blue stuff may leave stains. -

They are SUPER NOT THE SAME THING. Completely old and outdated spec. If they aren't affecting SSD performance, then you might have a really slow SSD. Source: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8142/~/difference-between-sata-i,-sata-ii-and-sata-iii

Gonna go super-critical mode real quick, don't mind me. You could save a chunk of cash by getting something other than a Samsung or Intel SSD. PNY, ADATA, and SanDisk are all awesome brands that I've used in the past and never had any issues with. If your friend is serious about editing, get a cache SSD for 1-2 projects that he's actively working on, and for all of the editing software's cache. Also, get a bigger HDD. Project archives add up fast, even when each project is fairly small by itself. You really don't need those extra fans, that case has plenty pre-installed. Just move them around if needed. To save about $20 on RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233853 Other than that, good editing build! -
No problem haha, pardon the shite drawing

Basically this. Use S/PDIF (Optical) or if you don't have/can't use that, use HDMI audio going to the cinema system. If the headphones are plugged into the cinema system, it won't output sound to the TV/sound system.
-
How do you know the SSD isn't GPT? Why would the SSD work fine yesterday, but not today?
-
If that's the case, there might be some BIOS or other hardware issues with your PC.
-
I would do either audio over HDMI if your GFX Card supports it, or do S/PDIF to your cinema system. Then just connect your headphones to your cinema system. Bada-bing bada-boom. Done!

I have this one, and absolutely love it. $22, so a bit over-budget for you, but it's sturdy yet not bulky. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EMWJ6Z6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

MAKE SURE that you're booting from the SSD, NOT the Windows Boot Loader. I had a similar problem right after doing a clean install of Win10Pro. Went into my boot menu, booted from the SSD instead of the bootloader, and everything was fine. Hope your issue gets sorted out!
